8 Basic Operation What can be detected? MobileDetect Pouches all have unique chemistries that detect various substances of interest. Each pouch has a descriptive name and color code that indicates the primary known colorimetric reagent or primary substance(s) detected. Each pouch also has a color swatch square(s) that indicates the color of a positive detection of the main substances detected by the MobileDetect App. The MobileDetect app contains all test specific information for individual pouches including all substances that are detected by each unique pouch type in Description Main substances identified and color of positive reaction

9 Basic Operation RUN TEST Step 1 Obtain correct pouch based on detection needs. If unknown, follow the testing flow chart available through the MobileDetect App.

10 Basic Operation RUN TEST Step 2 Remove the swab from the pouch. Notice the sample collection pad at the end of the swab. This is the pad used to acquire sample.

11 Basic Operation RUN TEST Step 3 Hold the swab in your hand with one finger behind the pad end of the swab. Swab the surface, crushed pill, crystal, powder, or other sample with an estimated 5lbs. of pressure.

13 Basic Operation RUN TEST Step 4 Insert the swab back into the pouch in the same orientation (pad end first, sample collection pad facing label). Insert swab HALF-WAY or until you feel resistance on the insertion. The swab will NOT be inserted all the way to the bottom yet. Stop here

14 Basic Operation RUN TEST Step 5 Holding the pouch upright, crush the two ampoules by pressing on the areas indicated by the Press Here arrows on the label Crush ampoules by pinching the area with your finger and pressing on the front plastic Note: Trouble crushing ampoules is most commonly caused from people squeezing improperly. The ampoule is crushed by flexing the front plastic. Therefore it helps to just press with the tip of your thumb or pointer finger on the front of the pouch. If this is not possible, you may also use the back of a pen or something of similar size to push on the front of the pouch in the indicated Press Here areas as indicated by the label on the pouch

15 Basic Operation RUN TEST Step 6 Holding the pouch upright, shake until you see liquid reach the bottom swab chamber in the pouch. Wafting or fanning pouch works best

16 Basic Operation RUN TEST Step 7 Holding the pouch upright, push the swab further into the pouch until it reaches the bottom of the pouch. Shake as needed to ensure liquid covers the entire pad in the detection area.

17 Basic Operation RUN TEST Step 8 (For Automated Detection) Press Start Test at the end of the tutorial mode or in the quick start mode. Center the QR Code on the pouch with the yellow box on the screen. Will not scan at angle or too far away You may click on the screen to focus the camera or turn the camera flash on or off.

18 TIPS Swabbing Basic Operation RUN TEST Avoid too much dirt on pad- especially if colored Colors Some reaction can take up to 1 minute for the color to form. Monitor pouch out to this time for any color changes. Test is not valid past 3 minutes from ampoule crush Reaction color hue and shade can vary slightly test to test. Generated color can vary with substance purity, amount, temperature, or other external factors. Other generated color(s) not defined as a positive can also occur and are not valid Scanning Move QR code closer to fill entire box during scan Hold pouch steady when taking picture All results are presumptive in nature. A positive detection indicates that a substance is presumed present and proper procedure should be followed for collecting evidence for further testing and confirmation with an accredited laboratory.

22 APP Result Screen After clicking the export button, a menu pops up asking you what you would like to export NOTE: The Share the PDF Report export option just sends the compiled and un-editable report as seen in the above picture. The Share the PDF Report & Test Files option sends all of the pictures and info taken in the posttest screen page in a.zip file via your export option of choice. After selecting what you want to export, you can send the data numerous ways: SMS, , cloud etc. NOTE: Share options vary based on your phone and platform (ios vs. Android). 31 FAQ Supported Devices: All ios and Android devices have not been tested to fully guarantee consistent results. Cameras and flashes can differ. Recommended to use mainstream devices and most recent hardware for best results. Camera Glare: Camera glare over the detection area while running a test can affect results. Slightly tilting phone can move or reduce this glare. Move to well-lit area and turn flash off Lighting Conditions: Lighting conditions can greatly impact results. It is recommended to test in good lighting conditions such as outside during the day or inside under standard commercial lights. Pouch Disposal: Pouches should be disposed of after the test. Please see the Pouch Operating Manual for more information on pouch disposal. Pouch Storage: An industry leading 2 years of usable life from the date of manufacture. MobileDetect Pouches are to be stored for any prolonged amount of time away from direct sunlight and within a temperature range of -10 to 120F (-15 to 43C). (Optimal storage = around 70F or 21C)
