4 4 Vehicle Heaters Technical Documentation 1 Introduction Please read first Before you start to install the Calltronic, please ensure you read through these installation instructions carefully. These installation instructions contain important information, which you require for the installation. General information / safety instructions The Calltronic is a control for operating the heater from a distance using a mobile or landline phone via the GSM network. It is possible to choose between heating and ventilation modes. The heating period can be set between 1 min. and 999 min. Continuous heating is possible. Danger! Pacemakers and hearing aids can be affected by radio waves and their function disrupted. ÎÎ Get your doctor to check your pacemaker or hearing aid specialist to check your hearing aid for susceptibility to faults. The removed SIM card is a small part and can be swallowed by children risk to life! ÎÎ Install the Calltronic receiver so that it is inaccessible to children. Please note! Additional phone charge costs are incurred when you make a call, send an SMS and receive an SMS. The range depends on the network operator (area with no reception). Ensure you note and comply with the vehicle manufacturer's instructions and regulations for the installation and operation of a mobile phone or GSM module. The Calltronic can only be operated in vehicles with a metallised windscreen if an external GSM antenna is installed. Following installation, hand over the installation instruction to the customer, together with the instructions for use.

5 Vehicle Heaters Technical Documentation 5 1 Introduction Statutory regulations Return / disposal of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with 4 Paragraph 1 Alt Fz-VO (End of Life Vehicle Regulations) As a part of the vehicle, when the vehicle is handed over to a recognised waste collection body, a recognised returns body or a recognised dismantling firm, the Calltronic must be placed in the vehicle for return in accordance with Art 4 Paragraph 1 AltfahrzeugV. Approval An EMC approval for a component to ECE- R10 has been issued for the Calltronic with the following official type-approval marks, noted on the nameplate. 10R Purpose The Calltronic is used for remote controlled switching on and off, presetting of the switching on time and of the operating period of the heater installed in the vehicle. Please note! Improper use and use outside the specified purpose cancels all liability and warranty. General information A SIM card / prepaid card of a mobile phone operator is required to operate the Calltronic (see notes Page 7). This is not included in the scope of supply. A mobile phone is not included in the scope of supply. Combination of Calltronic with mini controller or control unit: In combination with the Calltronic, the mini controller or control unit is only used to specify the setpoint. Select Heating mode at the mini controller or control unit. The red LED is for status display only, not for operating mode display. The operating mode is selected using the remote control. Combination of the Calltronic with timer and radio remote control (e.g. for retrofitting) is not planned.

Do not insert the SIM card into the SIM card holder or remove it while a voltage is applied to the GSM module. This can cause damage to the SIM card or GSM module. Insert the SIM card / prepaid card in the Calltronic. Before you start the installation, read and follow the notes on the usability of SIM cards / prepaid cards Page 10. Then push down the cover of the GSM module's SIM card holder, the SIM card holder becomes visible. Push the SIM card holder to the right to release it and pull out. Insert the SIM card in the card holder so that the chip is visible and the cut-off corner of the card is in the bottom right-hand side. The close the SIM card holder and push to the left to lock it. Then close the cover for the SIM card holder. Installation Install GSM module The GSM module must be installed inside the vehicle; the preferred location is under the dashboard. Decide on installed location inside the vehicle. Use 2 self-tapping screws to fix the GSM module; ensure you leave sufficient space to connect the cable loom, antenna cable and if necessary to replace the SIM card. Vehicle parts behind the mounting surface must not be damaged when the self-tapping screws are fixed.

8 8 Vehicle Heaters Technical Documentation 2 Installation instructions Install GSM module Lay the antenna cable to the GSM module and connect it. Please note! Do not shorten or bend the antenna cable. When positioning the antenna, maintain a minimum distance of 3 cm from metal parts. 5 1 GSM module 2 Cover 3 SIM card holder 4 Self-tapping screws 5 GSM antenna Install antenna The antenna must be fixed to the front windscreen, however, never fix it in the tinted area or on the heating wires of the windscreen heating or the wires of the windscreen antenna. Thoroughly clean the windscreen with a cleaning cloth. Pull off the protective film on the antenna and stick the antenna onto the screen. Install button The button included in the scope of supply must be installed. To do this, drill a hole Ø 8 mm in a switch cover or in another, easily accessible place in the dashboard within the driver's reach. Insert the button in the Ø 8 mm hole. Please note! If necessary, discuss the possible mounting position with the vehicle owner.

Connect the 9-pin connector Connect the 9-pin, yellow connector supplied to the Control cable loom (heater cable harness), as shown in the circuit diagrams from Page 12.

10 10 Vehicle Heaters Technical Documentation 2 Installation instructions Initial start-up After installing the Calltronic, it cannot be started up until the SIM card / prepaid card has been activated. After the voltage has been applied to the Calltronic, the button flashes twice cyclically. After approx. 1 minute, the button flashes once cyclically; it can take 5 minutes before the Calltronic is finally ready for use. Usable SIM cards and prepaid cards The Calltronic can be operated with a 1.8 V or 3 V SIM card / prepaid card of a mobile phone network operator which supports the GSM 900/1800 (D, E network) mobile phone standard in Europe. Activate SIM card / prepaid card Before starting up the Calltronic for the first time, insert the SIM card / prepaid card into a mobile phone and activate according to the instructions of the mobile phone network operator. Additional settings required: Deactivate PIN query of the SIM card, if it cannot be deactivated the PIN code must be set to Deactivate call diversion. Switch off mailbox (if possible). Caution! When the Calltronic is started up, all data on the SIM card is deleted. Please note! When signing a contract with a mobile phone network operator, ensure that the PIN query of the SIM card can be deactivated. If using a SIM card with activated PIN query, the PIN code 1234 must be configured. If the mobile phone is blocked for other mobile phone network operators by a SIM lock, the purchased SIM card must be activated using a mobile phone without SIM lock. The accessibility of the Calltronic depends on the relevant mobile phone network operator. If using previously used SIM cards, delete all data from the card first, such as phone numbers, SMS, photos, etc.

11 Vehicle Heaters Technical Documentation 11 2 Installation instructions Operation with prepaid card If a prepaid card is used, note the term (validity period of the card units). If the prepaid card has expired, the Calltronic cannot be operated. Charging the prepaid card Ask your mobile phone network operator about options for loading units onto your prepaid card. If you have to remove the prepaid card from the Calltronic to add units, please do so as follows: Disconnect the GSM module from the power supply (disconnect the 9-pin connector). Remove the prepaid card from the Calltronic, see Page 7. Load units onto the prepaid card using a mobile phone according to the conditions of the mobile phone network operator. Notes on the SIM card / prepaid card Short-term operation of the Calltronic during a stay in the border region and elsewhere in Europe The accessibility of the Calltronic in border areas and in other European countries depends on the relevant mobile phone network operator. Please note! If the Calltronic is called in other European countries, additional costs are charged (roaming charges). If the Calltronic is called in the border area with the neighbouring country, roaming charges can also be incurred due to overlapping network coverage.
