CUCM tracks all active VoIP network components; these include phones, gateways, conference bridges, transcoding resources, and voic boxes among others. CallManager often utilizes the Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) as a communications protocol for signaling the hardware endpoints of the system, such as IP Phones. H.323, Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) or Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is used to pass call signaling to gateways. Cisco Prime Collaboration Provisioning (PCP) provides a scalable web-based solution to manage company s next-generation communication services. Prime Collaboration Provisioning manages IP communication endpoints and services in an integrated IP telephony, video, voice mail, and unified messaging environment that includes Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, Cisco Unity, Cisco Unity Express, Cisco Unity Connection systems, and Analog Gateways. My contribution to CUCM started in Jan I joined as a Developer during CallManager 4.x release which was developed using Visual Basic and ASP. (2004) The next release 5.x was in Java. From then I worked on various Java components of CUCM. Projects Bulk Administration Tool (Core Java, Struts, Informix) BAT Bulk Administration Tool (BAT) is a web application in CUCM. BAT facilitates the CUCM administrator in bulk transactions during installation, migration and system configuration. Detailed log data is generated for each BAT transaction. Import/Export Tool (Core Java, Struts, Informix) Config Tool Import/Export Tool is used to export configuration data from a Cisco Unified Communication Manager (CUCM) and import it back to a different CUCM. 3 TAPS is the tool to update the auto-registered phones with a pre-defined configuration of a dummy phone or to move the configuration from one phone an auto-registered phone of the same model Real Time Monitoring Tool (Swings, Core Java, Servlets) RTMT RTMT runs as a client-side application, uses HTTPS and TCP to monitor system performance, device status, device discovery, CTI applications, and voice messaging ports. RTMT can connect directly to devices via HTTPS to troubleshoot system problems. Web Services for 3 rd party vendors (SOAP) Serviceability XML Services Serviceability XML APIs provide remote procedure call (RPC) style operations for clients. Clients of Serviceability XML APIs can run in different OS platforms and can communicate through the standard SOAP protocol. Serviceability XML APIs provide access to core CUCM Serviceability functionality through an open and standard transport protocol and data model. Serviceability GUI (JSP, Core Java) Web application to activate and deactivate the services in CUCM. Extension Mobility (JSP, Core Java) EM Extension Mobility allows users to configure any Cisco Unified IP Phone 7940 or Cisco Unified IP Phone 7960 as their own, on a temporary basis, by logging in to that phone. After a user logs in, the phone adopts the individual user default device profile information, including line numbers, speed dials, services links, and other user-specific properties of a phone. IP Phone Manager and Assistant (Swings, Core Java, JSP) IPMA IP Manager Assistant (IPMA) enables managers and their assistants to work together effectively. IPMA comprises of a call routing service that enhances the phone capabilities for the manager, and the desktop interfaces for both the manager and the assistant. This service intercepts calls that are made to managers and routes them to selected assistants, managers, or other targets based on preconfigured call filters. The manager can change the call routing dynamically. Web Dialer (SOAP, JSP) WD Cisco Web Dialer, used in conjunction with CUCM, allows Cisco Unified IP Phone users to make calls from web and desktop applications. CDR Analysis and Reporting (JSP) CAR CAR generates reports about the users of CUCM and generates reports on the system status with respect to call processing. CAR also performs CAR database management activities. Alarm Library (Core Java) Java APIs that allow the components in CUCM to raise an Alarm with various details.
