4 NZQF NQ Ref 1272 Version 3 Page 4 of 12 National Diploma in Sports Turf Management (Level 6) Level 6 Credits 120 Purpose The National Diploma in Sports Turf Management (Level 6) [Ref: 1272] recognises the skills of an experienced senior manager of sports turf and amenity facilities. It enables senior managers to develop a broad range and depth of skills and knowledge in sports turf management and related areas that meet their personal and professional needs. The compulsory section recognises the skills required to performance test a sports turf surface, prepare a sport facility to host a major event, and develop and present a proposal for machinery purchase by a sports turf organisation. Elective 1 enables people to select broader and higher level sports turf standards while Elective 2 enables people to select related standards at Level 5 or above from a range of subfields or domains. This structure allows people to develop competence relevant to their location, work situation and personal development objectives while still retaining a strong focus on sports turf management. Holders of this qualification will be able to undertake a range of high level organisational and sports turf management activities. They will be able carry out a range of specialised operations involving self directed work and management of people and work processes. This qualification leads on from the National Certificate in Sports Turf (Level 5) [Ref: 1558] and the National Certificate in Sports Turf Management (Level 4) [Ref: 0203]. The National Certificate in Sports Turf (Level 5) [Ref: 1558] is not a prerequisite for entry to this qualification. On completion of this qualification people can progress to generic business management qualifications such as the National Diploma in Business (Level 6) [Ref: 1499]. Replacement information This qualification replaced the National Diploma in Sports Turf Management (Level 6) [Ref: 0204] and the National Diploma in Sports Turf Management (Level 7) [Ref: 0205]. Special notes Credit transfer arrangements have been provided for a selection of relevant Massey University papers.

The purpose statement was updated with an explanation of the relationship between this qualification and the National Certificate in Sports Turf (Level 5) [Ref: 1558]. Progressions following completion of this qualification were clarified and, as a result, generic business qualifications were included in the educational pathway information. Massey University Bachelor of Applied Science turf papers were removed from credit transfer arrangements and additional relevant Bachelor of AgriScience, Bachelor of AgriCommerce, and Graduate Certificate in Science and Technology papers were added.

10 NZQF NQ Ref 1272 Version 3 Page 10 of 12 Changes to structure and content The prerequisite entry requirement that candidates must hold the National Certificate in Sports Turf Management (Level 4) [Ref: 0203] was removed. Elective 2 was updated to reflect classification changes. Bachelor of Applied Science turf papers were removed from credit transfer arrangements but can still contribute to an exemption from Elective 2 credits through transition arrangements. Relevant Bachelor of AgriScience, Bachelor of AgriCommerce, and Graduate Certificate in Science and Technology papers offered by Massey University were added to credit transfer arrangements. Version 1 was republished in March 2007 to correct an error in the classification table, and minor errors in the listing of standard setting bodies and the classifications listed in Elective 2. This qualification replaced the National Diploma in Sports Turf Management (Level 6) [Ref: 0204] and the National Diploma in Sports Turf Management (Level 7) [Ref: 0205]. Certification This certificate will display the logos of NZQA, the and the organisation that has been granted consent to assess against standards that meet the requirements of the qualification (accredited). Classification This qualification is classified according to the classification system listed on the Directory of Assessment Standards (DAS) and the New Zealand Standard Classification of Education (NZSCED) system as specified below.
