1 Mitel 6940 IP Phone PHONE INTERFACE Handset - cordless Bluetooth handset. LCD Display - full color display with up to 96 programmable keys. Mobile Link mobile integration using Bluetooth. Softkeys Six statesensitive softkeys Speakerphone full duplex, enhanced wideband. Fixed Keys 10 fixed keys. See Chart below for functionality. Fixed Key Action Contacts Call History Voic Settings Volume Goodbye Redial Hold Mute Speaker/Headset Displays a list of your contacts. Displays a list of your missed, outgoing, and answered calls. Provides access to your voic service. Provides services and static settings that allow you to customize your phone. Adjusts the volume for the ringer, handset, headset, and speakerphone. Ends an active call. Displays a list of your previously dialed calls. Press twice to redial the last outgoing call. Places an active call on hold. To retrieve a held call, tap the appropriate line key. Mutes the microphone. Transfers the active call to the speaker or headset, allowing handsfree use of the phone.
2 HOME SCREEN The Home screen shows the date and time along with your number and the last dialed number. It is the default screen displayed when the phone is idle. The avatar is programmed by your system administrator. If this is not programmed the contact s initials will be displayed. CALL SCREEN During an incoming or outgoing call and when on an active call, all the important information regarding the call is displayed on the screen. The softkeys will change allowing you to access more call handling features such as Transfer and Add User during an active call. 3 MAKE A CALL Internal (Extension to Extension) 1. Lift the handset or press the speaker/headset key. 2. Dial the extension number. ERF External 1. Lift the handset or press the speaker/headset key. 2. Dial 8 plus the telephone number. END A CALL A Place the handset in the cradle, tap the End Call softkey, or press the Goodbye key. CE REDIAL A Tap the redial key Dial softkey. once to display the list of recently dialed numbers. Select the entry and tap the Tap the redial key twice to call the last dialed number. MUTE A Press the mute key while on an active call to mute the microphone for your handset, headset, or speaker. Press the mute key again to unmute the audio. C E HOLD Calls will remain on hold for 1 minute and will then ring back to your phone. To place a call on HOLD: o Press the Hold key. To retrieve a call from HOLD: o Press the Hold key again TRANSFER Allows you to transfer a call to another destination. A hold icon flashes on the applicable Line key. or tap the appropriate Line key. 1. While on a call, tap the Transfer softkey. (The active call will be placed on hold) 2. Dial the desired extension number then opt for one of the following: To complete the transfer, hang up or tap the Transfer softkey. To announce the transfer, wait for an answer and announce the call. 4 CONFERENCE Allows you to conference up to 8 parties. 1. While on a call, tap the Add User softkey. (The active call will be placed on hold) 2. Enter the next party s extension number or 8 plus outside number. 3. Tap the Join Calls softkey. 4. To add additional parties, repeat steps 1 3. CALL HISTORY Call History stores a log of all calls and displays type of call, name, number, and time of call. Missed calls will be displayed on both the home screen and the screen saver. Press the Call History button. Tap Missed, Outgoing, or Received to view the appropriate list. Tap the individual call entry to view more detail. Tap the Dial softkey to place a call. Tap the Add Contact softkey to copy the entry to your contacts application. Tap the Delete softkey to delete the entry from your call history. CONTACTS The Contacts application stores your personal phone book and the corporate directory. Press the Contacts button. Tap Personal, Mobile, or Corporate to view the appropriate list. Swipe up and down to scroll through the list of personal or mobile contacts and use the search feature to search the corporate contacts by last name. Tap the right arrow to view detailed information about the contact. Tap the Dial softkey to call the contact. Tap the Delete softkey to delete the entry from your contacts. 5 PROGRAMMABLE KEYS The 6940 phones have up to 96 self-programmable keys which can be used to program both internal and external speed dials. 1. Press and hold the applicable programmable key until the Programmable Key window opens. 2. Tap the key type (Speed Call) 3. In the Label Name field, enter a label for the key using the on screen keyboard. 4. Tap the Number field and enter a number using the dial pad keys. Remember to use 8 for outbound calls 5. (Optional) Tap the Private check box to make the key a private speed call no caller ID information displayed on the phone itself. 6. Tap the Save softkey to save the information. CHANGING RINGTONES There are a total of 20 distinct ring tones available for selection on the Mitel MiVoice 6940 IP phone. Separate ring tones can be configured for internal and external numbers. 1. Press the Settings key on the phone to open the Settings menu. 2. Tap the Audio icon. 3. Tap the Ring Tones icon. 4. Swipe up and down to scroll through the list and select the internal ring tone. 5. Tap External Ring. 6. Swipe up and down to scroll through the list and select the external ring tone. 7. Tap the Save softkey. Tech Electronics Help Desk Support: (314) pg.5
6 MOBILE LINK The 6940 phone support MobileLink which is a feature that provides seamless mobile integration using Bluetooth technology. MobileLink will sync your mobile phone contact list with the 6940 phone, answer a mobile phone call using the 6940 phone, and allow live calls to be moved from 6940 phone to the mobile phone. Pair your mobile phone with the Press the Settings key. 2. Tap the Bluetooth icon. 3. Swipe the Bluetooth toggle to the right to enable Bluetooth functionality. 4. Once your mobile phone has been discovered, tap your mobile phone in the list of Available Devices. 5. A Bluetooth pairing request displays on both the Mitel phone and your mobile phone. 6. Ensure that the pairing code matches and tap YES on the Mitel phone. 7. Tap the OK button to acknowledge the successful connection. 8. The connected mobile phone will be added to the list of Paired Devices and is ready to use. NOTE: Follow the same steps above to pair a Bluetooth headset to the Mitel 6940 phone. Accessing Mobile Contacts 1. Press the Contacts key. 2. Tap Mobile 3. Tap the contact s name to call. Viewing Mobile Call History 1. Press the Call History key. 2. Tap Missed (below My Mobile) 3. 7 MOBILE LINK (CONT) When your mobile phone is paired and connected to the Mitel 6940 phone, incoming calls to your mobile phone will be indicated on your Mitel 6940 phone as well. Answering Inbound Mobile calls 1. Caller ID will display at the top of the LCD screen and on the Mobile Line. 2. Press the Speaker/Headset key or tap Answer to answer the call. 3. Press Decline to reject the call and send the caller to your mobile voic . Push call from Mitel 6940 to Mobile 1. While on a call, ensure that your phone is connected through Bluetooth. 2. Tap the Push call softkey to push the call to your mobile phone. Pull a mobile call to the Mitel 6940 phone 1. While on a call, ensure that your phone is connected through Bluetooth. 2.
