1 HISTORY OF TESTBEST CHANGES ========== 8 OCTOBER 2012 v ========== The CCNA-Security test bank has been updated (5 sim questions at the end). Corrections are made to Windows 7 exam , and 133 questions have been added to the beginning of the Windows 7 exam test bank. All other test banks are disabled. NOTE: This update is just a stopgap until the new Transcender material is available. ========== 1 OCTOBER 2012 v ========== The CCNA-Security test bank has been added. Windows 7 exams and test banks are enabled, and all other test banks are disabled other than these three. ========== 23 SEPTEMBER 2012 v ========== This is a special release covering Windows 7, Configuring (exam ). All other test banks have been disabled. If you are not supporting training, then you should not need to download this distribution as Transcender test banks should cover other subject areas. ========== 29 JULY 2012 v ========== 1) Several accumulated corrections and Page 1 of 18

The remainder of the pool will be added on the next update. 3) Security+ SY0-301 has been added (532. 4) CASP exam CAS-001 has been released (208. 5) There is a known bug in the new Java v7 on Windows which does not display text colors in disabled buttons. The buttons need to be disabled so that the user cannot change an answer after a question has been scored. This means that we can no longer use color to indicate correct/incorrect answers without a lot of recoding. For the moment this has been addressed by enabling a single button which has the selected answer in green or red for correct/incorrect, and using text markers such as ***INCORRECT for the grayed out, Page 2 of 18

3 disabled buttons. 6) ICND2 headings have been corrected from CCNA. 7) Minor cosmetic issues have been addressed. ========== 23 MAY 2012 v ========== Questions of the 329 question Active Directory test bank have been rewritten. CASP exam CAS-001 questions have been rewritten with Learn Now fields populated. This is visible only to authors as of this release, until proofreading is complete. Numerous typographical corrections have been made in CCNA (including ICND1 and ICND2), Windows 7 (70-680), and Server 2008 Network Infrastructure (70-642). The CCNA exam organization by topic has been restored. This organization was removed in the prior version. ========== 22 APR 2012 v ========== Windows Server 2008, Network Infrastructure (70-642): Old content replaced with 280 new questions. Cisco (CCNA, ICND1, ICND2): Numerous corrections have been made. Windows 7, Configuring (70-680): 80 new questions are added to the beginning of the exam. Code: The TestBest code now extracts exam questions from a single subject pool based on hidden tags. For example, the ICND1, ICND2, and CCNA material all comes from the same master pool, and is extracted according to tags. This will become a selectable user feature in a future release. ========== 18 MAR 2012 v ========== Linux+ LX0-101 exam has been rewritten for the first 150 questions. Numerous corrections have been made to A+, Network+ N10-004, Security+. Page 4 of 18

5 Much of the cobranding has been changed to reflect a CECOM-only product for both the software and content. The remainder will be converted to CECOM-only in upcoming updates. The remainder of the Linux+ material, Cisco updates, and a Windows 7 refresh will follow shortly. ========== 1 MAR 2012 v ========== Linux+ LX0-101 and LX0-201 exams have been added as a working copy. These exams will be edited and checked for errors before their first intended use in two weeks. These exams are grayed out, and can be unlocked with codes that have been ed to the staff. Corrections were made to A+, Network+, Security+, and CCNA test banks. Several hundred A+ and Network+ questions have been reworded to the 20% metric. The SY0-201 exam (retired 12/31/2012) has been removed from the startup screen. ========== 26 JAN 2012 v ========== The "Learn Now" button is removed when there is no explanation content. Previously the button did not do anything when there was no Page 5 of 18

6 content, which confused the user into thinking there is a malfunction. The location of the history files, which is the only information written to the disk, has been moved from the installation folder to %TMP% on Windows (/tmp on Unix and MacOS). This allows TestBest to run from a CD without installing it on the host machine, while still tracking the user's history. This addresses an issue encountered in Fort Hood, where the equipment is provided by an organization that controls what software is installed, or prohibits installation of software. The Windows and MacOS distributions have been combined into the same distribution. There is now only one distribution ZIP file that runs from CD or from the hard drive on Windows, MacOS, and Unix. The uninstall utility has been removed because the distribution folder can simply be deleted. There are no other files nor Registry entries. A new checkbox option has been added to the Help menu when an exam is in progress "Text Enhanced Color Answers". The textual strings "CORRECT", "INCORRECT", and "CORRECT BUT NOT Page 6 of 18

7 SELECTED" are added to the green/red color coded answers. This addresses a problem encountered on the NEC supported workstations in the Fort Hood classroom building in which the color coded answers appeared without colors. A few corrections to SY0-301 and have been made. ========== 16 JAN 2012 v ========== History tracking is implemented on a per-exam basis. Users can clear history by exam or for the entire test bank. Exams are restartable from where the user left off. ICND1, ICND2 exams are updated. Numerous typo corrections have been made to the CCNA exams. ========== 9 JAN 2012 v ========== 600 out of 952 Network+ N questions are rewritten. 450 out of 744 A questions are rewritten. 292 out of 506 A questions are rewritten. ========== 3 JAN 2012 v ========== Page 7 of 18

Several changes are invisible to the user, dealing with duplicate detection and data formatting. These changes will lead to future improvements for the user such as selecting subsets of questions based on topic. ========== 1 DEC 2011 v ========== A single TestBest version has been created that replaces the prior Instructor, Classroom, and Student versions. Corrections and updates have been made to ICND1, ICND2, and CCNA based on feedback from Carl Tyndall, Rich Ouellette, Matt Donnellan, Terry Grant, and others. Cosmetic improvements have been made to the color scheme. CompTIA exams have been reorganized for consistency. Old material has been aged out. Page 8 of 18

9 Security+ SY0-301 has been taken out of draft mode. Several corrections were made to the CompTIA exams. However, there is no code yet to mine questions based on Objective or Topic, and the Points field does not enter into the score calculation. 6) An option has been added to the Author Tool (File-->Append an Exam to This Exam). This allows exams to be combined, which is helpful when multiple authors are contributing questions. It can also be used to combine the 12 CCNA exams into one complete exam that would get mined by Objective or Topic. 7) The student delivery screen and Author Tool screens have been made resizable. 8) Stray double-quotes no longer trigger errors in the Author Tool. 9) Support for run-from-cd: in some classrooms, computers are provided but installation of software is not allowed. The software can be run entirely from a CD, with no software installation, as long as nothing is written to the disk. A new keyword is added to the Config.txt file which can be configured in the Author Tool: DISABLE_HISTORY. When this keyword is Page 16 of 18
