Student Professor Abstract In present century we are facing many problems like robbery at ATMs, banks, sudden health problem at home etc. So in emergencies like health breakdown, robbery we need someone for help. When the victim is in need or trouble, by pressing the switch the location where incident has taken place will be sent to the authentic receivers with the image of the person who has pressed it. Here the authentic receivers are family members, police station, ambulance etc. Emergency alert system using 3G network is designed to safeguard the lives of the aged peoples and housewife those who are alone at home, in the emergency situations like sudden health break down, robbery, fire etc. A person who is in need of help can just press the button and an emergency mail via 3G network will be sent to the relatives, police, fire brigade and hospital. This mail will be consisting of the image, location of the person who is in need of help and an emergency message. 1. Introduction We daily hear some or the other incidents about old people or housewife those who stay alone at home, in the emergency situations die or get into serious condition because the help or medication could not be provided on time i.e. by the time anyone could come and help them it would be very late and even in banks, ATMs in case of robbery, fire etc. the main help is police and fire brigade, Copyright IJIFR
2 who always come after some or the other bad incident has happened. Keeping these incidents as our backgrounds we have come up with an idea to DroidAlert System. This system acts as a life saver. There are some apps which have quite similar lifesaving objectives like lifefone in which the victim can just press the button and call will be connected to the lifefone call center and they send ambulance to the location of the victim. Another app was designed keeping the girls protection in mind which also sends the location of the victim to the numbers stored in the phone. DroidAlert System has switches which when pressed sends emergency mail to the authentic receiver along with the image and location of the person who presses the switch, via 3G network. By seeing the emergency mail the receivers can rush to help the victim. The wireless networking standard technology called Bluetooth has quietly become a common way to replace the wires and control a device wirelessly. An Android application designed to control the actions via Bluetooth connection is another step forward and includes commands that are sent to the receiver at the flick of a wrist. Any Android device is based on Java, has built-in Bluetooth module and a large variety of sensors. All of these features classify the Android smartphone as the perfect tool to control the robots over Bluetooth connectivity. The idea of this paper is to help you to develop an Android application able to communicate with the DroidAlert System over the Bluetooth technology. The wireless communication is between two systems. One is the device that runs the Android OS, while the second system is the DroidAlert System with a Bluetooth module Arduino uno R3 attached. On the Android device, the control system is simple and uses an application to control the Bluetooth service on Serial Port Profile (SPP) connection. The application has to be able to send data over Bluetooth module according to the Android device. On the other side of the DroidAlert System, we have to add a Bluetooth module connected to the Arduino Uno R3. The Bluetooth module is a little device designed to transmit data between peripheral devices. In other words, this little device is able to synchronize the I/O data between the DroidAlert System and the Android device. 2. Related Work Paper [1] describes how to better understand smart- phone application security by studying 1,100 popular free Android applications. He introduces the dead decompiler, which recovers Android application source code directly from its installation image. He designed and executed a horizontal study of smartphone applications based on static analysis of 21 million lines of recovered code Paper [2] describes about Android mobile platform for the mobile application development, layered approach and the details of security information about Android. Paper [3] describes the android platform, its architecture and framework. In development process, basic component and procedures of application is discussed.tools those were used in the development task were Eclipse IDE, android SDK and its plug-ins (android ADT).The result of the thesis project is a working application that has gone live too. Paper [4] describes developing the remote buttons in the android app by which the robot motion can be controlled. Bluetooth communication to interface controller and android. Controller can be interfaced to the Bluetooth module though UART protocol. According to commands received from android the robot motion can be controlled. Paper [5] describes about a SOS application being developed and its successful implementation with tested results. The application has target users those sections of the 3236
3 people who surprisingly falls into a situation where instant communication of their whereabouts becomes indispensable to be informed to certain authorized persons at remote end. Paper [6] reviews existing literature related to 3G and develops a framework that presents the factors that contribute to the success of 3G. The findings provide insight into the development and marketing of 3G services. Paper [7] describes that 3G is the third generation of wireless technologies. This comes with enhancements over previous wireless technologies, as high-speed transmission, advanced multimedia access and. 3G is mostly used with mobile phones and handsets as a means to connect the phone to the Internet or other IP networks in order to make voice and video calls, download and upload data and to surf the net. Paper [8] describes a system called door locks automation system using Bluetooth-based Android Smartphone is proposed and prototyped. First the hardware design and software development are described, then the design of a Bluetooth-based Smartphone application for lock/unlock the door are presented. The hardware