1 Page 1 of 8 HPE 3PAR Operating System Features Standard 3PAR Operating System Features Access Guard Access Guard is an HPE 3PAR OS feature that delivers user configurable volume security at logical and physical levels by enabling you to secure hosts and ports to specific virtual volumes. Adaptive Flash Cache Adaptive Flash Cache provides DRAM cache extension by leveraging HPE 3PAR first in class virtualization technologies. This functionality allows dedicating a portion of SSDs capacity as an augmentation of the HPE 3PAR Array primary cache, reducing application response time for readintensive I/O workloads and improving write throughput in mixed workload environments Autonomic Groups HPE 3PAR Autonomic Groups is an HPE 3PAR OS software feature that brings a new provisioning paradigm to clustered and virtual server environments by building on the same innovation featured by HPE 3PAR Rapid Provisioning. Autonomic Groups is designed to reduce room for human error by eliminating manual repetition of tedious commands, thereby making the provisioning process more reliable. This software feature also simplifies reporting by enabling users to pull boot and data disk utilization statistics from different clusters with just a single command. In addition, when used together with HPE 3PAR Virtual Domains, Autonomic Groups allows multiple independent virtual domains to be grouped as a single logical entity to simplify storage administration while maintaining the integrity of individual virtual domains. For example, backing up an autonomic domain group actually backs up all virtual domains in the group to a single backup server while still maintaining the security and isolation associated with each individual domain. Full Copy Full Copy is an HPE 3PAR OS feature that allows you to create point in time clones with independent service level parameters. Full Copy offers online operations so that the destination clone can be immediately exported, rapid resynchronizations and thin provisioning awareness. LDAP Support Support Native support for lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) within the HPE 3PAR OS delivers centralized user authentication and authorization using a standard protocol for managing access to IT resources. With support for LDAP, you can now integrate HPE 3PAR Utility StoreServ Storage with standard, open enterprise directory services. The result is simplified security administration with centralized access control and identity management.

2 Page 2 of 8 OS Administration Tools The HPE 3PAR Operating System offers industry leading ease of use through a simple, unified InForm Management Console and an extremely powerful, scriptable InForm Command Line Interface (CLI). Manage your entire utility storage deployment from a single window, including remote replication to disaster recovery sites. The 3PAR Remote CLI gives you powerful customization capabilities that are simple to configure, eliminating the need for extra tools and consulting. Open administration support is provided via SNMP and the Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI S). Persistent Cache HPE 3PAR Persistent Cache is a resiliency feature built into the HPE 3PAR OS that allows "always on" application and virtual server environments to gracefully handle an unplanned controller failure. Persistent Cache eliminates the substantial performance penalties associated with traditional arrays and "write through" mode so that 3PAR StoreServ Storage Servers can maintain required service levels even in the event of a cache or controller node failure. HPE 3PAR Persistent Cache leverages the clustered HPE 3PAR Architecture with its unique Mesh Active design to preserve write caching by rapidly re mirroring cache to the other nodes in the cluster in the event of a failure. Persistent Cache is supported on all quadnode and larger HPE 3PAR arrays, including StoreServ 7400 and the InServ F400 making 3PAR HPE the only vendor to incorporate this industryleading service level protection capability into midrange as well as high end arrays. Persistent Checksum HPE 3PAR Persistent Checksum: Persistent Checksum is a data integrity feature built in to the HPE 3PAR OS that ensures data integrity to ensure end to end data protection via a T10 Data Integrity Field (DIF). Persistent Checksum addresses media and transmission errors that can be caused by any component in the I/O stack and provides additional protection above FC/Iscsi/ CRC transmissions. With supported HBA s on hosts T10 DIF tags are added and verified on the HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage system and when host HBA s are not supported T10 DIF tags are added and verified on the array target ports and backend HBA s before dat is written to the array drives. This technology is available on systems with GEN5 ASIC only. Persistent Ports HPE 3PAR Persistent Ports is a Tier 1 resiliency feature that allows for non disruptive online software upgrades on HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage systems without relying on multipathing software. This feature, available on all HPE 3PAR StoreServ models, brings increased Tier 1 resiliency, across the StoreServ product line including the midrange platform by ensuring that host paths remain online throughout the software upgrade process. The use of standard NPIV (N_Port ID Virtualization) technology as defined by the Technical Committee T11 in the Fibre Channel Link Services (FC LS) specification enables a single host facing StoreServ port to assume the identity of additional pre designated partner ports, thus enabling transparent switchover of host path connections. Persistent Port Technology is also designed to work with iscsi and FcoE connectivity. Starting from HPE 3PAR OS Persistent Ports also autonomically fails over a front end controller node port that experiences physical connection loss from a cable pull or a failed switch; this unique capability, for now is available for FC connectivity only. RAID MP (Multi Parity) HPE 3PAR RAID MP (Multi Parity) introduces Fast RAID 6 technology backed by the accelerated performance and Rapid RAID Rebuild capabilities of the 3PAR ASIC. 3PAR RAID MP is supported on all HPE 3PAR StoreServ models and delivers extra RAID protection that prevents data loss as a result of double disk failures. RAID MP delivers this enhanced protection while maintaining performance levels within 15% of RAID 10 and with capacity overheads comparable to popular RAID 5 modes. For this reason, 3PAR RAID MP is ideal for large disk drive configurations for example, Serial ATA (SATA) drives above 1 TB in capacity.

