As Indiana s premier real estate education provider, RECP is pleased to offer OnDemand courses. With our OnDemand program you can take courses online at your own pace saving travel time and money, with this flexible, convenient alternative to live classes. You will be able to manage your progress, review important material and maintain your completion certificates all online. Our courses are designed to give students the information they need to pass the state pre-licensing exam and provide quality continuing education. We have a high success rate and hope you enjoy the convenience and benefits of our OnDemand program. Curriculum for all courses is developed by RECP and presented by veteran RECP instructors. All OnDemand courses are approved for credit in Indiana by the Indiana Real Estate Commission. RECP also offers live instructor lead course throughout the state of Indiana. 4 Introduction: Once you have purchased your course and are ready to being, click Launch on your course from the education portal Training Menu. Read all instructions including the Alert section at the right of the Training Menu. Note: Disregard the Activate Course field, as RECP is not using activation codes at this time. Once you launch your course you will be taken to the student course modules menu where all course modules are listed. Click Launch on the first module to begin. Course material is presented in a slideshow format with instructor voiceover. Progress through the modules by clicking Launch on each. You will be able to review material that has already been viewed but you must follow the order of the modules. You will not be able to skip forward in the material. *It is strongly recommended that you use headphones or ear buds while taking the course. Copyright RECP 2014 Page 3

5 Compatibility: You can view RECP OnDemand courses on any desktop/laptop computer with a high speed internet connection. While you may use any browser there may be specific settings that need to be changed for the browser depending on your system situation, automatic updates, etc. The course also requires a current version of Adobe Flash which can be downloaded via the link below. For the best overall experience, it is recommended that you use the Firefox web browser. Especially if you are experiencing issues accessing course content or loading modules please download the Firefox browser at the link below. Login to your account through Firefox and to access the course. Mac Computers: Mac computers present compatibility challenges for the Broker Transition Course so it is recommended that you access the course on a PC. If you must a Mac and have login or course loading difficulties please use the Firefox web browser. ipad / Tablets: The Broker Transition Course is not optimized for mobile technology at this time. While you may be able to access some parts of the course on an ipad or tablet it is not recommended. The result will not be consistent, content may not load properly and progress in the course may be affected. * New courses are in development and the goal is to have all courses optimized for mobile technology in Education Portal Icons: Access additional course items through the icons at the top right of the education portal: FAQs Click the question icon to access useful information and answers to frequently asked questions. Tools Click the tools icon to access additional course materials. You may print these to use as you go through the material. Notes If you want to take notes within the portal you may click this icon and save notes as you go through the material Message Center Click the envelope icon to submit a message to RECP staff. 6 Course Materials: The Broker Transition Course student manual files are available by module under the Tools (see Education Portal Icons section) icon in the education portal. Use the Click Here to Expand link to access the manual by section. Students may follow along with the online manual or print it and fill in the blanks. Access the manual in the way that best meets your learning needs. Managing Course Progress: OnDemand courses are programmed to keep your progress. Move through the material at your pace and begin where you left off the previous session. In order to maintain progress in the course software, please remember the following 1. You cannot move forward in the course until all material has been viewed. The course will not allow you to skip ahead in the content. 2. Do not use the back button in your browser. To review previous course slides utilize the menu to the left of the presentation or in newer courses the Previous button at the bottom left. 3. Each time you login to a new session you will see a pop-up. Always specify that you want to Keep Progress or in some modules select Yes to resume the presentation where you left off. Note: If you select Keep Progress, each time you launch a module, the program will pick up where you left off the previously. Selecting Erase Progress or closing the pop-up will start you at the beginning of the course and progress cannot be retrieved. 4. Always log out when you are finished working at the end of each session. If you do not log out of both the education portal and the website your session may time-out and progress may not be recorded or saved. Copyright RECP 2014 Page 5

7 Tests / Assessments: Once you have completed all modules in your course, return to the course menu where your modules are listed. A button/link will be available to take the Final Assessment at the top of the list of modules, to the right of the List of Activities. *There are 25 multiple choice questions included. You have one hour to complete the test and you are allowed three attempts to pass. It is always suggested that you review course material prior to taking a test/assessment. Do not leave course questions idle on your screen. Stay active as you move through the course. Note: Screen idle time is especially important during tests/assessments. Taking too long to answer questions can cause the software to time-out without saving progress. Do not access the Message Center (see Education Portal Icons section) during a test/assessment. This could take you out of the test/assessment and affect your score. The use of any Back functions are not allowed while taking the test/assessment. Be sure that you have a solid internet connection while taking the test/assessment. If you do not pass your course please refer to the RECP Policies for information on your options for retaking the course. Troubleshooting: 1.) Issue: Intermittent internet connectivity or fuzz in the internet connection. Even a few short seconds of internet issues can cause the course to freeze or cause errors during tests. Solution: Use another computer or access the OnDemand course using another more reliable internet connection. Possibly check with your internet provider to see if they are experiencing a downtime or outage. 2.) Issue: Clicking the Continue or Submit button(s) more than once during tests. Solution: Use a single click on buttons during tests and wait for the screen to refresh. 3.) Issue: Leaving the education portal or the website open on your computer and/or not logging out between course sessions can affect course progress. Solution: Log completely out of the education portal and the RECP website. Close all of your browser windows. Always login to your account via a fresh session to launch the course. 8 4.) Issue: Leaving a test question idle on the screen for too long causing a time-out. Solution: Know the material because you will not have time to look-up every answer. Read the question, respond and move on to the next question. Take tests/assessments all in one session/setting. NOTE: Errors prevent test/assessment completion data from being reported to RECP, so unfortunately there is no way of retrieving answers if it occurs. You will need to start at the beginning of the test/assessment. Course Survey: After completing your Course Assessment a button/link will be available to take the Course Survey at the top right of the course student menu where the modules are listed. You must take the survey to complete the course requirements and have access to your completion certificate. We appreciate your comments and suggestions so please send us your feedback. Completion Certificates: If you pass the test/assessment you will have access to print your course completion certificate through the education portal. A button/link will be available to access your completion certificate from the student menu at the top right of the list of modules. Click the Print Certificate button/link and be sure to print an official copy in color. You will want to maintain a copy of this certificate in your records. Copyright RECP 2014 Page 7

9 Course Provider Code: The course provider code is at the bottom right of your completion certificate. You will need this when filling out paperwork for your state license. Applying for a Broker License: After passing the Broker Transition Course follow the instructions below to obtain your Broker License. 1.) Complete the application form in the Appendix section of the course manual. Access the Appendix under the Tools icon (see Education Portal Icons section). 2.) Pay the $65.50 application fee via check or money order made out to IPLA (this fee is nonrefundable and nontransferable). 3.) Include an original copy of your course completion certificate. 4.) Send the application, fee and certificate to the address below: Indiana Real Estate Commission-IREC Indiana Professional Licensing Agency-IPLA 402 West Washington Street, Room W072 Indianapolis, Indiana Once your application has been received, IREC will review the entire application. If your application is approved, you will receive a new license number as a real estate broker. Please check the IREC free search and verify for the status of any recently submitted application. Indiana License Search & Verify: The Indiana Real Estate Commission offers a free tool to check state license statuses. To verify the status of any Indiana professional license, click the link below to do a simple search.
