Please elaborate on the recent brand campaigns by Aircel. Ans. Aircel s recent brand campaign Extra captures the joy experienced when we unexpectedly get a little extra. Under Extra, Aircel has launched three products and services till date offering that little extra in value and delight for its subscribers be it through Extra SMS, Extra Talk Time or Extra Data. Q. What are the various brand properties that Aircel sponsors? Ans. Aircel is currently associated with the Chennai Super Kings, Chennai Open, the country s only ATP tennis tournament and Lajong football club in Shillong. Q. What is the objective of such associations? Ans. Youth being our primary target segment, the objective is to connect with them better. Aircel and the Wikimedia Foundation today have announced a partnership to offer Wikipedia on mobile phones without any data charges to Aircel customers. The alliance is aimed at making knowledge available on Wikipedia accessible to all Aircel customers in both rural and urban areas for free. This is the first service of its kind to formally launch in India. This partnership is part of the Wikimedia Foundation's Wikipedia Zero program, which focuses on reaching the billions of people around the world whose primary opportunity to access the internet is via a mobile device. It aims at overcoming the challenges and meeting the financial needs of India s unbanked population, a majority of whom face many hurdles in managing their finances such as reliability of intermediaries, distance to formal banking infrastructure, legitimate KYC, and financial illiteracy. It offers a range of financial services on a mobile phone such as cash deposits and cash withdrawals, money transfer to third parties, self-reload of prepaid mobile credit, and various utility bill

The Mobile Money service will harness Aircel s vast retailer and distribution reach and its expertise in mobile network and customer-care centres, along with ICICI Bank s strong pedigree in secure retail banking therefore delivering a safe, secure and instant suite of financial services for Aircel customers. Meanwhile Visa, the global payments technology company will deploy its Mobile Managed Service to host and manage the Mobile Money platform. Aircel brings to the partnership not only our mobile network but just as importantly our attention and care in serving millions of customers every day with many millions of small cash transactions through our vast retailer and distributor setup. Q. Where is the Mobile Money service currently available? Ans. The service is currently available in Tamil Nadu to specifically cater for the needs of the large migrant working population from Tirunelveli now living and working in Chennai. Q. What are the recent products and services that Aircel has launched in the data space? Ans. Aircel recently launched Pocket Internet 24 (PI-24). It is targeted at first time mobile internet users where we are enabling our customers to experience and experiment internet on their mobile phones at an economical price of less than Re. 1 per day. Similarly, by using our another innovative product 3G Mornings, the customers were able to get unlimited access to 3G data from 6.00AM to 9.00AM for 30 days absolutely free. Q. What is the company doing on the MVAS front? Ans. The rapid growth of VAS and Data is expected to contribute an important share in the revenue stream of the telecom industry. At Aircel as well, we have taken note on the shifting subscriber usage pattern and have devised many products and services especially in our Data-VAS segment. Last year at Aircel, music and games continued to grow at a very strong rate. Games alone contributed to 25% of the data VAS consumption in 2012, followed closely by videos and music at 22% and 20% respectively. Overall, the data VAS segment has been doing its bit to generate revenues and has emerged as one of the fastest growing revenue segments for Aircel. Q. Please elaborate on telco app Stores. What is Aircel doing in this space? Ans. The content offered by telco app stores is not handset specific and therefore, can be used across all phones. Moreover, the billing capabilities of a telecom company let users download paid apps using their pre-paid/ post-paid accounts. In a country like ours where credit penetration is still relatively low, this offers a huge benefit to the customers who either don t use credit cards or are not too comfortable using it on mobile.

9 Telco app stores, such as Aircel s PocketInternet Store, offer a lot to its customers in terms of flexibility and freedom. Aircel has tried the retail route for selling games (which is the key category of app downloads) with the launch of Aircel PocketInternet Games. This provides bundled data along with some of the best games available for handsets on our network. We are seeing good initial traction on this.

10 Corporate Social Responsibility Q. Did Aircel undertake any initiatives for the World Tiger Day (July 29, 2013)? Ans. Aircel undertook multiple initiatives across cities for World Tiger Day. In Delhi, movie screenings and talks by tiger experts on tiger conservation and environment were held at Modern School, Barakhamba Road. A part of its Save our Tigers initiative, the event witnessed active participation of students from 21 schools with renowned environmentalists. Also, on the eve of World Tiger Day, Aircel organized a Community Wall Art in Guwahati to raise awareness about tiger conservation. A part of its Save Our Tigers campaign, the event witnessed active participation from renowned painters, students from art schools, Aircel employees and their families, who gathered at Artist Guild office at Chandmari Flyover for painting the wall on the theme Save Our Tigers. On the same day, Aircel organized a Painting Competition with students of a+ to raise awareness about tiger conservation. A part of its Save Our Tigers campaign, the event witnessed active participation from students, Aircel employees and their families, who gathered to celebrate the day through movie screening, competition and talks by conservationists. Q. What is the focus of Aircel s CSR programme? Ans. Aircel s Corporate Responsibility, strongly supports causes that have a societal and an environmental impact. This not only reiterates our belief of working with communities, their sustenance, but also places us as a brand that strongly believes in the future of India and its youth. In a country as large as ours, there are innumerable causes and issues that may be taken up and adopted by corporates. At Aircel, we decided to create an impact in the field of environment and education and began work on Save Our Tigers and Aircel a+ respectively. Q. Please elaborate on Aircel s Save Our Tigers initiative. Ans. Aircel feels strongly about our rich bio-diversity and natural capital and started the Save Our Tigers campaign in Today, the cause has cut across all segments and we have been able to garner huge support towards the same. With an aim to awaken the nation on the plight of the Tiger, Aircel along with NDTV hosts the Save Our Tigers Telethon. Over the last couple of years, we have received donations over Rs 10 Crores from the public to work on Tiger conservation. We partnered with the Wildlife Conservation Trust to implement projects on ground towards the cause. This year, Aircel also unveiled its Save Our Tigers calendar at its Strokes for Stripes event. 16 of India s leading artists were invited to paint for the cause. These paintings were auctioned at the event and the proceeds were utilized in capacity building at Sathyamangalam Tiger reserve through our NGO partner - WildLife Trust of India.

11 Kids for Tigers is a wildlife conservation initiative driven by a national campaign envisioned and implemented by Sanctuary Asia over a decade ago. Conducted in Schools across 15 cities, the programme uses the Tiger as a metaphor for all of nature and as a symbol of the environmental health of the habitats in which it is found. Q. Tell us about about Aircel s Tiger Conservation Project in Dudhwa. Ans, Building on its commitment to the cause of tiger conservation in India, Aircel has extended its support to Tiger Conservation Project in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve in association with Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) and Forest Department, Uttar Pradesh. As part of our Save Our Tigers initiative, the project aims to mitigate conflict in Dudhwa Tiger landscape. Therefore, the project entails setting up of a Rapid Response Team and Primary Response Teams which shall be the main fronts dealing with conflict situations. Q. Please elaborate on Aircel s a+ programe. Ans. Aircel being a youth focused brand conceived this initiative in the second half of Aircel a+ is a computer & internet literacy and vocational & skill development programme designed to target the underprivileged youth in the age group Today, we have 20 such centers running in partnership with various NGO s. Besides the Microsoft ULIP Computer Literacy syllabus, we have certified trainers teaching vocational courses like data entry, retail, call center, collection, life skills etc. Q. What other projects does Aircel support? Ans. Aircel supports the Satya Bharti school program. It was launched in 2006, aiming to provide quality education to underprivileged children in the rural areas. The program also focuses on the girl child and promotes right to education. Q.