3 Page 3 of 8 Rapid Provisioning The HPE 3PAR OS eliminates array planning by delivering instant, application tailored provisioning through the fine grained virtualization of lowerlevel components. Provisioning is managed intelligently and autonomically. Massively parallel and fine grained striping of data across internal resources assures high and predictable service levels for all workload types. Service conditions remain high and predictable as the use of the system grows or in the event of a component failure while traditional storage planning, change management, and array specific professional services are eliminated. 3PAR Scheduler HPE 3PAR Scheduler also helps automate storage management, reduce administration time, and decrease the chance of administrative error. Scheduler does this by giving users full control over creation and deletion of virtual copy snapshots a process that is now completely automated with HPE 3PAR Utility StoreServ Storage. When used in conjunction with Autonomic Groups, HPE 3PAR Scheduler automates virtual copy snapshots across multiple boot and data volumes with full write consistency across all these different volumes. HPE 3PAR Thin Technologies includes the following features: Thin Provisioning HPE 3PAR Thin Provisioning is the most comprehensive thin provisioning software solution available. Since its introduction in 2002, HPE 3PAR Thin Provisioning has been widely considered the gold standard in thin provisioning. It leverages dedicate on write capabilities of HPE 3PAR StoreServ to make storage more efficient and greener, allowing customers to purchase only the disk capacity they actually need and only when they actually need it. With Thin Provisioning software, there is no more up front capacity allocation. No more dedicating resources for each application. Getting thin has never been so easy. HPE 3PAR Thin Conversion software is an optional feature that converts a fully provisioned volume to a thin provisioned or Thin Deduplication volume during data migration. Virtual volumes (VVs) with large amounts of allocated but unused space are converted to thin volumes that are much smaller than the original volume. During the conversion process, allocated but unused space is discarded and the result is a volume that uses less space than the original volume. Thin Persistence HPE 3PAR Thin Persistence software is an optional feature that keeps thin volumes (TVs) and read/write snapshots of TVs small by detecting pages of zeros during data transfers and not allocating space for the zeros. This feature works in real time and analyzes the data before it is written to the source TV or read/write snapshot of the TV. Freed blocks of 16 KiB of contiguous space are returned to the source volume, freed blocks of 128 MiB of contiguous space are returned to the common provisioning group (CPG) for use by other volumes. With HPE 3PAR Thin Persistence, HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage customers can now leverage next generation space reclamation technology to help minimize storage total cost of ownership (TCO). Thin Copy Reclamation An industry first, Thin Copy Reclamation keeps your storage as lean and efficient as possible by reclaiming unused space resulting from deleted virtual copy snapshots and remote copy volumes. Thin Copy Reclamation is built on a virtualization mapping engine for space reclamation called HPE 3PAR Thin Engine, which is included as part of the HPE 3PAR OS. HPE 3PAR Thin Copy Reclamation software is an optional feature that reclaims space when snapshots are deleted from a system. As snapshots are deleted, the snapshot space is reclaimed from a TV or fully provisioned virtual volume and returned to the CPG for reuse by other volumes. Deleted snapshot space can be reclaimed from virtual copies, physical copies, or remote copies. Thin Deduplication HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage systems employ purpose built HPE 3PAR ASICs at the heart of each controller node that feature efficient, silicon based mechanisms to drive inline deduplication. This unique implementation relies on built in hardware capability to assign a unique hash to any incoming write request and leverages the HPE 3PAR Thin Provisioning metadata lookup table for fast hash comparisons. When new I/O requests come in, the signatures of the incoming data are compared to the signatures of the data already stored in the array. When a match is found, the software marks the data as duplicated. The software also leverages the controller node ASICs to perform a bit to bit comparison that reduces the possibility of hash collision. The CPU intensive job of calculating signatures of incoming data and read verify is offloaded to the hardware assist engines, freeing up processor cycles to deliver advanced data services and service I/O requests

