1 JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY KOLKATA July 19, 2018 A D M I S S I O N DUAL DEGREE INTEGRATED PROGRAMME IN ECONOMICS SESSION The list is provisional and is subject to: i. fulfilling the eligibility criteria as notified earlier. ii. verification of the equivalence of marks/degrees from other Boards/Councils to those of the West Bengal council of Higher Secondary Education /Other equivalent Board/Council, wherever applicable. iii. correction in the merit position due to error, if any. If at the time of counselling/admission and verification of marks, it is found by the university authority that a student does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, s/he will not be considered for admission, even if he/she is provisionally selected for admission. a student does not have completed result at +2 level, his/her application shall be cancelled even if he/she is provisionally selected for admission. a candidate has already graduated from a college with a Bachelors degree, her/his application shall be cancelled even if he/she is provisionally selected for admission, since s/he cannot enrol herself/himself for another Bachelors degree course. a student had entered incorrect marks in his/her on-line application form, his/her rank position in the selection/merit list provided below shall be revised and corrected accordingly on the basis of actual marks obtained in the examination concerned. Those candidates who have already been admitted to any autonomous college/institution or college/institution affiliated to other universities (a) in a Bachelor s Course in the current session ( ), shall be required to produce a withdrawal/cancellation certificate from the college/institution concerned at the time of counselling/admission to this university. If they are unable to submit it at the time of counselling/admission, they may apply to the Principal Secretary, Faculty of Arts for extension of time. Under no circumstances such candidates will be allowed to submit the withdrawal certificate/ cancellation certificate after 7 days after admission, failing of which his/her admission shall be cancelled; (b) in a Bachelor s Course in the session or before, shall be required to submit an affidavit (on a Non-Judicial Stamp Paper) at the time of counselling/admission to this university that that s/he will be de-registering from that course. Proof of application of de-registration/cancellation from the course concerned must be submitted within 7 days after admission, failing of which her/his admission will be cancelled. Subsequently, cancellation/migration certificate from the institution concerned should be submitted preferably within 31 th October 2018.

2 Those candidates who have completed their 10+2 in 2017 or before but have NOT taken admission in any undergraduate course, must submit an affidavit (on a Non- Judicial Stamp Paper) that they are not registered in any other day course anywhere/elsewhere, failing of which her/his admission will be cancelled. Even if a student s marks in any particular examination at +2 (H.S) level increases after review of his/her result for that examination by the concerned Board/ Council after the last date of submission of online application (12/7/2018), such additional marks shall not be considered hereafter and at the time of counselling/admission, and his/her rank position in the provisional merit list published below shall not be changed. SC/ ST/ OBC A/ OBC B/ Permanently Disabled quota as per rules. No separate intimation will be sent to individual candidates. Candidates are to take admission in one subject only, even if their names appear in more than one list. He/she will be permitted to transfer to another subject if his/her turn comes in the merit order. All admissions are provisional. If a candidate fails to appear on the specified date and at the specified time for admission, the next candidate in order of merit will be considered for admission. Candidates will be required to bring the following documents at the time of counselling/admission: A) A print out of the on-line application. B) 2 (two) recent passport size photographs. C) Online payment receipt. D) All original marksheets, certificates including SC/ST/OBC A/OBC B certificates from competent authorities in the names of the candidates themselves where applicable, are to be shown at the time of interview for verification. E) The Madhyamik Admit Card/Certificate (for age verification). F) attested copies of all marksheets, certificates, Madhyamik Admit Card/Certificate (for age verification) are to be sumitted at the time of admission. (G)Parents/Guardian's income certificate issued by the employer with office seal for the employed person and for others by a Gazetted Officer. 3 (I) Hostel accommodation is not assured. However, outstation candidates may apply to the Dean of Students at the time of admission for hostel accommodation. Forms for the hostel admission is available on the site. It may also be collected on the day of admission. Candidates are advised to submit their application forms (price Rs.10/-) duly filled in, to the Principal Secretary immediately after the admissions are over. They are advised to enclose the following documents along with the form: A) Parents /guardian s income certificate issued by the employer with office seal for the employed person and for others from a gazetted officer. B) Certificate from the appropriate authority for verification of place of residence with the mention of the name of the nearest police station. C) SC/ST/Physical Disability/OBC-A/OBC-B certificate, if any. D) Copy of the Ration Card/Voter Identity Card. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89- SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal, unless they can produce a domicile certificate of 10-year residency in West Bengal issued by competent authority. 2. Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD category under PWD (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A and OBC- B categories must produce an OBC certificate (the date of issue of the certificate should not be earlier than June 2017) issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) they belong to; (ii) that they do not belong to creamy layer of the society, at the time of counselling/ admission. 4. XIII. Counselling/Admission Process: Names of candidates in the provisional selection list will be called on 30/7/2018 at 11:00 am. If any candidate fails to turn up on or before 1:00 pm, the seat will be offered to the next candidate in the List. If any vacancy arises after the admission of the candidates in the provisional selection list, the vacancy will be filled up in order of merit from amongst the waitlisted candidates. Names of the candidates in the provisional waiting list will be called on 30/7/2018 at 1:15 pm. If any candidate fails to turn up (when his/her name is called) the seat will be offered to the next candidate in the waiting list and that candidate shall NOT be allowed admission to this course later. They will be required to produce all original mark sheets and certificates and other documents as mentioned in (XI). The process will continue till the vacant seats are filled up. The rest of the candidates are advised to record their attendance in the Register Book/Attendance Sheet at Prof. Anita Banerjee Memorial Hall (Ground Floor, U.G. Arts Building), Jadavpur University after the seats are filled up. XIV. CLASSES WILL BEGIN ON AUGUST 1, 2018 AT 11 AM. The candidates admitted to Dual degree Integrated programme in Economics course should have at least 50% attendance of total classes held during 01/8/ /8/2018, failing which his/her studentship will be treated as cancelled without further reference.

5 The admitted students must have at least 60% attendance in each course during the entire semester to be eligible for appearing in the Semester examination as per the Examination Rules of the University. Department of Economics will introduce 5-Year (10-Semester) Dual degree Integrated programme with lateral exit and entry at the end of Sixth Semester from session Students after passing the 10+2 level shall be admitted to this programme only. The first three years (or six semesters) shall cover the existing C.B.C.S syllabus, whereas in the next two years (four semesters) the new syllabus prepared under R.U.S.A that is going to be introduced by the Department shall be taught. Students opting for exit at the end of the sixth semester shall get only the B.A (Hons.) in Economics degree, and those opting to continue shall receive the Dual degree [B.A (Hons.) and MA in Economics] at the end of successful completion of all 10 semester papers. The new Examination Rule for the Dual degree Integrated programme (Economics) shall be applicable for the students admitted to the programme in session. XV. Admission against vacancy (IF ANY) Only those waitlisted candidates will be considered for admission under vacancy, if any, who were present at the time of counselling on 30/7/2018 and recorded their attendances in the Register Book/Attendance Sheet at Prof. Anita Banerjee Memorial Hall (Ground Floor, U.G. Arts Building), Jadavpur University. Vacancies, if any, along with the names of the waitlisted candidates who have recorded their attendance will be notified on the website on 16/8/2018 after 6.00 pm. Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the university shall be duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the university to immediately report to the Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in university hostel or on university campus. If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from the University. Details of on-line submission of anti-ragging affidavit shall be made available by the Head, Department of Economics, at the time of counselling. Print out of the anti-ragging affidavit submitted on-line by the student and his/her parents must be submitted to the Head, Department of Economics within 15 (fifteen) days from the commencement of classes.