design for door-lock system is the combination of android smart phone as the task master, Bluetooth module as command agent, Arduino microcontroller as controller center / data processing center, and solenoid as door lock output. Paper [9] describes the differences are done on the following Index terms: Background difference, definitions, technologies progress, speed/ rate of transmission, switching technologies used, network, band width, design specification, QoS, service and billing, features and capabilities. Paper [10] describes a low cost and flexible home control and monitoring system using an embedded micro-web server, with IP connectivity for accessing and controlling devices and appliances remotely using Android based Smart phone app and Arduino. Paper [11] describes about message broad casting over private networks. And also we describes about security issues and limitations with this approach. And finally we analyze cell broadcasting as a means of current approaches to third-party EAS. Paper [12] describes that the user can send an alert message to wide range of people in the organizations including colleges and universities. The EAS provides better security which does not wend way to intruders/hackers to take over the authority of the system. Paper [13] describes mechanism, the message is sent by the affected person is by a software installed in mobile which doesn t require the user not even to type the message. Then the message will be received by the service center using GSM modem. Using the mobile number and tower location they identify accident location using latitude and longitude in Smart Phones. Then they inform the type of the accident and appropriate location to the nearby service (police & fire). This will reduce the time required for the police and the emergency personnel to reach the accident location. Paper [14] describes that Bluetooth has a client-server architecture; the one that initiates the connection is the client, and the one who receives the connection is the server. Bluetooth is a great protocol for wireless communication because it's capable of transmitting data at nearly 1MB/s, while consuming 1/100th of the power of Wi-Fi. 3237
4 Paper[15] describes that Bluetooth is currently emerging as one of the most promising personal wireless network technologies. The automation industry is also showing interest in using Bluetooth for more industrial applications. Paper[16] describe that in order to optimize a system for delivery of broadcast services over 3G networks, the advantages of broadcast and unicast should be combined. We argue that hybrid unicast-broadcast delivery offers the best system resource usage and also the best user experience, and is thus favorable not only for broadcast delivery in 3G net-works, but actually also for non-cellular broadcast systems like DVB-H or DMB. Paper[17] describes mobile communications systems revolutionized the way people communicate, joining together communications and mobility. A long way in a remarkably short time has been achieved in the history of wireless. Evolution of wireless access technologies is about to reach its fourth generation (4G) 3. Proposed Work In Fig.3A block diagram shows the working of DroidAlert System. The main components of this system are Arduino Uno R3, a Bluetooth module hc05, an android device and push button. When the push button is pressed a signal is sent to Arduino which is connected to Bluetooth module and Arduino via Bluetooth sends commands like capturing image, and to the android device. The android device after catching image, it sends it to the authentic receivers along the location of the one presses the push button. The connection between the Arduino Uno R3 and Bluetooth is done with using Arduino software. And interfacing between Bluetooth and Android device is done using ADT (Android Development Tool). In this article we will see the detailed working of each block. 5 Push button one leg Arduino pin 9 Push button second leg Arduino GND pin Arduino communications with HC05 using Software Serial Port. HC05 communicates with Android BT by Bluetooth Socket. Arduino Uno does the two things, it will receive high command from the pushbutton and sends those command to HC05. The Hc05 after receiving data from Arduino will send it to Android phone. The Bluetooth of Android phone will be ON and paired with HC05. Make sure that other bluetooth devices in android phone are unpaired. The communication between Android Bluetooth and HC05 is via Bluetooth socket. Android app will be launched in phone, when it detects command from Arduino Image will be captured and sends an SMS to four receivers. Image will be sent via s. Outcome Of The Paper In this DROID Alert system we have victim on one side, an emergency alert device and a authentic receiver on the other side. Victim are the old aged people and alone housewife in a home. When they encounter any fire or thieves or health breakdown they can just press the button which is present on the DROID Alert system device. When the button is pressed a message will be sent to the four authentic receivers. The image will be captured and it will be sent via mail. The emergency message along with date, time and location of the victim will be sent through mail. The Arduino will receive high command from push button serially and send that command to Android device. The android device when receives data from Arduino, will launch the camera and start to capture the victim picture and send it to commonly shared mail id. It will also send an Emergency message to the authentic receivers. Fig. 4.3 shows the Emergency message received by the authentic receivers. The SMS contains the alert message, shared mail id name along with the date and time. An emergency message will be received thrice by each of the authentic receiver to alert the receiver and to distinguish from the other messages. 3240
7 Fig. 4.4 shows the images (captured by Droid Alert system) received by shared mail address. This mail ID common for all the authentic receivers. The password of their entire mail id is shared with all authentic receivers. Three Images will be received by shared mail id in order to know the condition of victim.
