2 Aim of the Training The ECQA Certified Integrated Designer Course is specifically designed for providing functional designers and architects with the knowledge and skills needed to understand the best practices to coordinate a cross functional design team involving the competencies of many different engineering departments. Participants, who will successfully pass the ECQA exam for ECQA Certified Integrated Designer, will be able to justify their skills with the Europe wide market recognised certificate. It will provide them with the key skills to manage complex systems involving different engineering departments. Background The ECQA certified integrated designer is one of the eighteen job roles, for which the certification and training schema is running all over Europe. The ECQA ( is a non-profit association and provides an examination and certification system. Meanwhile other authorised bodies provide training services as well The certification and the training system comply with guidelines for European Qualification Framework, aimed to assure that trainings offered all over Europe are comparable in relation to content and outcomes. Accreditation of exam organizations, training organizations and trainers assure that the same level of service quality is assured all over Europe. Target Group Functional designers Functional designers of complex systems nowadays need to coordinate their work with experts in the electronic, mechanics, and software departments. In many cases these experts are distributed teams and a cross functional collaborative design becomes necessary. idesigner offers insight into best practices for collaborative design. System architects System architectures describe components, interfaces, functional flows and dependencies. idesigner offers access to best practices on how certain complex aspects of systems design have been solved by collaborative design principles. Software Architects Nowadays software can not be considered as an independent system any more. Software is part of bigger systems and thus the software architecture and software functions need to be consistent with system functions and functional design therefore a cross disciplinary understanding is required

3 Production experts idesigner also addresses aspects where the system design influences the production process and illustrates best practice principles. Safety Designers idesigner includes case studies where complex design cases including the implementation of SIL levels in products have been implemented. 4 - Contextualisation of Knowledge Collaborative Integrated Design - Design Process Moderation - Working in Distributed Engineering Teams - Communication with Experts from different Domains Selected Aspects of Integration Assignments The training will be based on assignments, active elaborations by the course participants, and discussions. All course participants will learn about collaborative design scenarios for their organisation (= outcome of the course). Specifically the following exercises will be emphasised: - Analysis of how collaborative design is supported by the products/system/software-life cycle - Applying best practices to master complex design aspects in your projects and discussion with trainer - Formulating experiences and best practices in collaborative design in a way that it can be transported as knowledge in your organisation - Analysing and making suggestions to improve collaborative design teams Each week a Skype conference is organised where the training material is briefly explained, the assignments and goals are introduced and the previous assignments are discussed. Trainers are also available during the week for individual Skype conferences or discussions. Certification and Exams To be accredited as an ECQA Certified Integrated Designer ALL elements need to be passed. The multiple choice exam will be online on the ECQA Skill & Exam System. The exam is modular, which means that if a participant passes a certain element that element is recognised as successfully passed element on the long term. On the certificate all elements, which the participant passed, are listed. For examination of missing elements participant may apply to a new exam, independently of previous exams. Each element includes 10 random generated multiple choice questions. To pass the element at least 66,7% has to be reached. The exam takes 4 hours and approximately 150 questions have to be answered. Those participants which have passed will be published on the ECQA web page list of ISQI/ECQA Certified E-Learning (if they approve the publishing). The certificate will be issued by the European Certification and Qualification Association (ECQA)

5 Trainers Dr Volker Ovi Bachmann has more than 15 years experience in functional development, risk and FMEA analysis in the automotive and engineering field. Dr. Volker Ovi Bachmann is certified competent assessor and trained FMEA moderator. Since 2008 he is executive of Sibac GmbH. He acted as adviser for Magna Powertrain, ZF Lenksysteme, ZF Lemförde, Daimler AG and a few other medium-sized companies. The advisory activities involve quality management in close collaboration with ISCN. This includes also the accomplishment of assessments according to DIN/ISO (SPICE) as well as the consulting for development processes. Furthermore belongs the moderation of FMEAs and risk analysis and the combination of the safety standard IEC with the named methods. He is a specialist for mechatronical complete system observation and platform strategies. Dr. Bachmann has written divers national and international announcements and patents.
