The 15 hour time limit consists of a 3 hour session followed by a 12 hour session which may be organised as deemed appropriate by the centre. The evaluation must be completed on an answer booklet under formal supervision. Centres must take this into consideration when arranging the date for the DA3 practical examination. The visiting examiner will bring the question paper to the centre along with information on how to despatch the completed evaluations. The work must be despatched immediately after completion and should be received by the examiner 48 hours after the DA3 practical exam. Rock specimens should be opened and checked on receipt. Specimens and geological equipment for testing should be arranged appropriately for candidates use. Question papers, Resource Sheets and Mineral Data Sheets to be opened at the beginning of the assessment session. Candidates have 1½ hours to complete the assessment. The marking scheme will be supplied via the WJEC secure website by midday on Friday 1 May. Candidates scripts should be marked and the appropriate sample despatched to moderator by 15 May. Marks will then need to be entered via the online marks submission area of the WJEC secure website in order to generate the list of candidates who will make up the sample.
