2 Applicants are required to apply for University courses by the deadline of 19 July 2018 at 2pm. Apart from being in possession of a first cycle degree obtained with at least Second Class (Honours) or Category II as indicated for each area, applicants shall: a) submit a Police Good Conduct Certificate issued by the Commissioner of Police in terms of the Conduct Certificates Ordinance; and b) not be included in the Register established under the Protection of Minors (Registration) Act. For Art: All such applicants are required to also present a detailed portfolio showing a diversity of their recent artistic practice in different media. Applicants may be requested to sit for an interview and to provide more information about their artistic background and interest in the teaching profession. In addition to the qualifications listed above, some areas of specialisation require applicants to be in possession of credits in particular areas of study or in other areas of study as approved by the Board of Studies. The areas of study on offer, as well as the maximum number of students that can be accepted, are set in light of the availability of human resources and the number of suitable classes available for the field placement component. If the number of fully qualified applicants exceeds the number of students that can be accepted in particular teaching areas, applicants will be placed in rank order according to criteria approved by Senate. Interviews for selection of applicants will be held where there is a tie for any remaining place/s in a teaching area. For the selection criteria please refer to: data/assets/pdf_file/0018/250128/mtlbls.pdf For the purpose of selection, applicants who will have applied by the deadline of 19 July 2018 at 2pm and are fully qualified by 31 August 2018 (including being in possession of the full Entry Requirements for the course) will be considered first and will be placed in rank order. Those for whom places are available will be accepted and informed accordingly. If vacant places are still available in particular areas of study offered, applicants who become fully qualified after 31 August 2018 and before 30 September 2018 (including being in possession of the full Entry Requirements for the course and having submitted the above mentioned documents) will be placed in rank order and accepted to take up any remaining places. If at any time, the Faculty of Education, upon ascertaining that more suitable classes for the field placement, and that more professional support in schools has been made available, may increase the maximum number of registered students that may be admitted in any specific teaching area V1.
