OBSOLETE SERVICE OFFERINGS - TELEPHONE ANSWERING SERVICE FACILITIES A108.1 General Provisions (Obsoleted , Type D) Obsolete service offering. Service rates and charges in this section are available for inward activity of existing subscribers only as specified following. Not available for new service/system or entire moves of existing service to new locations. A Facilities And Equipment A. The Company will provide facilities, as outlined herein, for Telephone Answering Bureaus (secretarial firms) for their use in furnishing telephone answering service for subscribers to exchange services, excluding multiparty line services, when they are absent or do not desire to answer their calls personally. B. Specially designed telephone answering equipment is available for terminating a number of secretarial lines extending from telephone subscribers' service so that an attendant may answer incoming calls to the lines of subscribers who contract with the Telephone Answering Bureau. The equipment is designed to prevent the attendant from placing outgoing calls over such secretarial lines. C. Main station and local private line terminations may also be provided where the subscriber contracts with a Telephone Answering Bureau to receive all incoming calls or where the Telephone Answering Bureau wishes to terminate administrative service for answering purposes only. D. Foreign Exchange Service and secretarial lines associated therewith may be terminated in telephone answering equipment for answering purposes only. E. Local exchange trunks may be terminated in a telephone answering switchboard for the purpose of completing local or long distance calls to and from administrative telephones furnished with and on the same premises as the telephone answering switchboard. F. The interconnection by the Telephone Answering Bureau of its client's line with the other lines or central office lines or other facilities is subject to the limitations of the equipment. Where such connections can be made and include connections to the Company exchange network, private line service, or long distance message telecommunications network, the responsibility of the Company shall be limited to the furnishing of facilities suitable for Exchange Service, Private Line Service or Long Distance Message Telecommunications Service and to the maintenance and operation of such facilities in a manner proper for such service. G. A concentrator-identifier is available for connecting a Telephone Answering Bureau with secretarial lines or main station lines of its clients located in central office areas other than that in which the Telephone Answering Bureau is located. Where main station lines are connected to concentrators, the address of the Telephone Answering Bureau shall be shown in the directory listing for service. H. Occasional Service may be provided to accommodate up to a maximum of 100 Telephone Answering Bureau clients. Any one of the 100 clients can be remotely associated by means of a control channel with any one of a maximum of 10 lines extending from the Central Office to the Telephone Answering Bureau but only 10 clients can be extended simultaneously. This equipment is designed to operate with the 557 type switchboard and the 1A Telephone Answering Console. I. The Telephone Answering Bureau may bridge calls from secretarial lines to the general exchange network over exchange central office lines furnished the Telephone Answering Bureau for administrative use; however, these facilities furnished by the Company are not designed for call bridging. The Company will not be liable for defects in transmission or other service difficulties arising out of or resulting from the Telephone Answering Bureau bridging calls. A Initial Service Periods Concentrator-identifier equipment is provided for initial service periods of five years, with basic termination charges being applicable as indicated herein. Associated with key equipment, consoles and switchboards not arranged for making connections to administrative stations. 1. Rates and charges for Business Individual Lines Extension station rates and charges apply for those stations in excess of the number of central office lines. B. A Concentrator-Identifier Arrangements (Obsoleted January 9, Type D; Not available for new installations, moves or additions. The control circuits used in provisioning of this service require Metallic Continuity. It is expressly declared that metallic facilities are in continually decreasing supply and that the Company does not hold itself in a position to make such facilities available. In addition, if modernization programs dictate the replacement of existing metallic facilities with non-metallic facilities such as fiber optics, the Company will not be required to continue the service over metallic facilities.) Secretarial lines connected either directly to the telephone answering facility or through concentrator-equipment. The charges specified in the "Service Charges" Section A4. of this Tariff for extension service apply. In addition, the installation charge specified in A A. preceding for the appropriate type channel provided also applies. 2. Main Station Lines The charges specified in the "Service Charges" Section A4., of this Tariff for main station service apply. 3. Changes of client's lines from a direct connection to a telephone answering facility to a connection through concentrator-identifier equipment or vice versa are made without charge. C. Main station lines of clients terminated only in telephone answering facilities for answering purposes only 1. The rate quoted in the "Basic Exchange Service" section of this Tariff for individual line service applies, plus the charge specified in A A. preceding for a secretarial line termination. D. The following rates and charges apply in conjunction with rates specified in A A.1. and 2. preceding for terminating a patron's line in a Telephone Answering Bureau. These rates and charges are billed to the Telephone Answering Bureau. 1. Local Channel Monthly Rate USOC (a) Type Rate Differential $10.48 WZZFZ A Reserved For Future Use A Customer Operating Center Service (Obsoleted 11/15/89, Type D; customers may continue to activate channels within their existing size of service cable.) A. Customer Operating Center Service (COCS) is designed for use by Telephone Answering Bureaus which utilize large, quantities of local channel of the types described in A E. following between their locations and the serving wire center. B. Customer Operating Center Service is provided to Telephone Answering Bureaus at their option. The rates for Customer Operating Center Service are billed directly by the Company to the Telephone Answering Bureau and apply in lieu of the rates for individual channels specified in A preceding. C. For the purposes of this Tariff, a Customer Operating Center is defined as a customer location: 1. owned or leased by the customer over which the customer has control and provides security. 2. from which the customer furnishes and administers service to multiple clients in a geographical area. The term "Clients" denotes a subscriber to the services offered by the owner or lessee of a Customer Operating Center. 3. at which a system, or a group of systems, owned or leased by the customer whose operation is to receive signals and messages which are recorded, maintained and supervised by the customer. 4. at which the customer has regularly scheduled observers and operators in attendance at all times whose duties include, upon receipt of a signal message from a client, taking such action as shall be required under the rules established by the customer for their guidance. D. Method Of Applying Rates 1. Complement Of Cable Pairs a. COCS is provided by using complement of cable pairs in the size and length specified in A E. following. b. A monthly rate applies for each complement of cable pairs of a specific size and length whose airline distance is more than 1/4 mile. c. The customer will provide in advance a forecast of the complement of cable pairs he wishes to have planned to his use and agrees to payment of the charges for the complement of cable pairs whose airline distance is greater than 1/4 mile whether circuits are activated or not.