5 Page 5 of 8 This inline deduplication process carries multiple benefits, including increasing capacity efficiency, protecting flash performance, and extending flash media lifespan. Other storage architectures lack the processing power to simultaneously drive inline deduplication and the high performance levels demanded by flash based media while also offering advanced data services (replication, quality of service [QoS], and federation). Thin Clones HPE 3PAR Thin Clones software is an extension of Thin Deduplication software for server virtualization environments, providing host initiated deduplication that produces non duplicative virtual machine clones for Microsoft Hyper V and VMware ESXi. These VM clones are created instantly by leveraging copy offload for VMware vstorage APIs for Array Integration (VAAI) and Microsoft Offloaded Data Transfer (ODX) technology without increasing capacity consumption on the HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage system. HPE 3PAR Thin Clones software leverages Thin Deduplication to update the metadata table without copying data, using the inline deduplication technology to reduce capacity footprint as new write requests come in. A thin clone is a replica of a VM that is created through copying only the metadata that associates a virtual volume with the physical data on disk. At initial creation, thin clones point to the same blocks of data as the cloned VM, however, as volumes are updated and the content of data changes, new writes will map to different deduplicated blocks (or create new blocks), so no direct overwrite process occurs. Thin clones continue to stay thin if updated data continues to map to existing deduplicated data on the array. Web Services API HPE 3PAR Web Services API delivers a programming interface for implementing durable automation of storage management tasks with HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage systems. Web Services API provides a well defined application programming interface that customers can use for incorporating the storage infrastructure into their platform for end to end automation of their service delivery and management. The Web Services API implementation is based on RESTful Web API service using HTTPS, principles of REST, and data structures represented with JSON (JavaScript Object Notation). 3PAR Operating System Optional Features Data Optimization Adaptive Optimization HPE 3PAR Adaptive Optimization software delivers the next generation in storage tiering by taking a fine grained, highly automated approach to service level improvement. Policy driven, granular data movement takes place autonomically, providing highly reliable, non disruptive, costeffective storage tiering at the sub volume level; thus delivering the right QoS to the right data at the right time. HPE 3PAR Adaptive Optimization software operates on the principle of I/O access density, which is based on the observation that for most applications, a very small amount of the total user data receives most of the I/O accesses. By configuring only the very active data blocks on Tier 0 storage and the rest of your application data on SAS or nearline SAS storage, an HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage system configured with a small number of SSDs can deliver higher performance at a lower cost than traditional storage platforms. HPE 3PAR Adaptive Optimization software works with the HPE 3PAR Security Software Suite to analyze actual user I/O patterns, which enables Adaptive Optimization software to move only the blocks with high I/O activity to premium SSD storage.

6 Page 6 of 8 Dynamic Optimization HPE 3PAR Dynamic Optimization software enables organizations to achieve peak data QoS levels at the lowest cost, at all times, across all stages of the disk based data lifecycle. It enables users to alter service levels associated with a storage volume non disruptively (RAID level, subsystem failure protection level, drive type, stripe width, or radial placement) and to rebalance storage volumes, each with a single click. HPE 3PAR Policy Advisor for Dynamic Optimization software is an add on application that analyzes how volumes on HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage uses physical disk space and makes intelligent, autonomic adjustments to facilitate improved volume distribution and tiering of storage volumes. Converts fully provisioned volumes to thin volumes (and vice versa) and converts thin or fully provisioned volumes to deduplicated volumes to save space. This space can then be utilized for volumes that are sparsely consumed and this results in performance acceleration as the impact is migration of FAT volumes to a hard disk drive (HDD) tier from a SSD tier. Priority Optimization HPE 3PAR Priority Optimization software ensures that mission critical applications get the required service level and performance without contention. This software enables certainty and predictability for each application and tenant, so you can meet business needs. Create and modify threshold limits, including I/O per second and bandwidth and configure thresholds with real time enforcement in seconds and sub seconds. HPE 3PAR Priority Optimization software enables service levels for applications, virtual domains, and workloads as business requirements dictate. It protects mission critical applications in enterprise environments by specifying service level objectives (SLOs) and service level caps for IOPS (i.e., performance) and bandwidth. You can also define latency goals for your most mission critical applications. If these goals are not met, Priority Optimization software automatically adjusts the service levels of lower priority applications and workloads to assure necessary QoS levels for your highest priority applications. Eliminate resource contention by throttling the I/O of one or more workloads to enable performance of others, ensuring your high priority applications and workloads meet their QoS targets. Peer Motion HPE 3PAR Peer Motion software is a non disruptive, do it yourself data migration tool for enterprise block storage. HPE 3PAR Peer Motion software customers can load balance I/O workloads across systems at will, perform technology update seamlessly, reduce costs for asset lifecycle management and lower capital expenditure (CAPEX) associated with technology refresh. Unlike traditional block migration approaches, HPE 3PAR Peer Motion software enables customers to migrate storage volumes between any HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage online, non disruptively and without complex planning or dependency on extra tools. HPE 3PAR Peer Motion software leverages HPE 3PAR ASIC to power the simple and rapid inline conversion of inefficient, fat volumes on source arrays to more efficient, higherutilization thin volumes on the destination system. Peer Motion Manager, a built in capability within HPE 3PAR Management Console orchestrates all stages of the data migration lifecycle to enable data migration that is simple and foolproof. Replication/Multi System Virtual Copy HPE 3PAR Virtual Copy software flexibly delivers instant point in time copies of your data, so you can share and protect data from almost any application simply and affordably. Use HPE 3PAR Virtual Copy software to stay ahead of the innovation curve, for example, by enabling rapid

Most traditional copy solutions lack flexibility and require too great an investment in online capacity to be considered economical. HPE 3PAR Virtual Copy software is a reservation less, non duplicative, copy on write software that consumes capacity only for changed data, in fine grained increments and without ever duplicating changed data within a snapshot tree Remote Copy HPE 3PAR Remote Copy software dramatically reduces the cost of remote data replication and DR by leveraging thin copy technology, enabling multi site and multi mode replication with both midrange and high end arrays and reducing the need for professional services. HPE 3PAR Remote Copy software offers fast and autonomic DR configuration; it can be set up and tested almost in minutes, from a single window. This software leverages the HPE 3PAR Thin Express ASIC to utilize expensive Remote Copy bandwidth efficiently. With support for synchronous long distance replication, you can have an affordable, multi site alternative for achieving low recovery time objectives (RTOs) and zero data loss recovery point objectives (RPOs) with complete distance flexibility. Peer Persistence HPE 3PAR Peer Persistence software helps companies to federate their HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage systems present at geographically separated data centers. This inter site federation of storage allows customers to use their data centers more effectively by allowing them to move applications from one site to another as per their business need, and more importantly, without any application downtime. HPE 3PAR Peer Persistence software leverages the robust high availability (HA) solutions already available on HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage systems and extends it even further by enabling a peer relationship between two HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage systems located at geographically separated sites. Peer Persistence software is built on the same industryleading mesh active and massively parallel architecture that HPE 3PAR is known for and thereby allows HPE 3PAR customers with Remote Copy software setup to deploy Peer Persistence software without any appliance or additional hardware needed. HPE 3PAR Peer Persistence software enables automatic switchover and switchback between two sites or data centers to be transparent to hosts and without any disruption to applications running on them. Peer Persistence software is VMware vsphere Metro Storage Cluster (vmsc) certified and is deployed with Remote Copy software without any additional support or resources. Security Virtual Domains By providing administrative segregation of users, hosts, and application data, HPE 3PAR Virtual Domain software allows hosting providers to deliver virtual private array services and enterprise IT organizations to deliver self service storage that is both protected and capable of high QoS levels. Through consolidation onto the massively parallel and dynamically tiered HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage, individual user groups and applications achieve greater storage service levels (performance, availability, and functionality) than pre consolidation levels with less infrastructure. HPE 3PAR Virtual Domains software is ideal for both internal and external storage service providers and for any enterprise deploying a converged infrastructure.

8 Page 8 of 8 Virtual Lock HPE 3PAR Virtual Lock software gives users the ability to protect data volumes and volume copies from intentional or unintentional deletions. During the user specified retention period, volumes and copies can be read but are protected against deletion, even by an administrator with the highest level user privileges. HPE 3PAR Virtual Lock software is thin aware, so it works on both standard and thin provisioned storage volume copies, and is completely compatible with HPE 3PAR Virtual Copy, HPE 3PAR Remote Copy, and HPE 3PAR Thin Provisioning software. Reporting System Reporter HPE 3PAR System Reporter enables users to do complete reporting of their HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage systems. It is a feature rich analytical engine, which helps users interpret collected performance data. Once an HPE 3PAR StoreServ system is installed, System Reporter automatically collects data on a number of different object data points in the background without the need of any additional setup. HPE 3PARinfo HPE 3PARInfo is a host based command line utility that provides valuable information on the volume mapping between the host and the HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage. HPE 3PARInfo can also be remotely deployed, using the HPE 3PARInfo Remote Deployment tool that enables the user to remotely install HPE 3PARInfo concurrently onto multiple supported hosts.
