1 Contact: Madison Fantozzi / mfantozzi@polk.edu polk.edu FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Polk State College District Board of Trustees Considering Changes in Fees for 2018/19 Winter Haven, April 11, The Polk State College District Board of Trustees (DBOT) will consider changes in lab fees for college credit and Educator Preparation Institute courses offered at the College at the May 21,2018 Board Meeting. Each year the College evaluates all fees to ensure that charges accurately reflect any changes in the cost of instructional materials or supplemental items required for courses. For the 2018/2019 academic year, 42 lab fees are decreasing and 5 fees are being added to serve new courses. Details of the fee changes are described below: New Fees: CET 2615C Scaling Networks CET 2615C is a new course that is replacing CET 2622C, which is being deleted from the catalog. The $60.00 fee from CET 2622C is being transferred to this course. The net increase for students enrolled in the Network Systems Engineering Technology AS program is $0.00. The lab fee is used to provide licenses for NetLabs, which allows students to complete virtual lab activities to gain hands-on experience and practice skills learned in the course. CTS 2353C Networking with Windows Server 2016 CTS 2353C Networking with Windows Server 2016 is a new course that is replacing CTS 2391C, which is being deleted from the catalog. The $60.00 fee from CTS 2391C is being transferred to this course. The net increase for students enrolled in the Network Systems Engineering Technology AS program is $0.00. The lab fee provides for the acquisition and maintenance of RAID storage hardware, which allows students to gain hands-on experience building redundant storage systems for server environments. The course number, CTS 2353C, may be changed upon approval by the Statewide Course Numbering System. CTS 2354C Installation, Storage, and Configuration with Windows Server 2016 CTS 2354C Installation, Storage, and Configuration with Windows Server 2016 is a new course that is replacing CTS 2390C, which is being deleted from the catalog. The $60.00 fee from CET 2390C is being

2 transferred to this course. The net increase for students enrolled in the Network Systems Engineering Technology AS program is $0.00. The lab fee is used to provide licenses for NetLabs, which allows students to complete virtual lab activities to gain hands-on experience and practice skills learned in the course. The course number, CTS 2354C, may be changed upon approval by the Statewide Course Numbering System. CTS 2358C Identity with Windows Server 2016 CTS 2358C Identity with Windows Server 2016 is a new course that is replacing CTS 2392C, which is being deleted from the catalog. The lab fee provides licenses for Microsoft Academy, which allows students to access professional server software from Microsoft to gain hands-on experience and practice skills learned in the course. The course number, CTS 2358C, may be changed upon approval by the Statewide Course Numbering System. CTS 2376C Firewall Services and Cybersecurity Essentials CTS 2376C Firewall Services and Cybersecurity Essentials is an existing course that is being modified to replace CET 2660C, which is being deleted from the catalog. The $60.00 fee from CET 2660C is being transferred to this course. The net increase for students enrolled in the Network Systems Engineering Technology AS program is $0.00. The lab fee provides for the acquisition and maintenance of firewall hardware, which allows students to gain hands-on experience setting up server security systems.
