4 Arecont Vision s General Camera Notes Frame rates are rounded up to the next valid value listed in the tables. For example, if the requested frame rate is 7.5 frames per second (fps), the camera provides 8 fps. The frame rate requested might not match specifications in the camera manufacturer s documentation. Camera resolutions configured in DS Admin must match resolutions supported in this document. Always stop the Digital Sentry VideoServer service before running the Arecont Vision AV Manager application. After AV Manager configuration is complete, change the AV Manager server startup type to Disabled (LMSrv), and then restart the VideoServer service. Digital Sentry cannot function properly while any Arecont Vision application is active on the same system. Check the system tray to verify that Arecont Vision applications are not active. Using Integral motion detection decreases Digital Sentry performance because of increased CPU usage, especially at higher resolutions. Pelco recommends that in-camera motion detection be used at higher resolutions. Frame rates could be reduced as resolution and quality settings are increased. Arecont Vision IP cameras cannot be dual-homed (that is, they cannot be streamed to two Digital Sentry systems or applications simultaneously). To provide a stable camera environment, make sure local or Power over Ethernet (PoE) power meets or exceeds the requirement of the camera used. For optimal performance, do not use the Digital Sentry client software on the Digital Sentry system to view video from Arecont Vision cameras, except for configuration purposes. Some servers do not meet the minimum requirements to run the client software in this manner. A single Arecont Vision driver in DS Admin controls all supported Arecont Vision cameras. The Arecont IP cameras are fixed and do not support Pan/Tilt/Zoom (). Specific Camera Notes: AV1300 and AV2100: In-camera motion detection on AV1300 is less sensitive at lower resolutions. It is recommended that Integral motion detection be used at lower resolutions with this camera. AV1355: When security is enabled on the camera, the DS Admin username/password credentials are used by the IP driver for authentication. Page 4 of 31 C1024RN-A (8/10)

To obtain a copy of all necessary software versions, go to To view images larger than 2 MPx, you must install Megapixel Support for DS Client/Admin 4.1 and DS ControlPoint or later. To obtain a copy of all necessary software versions, go to Short communication delays (2 to 3 minutes) could occur when you use Digital Sentry to change the configuration of AV3100, AV3130, AV The number and frequency of delays can be decreased by combining multiple configuration changes into as few groups as possible. AV3100: In-camera motion detection on an AV3100 is less sensitive at lower resolutions. Pelco recommends that Integral motion detection be used at lower resolutions with this camera. AV3130: When configuring AV3130 in DS Admin, three different drivers are available including one each for Day, Night, and Automatic modes. The selected driver must match the mode selected in the camera.s software. AV3135: AV3135 can be used with Digital Sentry IP camera driver When security is enabled on the camera, the DS Admin username and password credentials are used by the IP driver for authentication. AV5100: In-camera motion detection will be supported on the AV5100 in a later release. AV8180 and AV8360: The frame rate and quality for all four camera sensors (heads) must be set to the same value. AV8180 and AV8360 do not have a configuration Web page. AV8180 and AV8360 support in-camera motion detection in version and later. Using Integral motion detection at 1600 x 1200 resolution can significantly reduce the performance of the Digital Sentry system. To use Integral motion detection, it is recommended that you select 800 x 600 resolution. AV8180 camera input numbers are not in the same order as their physical locations on the camera. AV8180, AV8185, AV8360, and AV8365: Only the maximum frame rate is supported on these cameras. AV10005: When security is enabled on this camera, the DS Admin username/password credentials are used by the IP driver for authentication.

14 Page 14 of 31 C1024RN-A (8/10) IQinVision s General Camera Notes When IQinVision IP cameras are configured to capture video at high resolutions, set the video quality in DS Admin to a value above 25. At lower quality settings, high resolution video images could be lost or corrupted. Before using on IQinVision cameras, you must create at least one motion window and enable the motion trigger. To create a motion window, run the IQinVision Web interface and select from the Window menu. To enable the motion trigger, select the Trigger tab in the Web interface, and then select Enabled from the drop-down list. Do not use the IQinVision configuration software to crop images unless the resulting resolution exactly matches the resolution configured for the camera in DS Admin. Failure to do so could cause instability in the Digital Sentry software. It is recommended that you do not transmit video from IQinVision IP cameras to the Digital Sentry server over a wide area network (WAN), which can cause video instability. The requested frame rate might not match specifications in the camera manufacturer s documentation. To capture images larger than 2 megapixels (MPx), you must install Digital Sentry IP camera driver or later and then Megapixel Support for DS Server/VAU 4.1. To view images larger than 2 MPx, you must install Megapixel Support for DS Client/Admin 4.1 and DS ControlPoint or later. 17 NetBotz s General Camera Notes Security settings prevent the NetBotz Advanced View software from being started directly from DSAdmin. You must install and run Advanced View as a stand-alone application separate from DSAdmin. NetBotz camera and image quality cannot be configured in DSAdmin. It must be configured in NetBotz Advanced View by clicking the Configuration icon, clicking the Capture button, and selecting the quality setting from the Image drop-down list. In the NetBotz Advanced View software, camera labels must use the format DSCamera#x, where x is the Digital Sentry camera input. For example, the camera connected to Digital Sentry camera input 8 must have a camera label of DSCamera#8; however, in the Digital Sentry software, the camera can be named as desired. To view and record video on a Digital Sentry system, a user with a Privilege Set other than None must be created in the NetBotz Advanced View software. The user s NetBotz name and password must be used when configuring the NetBotz cameras in the DSAdmin software. Only users who are assigned the Administrator privilege set in NetBotz Advanced View can change camera settings such as contrast, quality, and motion detection. The requested frame rate might not match specifications in the camera manufacturer.s documentation. Specific Camera Notes NetBotz 320 or NetBotz420: If more than one of these cameras is connected to a Digital Sentry Video Acquisition Unit (VAU), use server-based motion detection instead of in-camera motion detection. NetBotz 500: This camera will support in-camera motion detection in a later release of the IP camera driver. C1024RN-A (8/10) Page 17 of 31

19 Panasonic s General Camera Notes If the frame rate is set to a value larger than the maximum value for a camera, the frame rate defaults to the maximum value. Frame rates are rounded up to the next value listed in the tables. For example, if the requested frame rate is 8 frames per second (fps), the camera provides 10 fps. Because of a limitation regarding the number of users viewing feeds from the camera, the frame rate requested might not match what the camera can supply at that time. The camera automatically logs off users who are not actively using the feeds, which then increases the total throughput for remaining users. Frame rates could be reduced as quality settings are increased. All camera-specific Panasonic drivers have been replaced by a single Panasonic i-pro driver in DSAdmin. To capture images larger than 2 MP, you must install Digital Sentry IP camera driver or later and then Megapixel Support for DS Server/VAU 4.1. To view images larger than 2 MP, you must install Megapixel Support for DS Client/Admin 4.1 and DS ControlPoint or later. Specific Camera Notes: WV-NP1004: When changing from partial- to full-scan mode using different resolutions, this camera might not display video for up to 4 minutes. WV-NS202, WS-NS202A, and WV-NS324: Digital Sentry systems support a maximum of 10 presets for these cameras. WV-NS202, WS-NS202A and WV-NS484: When changing the camera configuration, the Digital Sentry VideoServer Service might restart, which will interrupt video recording for several minutes. WV-NS324, WV-NS472 and WV-NS474S: Before changing the resolution on these cameras, close the Digital Sentry client software. The Digital Sentry system will not record video for up to 4 minutes. WV-NS954: When using this camera, select the Panasonic ipro driver in DS Admin. C1024RN-A (8/10) Page 19 of 31
