7 DRAFT Supplement 1 Purpose of This Document Basler A600f Board Level cameras are variants of standard Basler A600f cameras. The purpose of this document is to describe the features unique to A600f Board Level cameras. The unique features of A600f Board Level cameras are listed below. As the name implies, A600f Board Level cameras consist of electronic parts and a sensor mounted on a circuit board. The cameras are not enclosed in a housing. The drawings in Section 3 show the dimensions of the board and the location of the sensor. Standard A600f cameras are always enclosed in a housing. Because Board Level cameras do not include a housing, they are not tested for EMI. Section 2 has more information about EMI testing. Standard A600f cameras are tested and certified for EMI. Board Level cameras are available with a C-mount lens adapter attached to the circuit board. They are also available without a lens adapter. The drawings in Section 3 show a Board Level camera equipped with a lens mount adapter and one without a lens mount adapter. Standard cameras are always equipped with a lens adapter. Board Level cameras have two input ports and four output ports. Standard cameras have four input port and four output ports. The type of connector and the pin assignments for the I/O port connector on Board Level cameras are different from standard cameras. Section 4 provides detailed information for the I/O connector and the pin assignments on Board Level cameras. The input ports and the output ports on Board Level cameras are not optoisolated. This means that the electrical characteristics of the input ports and the output ports on Board Level cameras are different from standard cameras. Sections 6 and 7 describe the electrical characteristics of the ports. On standard cameras, optoisolators are used on the input and the output ports. An output reference voltage is supplied in the I/O connector on Board Level cameras. Section 8 describes this reference voltage. This reference voltage is not available on standard cameras. The timing for the Integrate Enabled signal on Board Level cameras is different from standard cameras. Section 9 shows the timing for Board Level cameras. Caution! The pin assignments and the electrical characteristics of the I/O ports on A600f Board Level cameras are different from standard A600f cameras. When using a Board Level camera, you must follow the guidelines in Sections 4, 6, and 7. Failure to follow the guidelines will result in severe damage to the Board Level camera. 8 Supplement DRAFT In all other respects, the operation and features of an A600f Board Level camera are identical to the operation and features on an equivalent model standard A600f camera. Table 1 lists the currently available Board Level camera models and indicates the equivalent standard camera model. For a full description of a Board Level camera and its capabilities, this document must be used together with the A600f User s Manual (document number DA000561xx). Because housing design is critical to the electromagnetic interference (EMI) characteristics of a camera, no FCC or CE certification tests regarding EMI have been performed for Board Level cameras. Users who design Board Level cameras into their products should perform the appropriate EMI testing after the product design, including the product enclosure, is complete. 3 Camera Dimensions The dimensions for A600f Board Level cameras that include a C-mount lens adapter are as shown in Figure 1. The dimensions for A600f Board Level cameras that do not include a C-mount lens adapter are as shown in Figure 2. 2 Basler A600f Board Level

11 DRAFT Supplement 4 I/O Port Connector 4.1 I/O Port Connector Location and Pin Numbering A 10-pin double row straight pin header is used to access the input and output ports on A600f Board Level cameras. The location and pin numbering of the header is as shown in Figure 3. Figure 3: I/O Port Connector Location and Pin Numbering 4.2 I/O Port Connector Pin Assignments The pin assignments for the-10 pin I/O port connector are as shown in the table below. 12 Supplement DRAFT 4.3 I/O Port Connector Type The 10-pin I/O port connector mounted on the camera board is a Hirose double row straight pin header (part number DF20F-10DP-1V) or the equivalent. The connector is shown in Figure 4. The recommended mating connector is a Hirose double row socket (part number DF20A-10DS- 1C) or the equivalent. Figure 4: 10-pin Header 6 Basler A600f Board Level

14 Supplement DRAFT 6 Input Port Electrical Characteristics A600f Board Level cameras are equipped with two physical input ports designated as Input Port 0 and Input Port 1. The ports are accessed via the 10-pin header on the board. See Table 2 and Figure 3 for input port pin assignments and pin numbering. For each port, an input voltage between 0.0 and 1.5 VDC indicates a logical 0. An input voltage between 3.5 and 5.0 VDC indicates a logical 1. Typical current draw for the input port is 1 ma. Figure 6 shows an example of a typical circuit you can use to input a signal into the Board Level camera. Figure 6: Typical Input Circuit Caution! The pin assignments and the electrical characteristics of the input ports on A600f Board Level cameras are different from standard A600f cameras. When using a Board Level camera, you must follow the guidelines in Sections 4, 6, and 7 of this supplement. 15 DRAFT Supplement 7 Output Port Electrical Characteristics A600f Board Level cameras are equipped with four physical output ports designated as Output Port 0, Output Port 1, Output Port 2, and Output Port 3. The ports are accessed via the 10-pin header on the board. See Table 2 and Figure 3 for output port pin assignments and pin numbering. For each port, an output voltage between 0.0 and 0.44 VDC indicates a logical 0. The maximum low level output voltage (i.e., 0.44 VDC) will be present when the driver is sinking the maximum allowed input current of 24 ma. An output voltage between 4.2 and 5.0 VDC indicates a logical 1. The minimum high level output voltage (i.e., 4.2 VDC) will be present when the driver is sourcing the maximum allowed output current of 24 ma. Figure 6 shows an example of a typical circuit you can use to monitor an output port with a LED or an optocoupler. When using a Board Level camera, you must follow the guidelines in Sections 4, 6, and 7 of this supplement. Failure to follow the guidelines will result in severe damage to the Board Level camera. 16 Supplement DRAFT 8 Reference Voltage As shown in Table 2 and in Figure 5, a 5 VDC output is supplied on pin 10 of the I/O port connector. This output can be used as a reference voltage. You must not draw current from this output. Caution! The 5 VDC output can be used as a reference voltage only. You must not draw current from this output. Drawing current from this output can damage the Board Level camera. Do not connect the 5 VDC output directly to ground. Connecting this voltage directly to ground will result in damage to the camera. 9 Integrate Enabled Signal Timing As shown in Figure 8, the time between the start of exposure and the rise of the Integrate Enabled (IntEn) signal will be less than 10 nanoseconds. The time between the end of exposure and the fall of IntEn signal will also be less than 10 nanoseconds. This is considerably better than standard A600f cameras and is due to the difference in the design of the camera s output port circuitry.
