5 Support for Qualified QPs CPD scheme all QPs must maintain knowledge and experience up to date Symposium topics of current interest Representing views of QPs by responding to consultation documents

12 The Assessors To assess applications prior to professional interview The application is reviewed by two assessors

13 Each professional body invites its own applicants for interview Assessors determine whether it is appropriate to invite an applicant for interview If unable to invite an applicant for interview, we will advise you how to proceed

15 The Assessors objective To confirm that the applicant meets the requirements of the study guide. To test the applicant s foundation knowledge and in-depth experience of own area of expertise. To test the applicant s ability to extrapolate their knowledge and experience outside their direct experience. Need to ensure that the applicant understands key principles and can apply them.

16 Assessors need to satisfy themselves that an applicant, after a suitable induction period, will be able to function as a QP in a licensed undertaking. Applicants will be judged not only on their ability and performance in a current post, but also on their potential suitability to carry out the duties of a QP in other licensed premises. MHRA/VMD have final decision on ML application for a QP to be named on a licence.

19 Assessment - typically 1 hr + Study Guide - applicant must demonstrate - necessary foundation knowledge - in depth experience - ability to apply knowledge and experience
