5 Why digital skills must be high up the agenda Impact of digitisation on the labour force. 90% of jobs require some level of digital skills whatever the sector; all jobs will change and many will disappear. One third of the EU workforce has insufficient digital skills 40% of enterprises trying to recruit ICT professionals have difficulty doing so. We estimate more than 800,000 vacancies for ICT professionals in the EU by Impact of digitisation on society Citizens must have basic skills. Yet, 20% of them has never used the internet 5

10 Next steps to address the gap Scale up best practices Adress digital skills at the highest political level; Involve social partners in the debate; Mobilise funding! ESF, EFSI, etc. Anticipate and analyse skills needs better Studies on ICT in the workplace, more knowledge about vacancies, etc. Support Member States to modernise education 10
