1 Page 1 of 16 Purpose: This document provides instructions on how to record and log daily the information related to the EMC testing. The EMC lab personnel have password protected access from any workstation to this application used to maintain all EMC related information used to produce the final EMC test report. Responsibility: EMC lab personnel Method: This application helps to control and monitor the following tasks: 1. EMC Test Specifications References a. OEM core specifications b. OEM laboratory procedures & required equipment c. International specifications d. Internal specifications 2. Equipment a. Inventory (equipment makers, serial, model, software, manuals) status b. Calibration status c. Equipment periodical checkups d. Software periodical checkups 3. Environmental conditions records (temperature & humidity data being included in each report). The weekly graphical temperature and humidity charts are stored in EMC laboratory and reported as evidence upon request. 4. EMC Test Plan maker (used if no OEM template is available) 5. EMC Testing Daily Log a. Project & Product (DUT) P/N details b. Test info, reason, objective c. Equipment used for test d. Procedure used to test e. Results description/resolution f. Comments (if any) g. Report info, request#, job#, A2LA certified, test time calculation h. Report Front Page maker i. Test references & attachments j. Verification of test setup, data processing, data output, and test equipment k. Trends Log per test-id (used for drilldowns) l. Operator notes (not included in the report) m. Report Header - prior to release the final report the operator must verify that A2LA logo complies with the latest A2LA P (Advertising Policy). 2 Page 2 of EMC Test Specifications References This section maintains a list of active/obsolete OEM specs, international standards, and internal procedures referenced per each OEM test method. The user can easily filter per test title and access directly linked documents. Each OEM test method includes the required equipment list that will be automatically uploaded into test reports templates.

3 Page 3 of Equipment This section handles all inventory details. Calibration service provider, Equipment compliance to spec checkup, and Software compliance checkup sections are used to log the history of multiple tasks performed to keep up to date an inventory item. The user can print-out equipment inventory and next calibration reports. Note: Type 011 is used for EMC lab equipment; right-click on any field to filter by selection. This section is for compliance to ISO-17025: The periodicity of the equipment/software compliance checkup is at minimum 3 months or whenever one of the following occurs: Software install, upgrade, or patch to fix a bug Return from calibration New specification Specification revision change 3. Environmental conditions records (temperature & humidity data being included in each report). 4 Page 4 of EMC Test Plan Maker This section allows the creation of EMC test plans whenever the OEM templates are not applicable, for example R&D projects or client's special requests. The application produces a PDF test plan file. OEM EMC test plan templates: CHRYSLER, GM, FORD. The structure of the EMC test plan is clearly defined by OEMs. The following are sources for developing EMC test plans: OEM's EMC test method procedures International standards OEM product technical specifications (hardware and software) Supplier product manuals (hardware and software) Product Schematics The originator must be knowledgeable of all EMC test methods applicable for the OEM category of DUT in question and familiar enough with the DUT's hardware /software to determine the appropriate module's activation modes during the test and measurable parameters. He/she should be familiar with automotive communication bus systems (J1850/CAN bus) in order to determine the proper vehicle bus simulation and the DUT's activation and monitoring messages for all its functions. The originator is the key person in planning and designing an EMC compatible exerciser capable to support all requirements listed in the test plan.

5 Page 5 of EMC Testing Daily Log The new Job# creation process is triggered once EMC test request # is received from an internal/external client. The technician assigned for that test request will create a new job# template. This template can be a copy of a similar validation (product revision changes) or a completely new one. The job# template contains all the OEM test methods mentioned by client in its test request # (or even better in the approved test plan). The application estimates the EMC lab time required per test# based on details provided in the test plan like DUT operating modes, OEM test method, and equipment setup specific criteria. The application calculates the overall time required to run the job# as basis used for cost estimation in test proposal. The management approval date/signature is password protected for each test# part of job #. Signature is required for report review prior to be released to the client. a) Project & Product (DUT) P/N details

8 Page 8 of 16 f) Comments Use this section to provide EMC test results interpretations and opinions (see TEST METHOD COMPETENCY MATRIX) or to input supplemental reference information. g) Report info, request#, job#, A2LA certified, test time calculation Check Is A2LA if the Test Method is part of the A2LA accreditation scope. This will set for this particular test-id the A2LA logo in the upper left corner of each page. I left unchecked then an EMC lab logo will be displayed.

In ECN application is used to process Trends section as well as any numerical data in other sections. 7. Test Request Job Number Scheduler This is a password protected intranet application used to create and schedule Job Numbers in response to approved test requests. The data processed through this interface is linked to the core EMC LAB DATABASE. The testing done under JOB# refers to one test (e.g. ED) or a group of tests (e.g. DV/PV).

12 Page 12 of Issue Tracker This process handles any issue observed in EMC lab activity or any form of customer complaint for both technical and quality problems. An action plan is developed and the issue is assigned to the appropriate person. It is a password protected intranet application that sends automatically s related to the issues status. Depending on the nature and level of complexity certain issues will be subjected to Corrective or Preventive Actions following instructions provided by ADM033 and ADM035 (see references in this document). The issues summary report is saved as PDF, WORD, or Excel file. The application includes a help file to guide the user on its various features. An advanced filter allows records to be grouped and reported based on search criteria.

13 Page 13 of 16 Each tracked issue supports an unlimited number of logs showing their investigator, status, and date and can be previewed in summary or full detail.

14 Page 14 of 16 Each log includes investigator s detailed information describing the nature of issue and solutions used for closure. Links to various documentation and pictures in support to the current issue are made possible for easy tracking.

15 Page 15 of Master List This database section is maintained by Document Control and EMC lab personnel and includes all EMC related documentation available as soft copy or hard copy format. The list can be printed as PDF, WORD, or Excel file and included upon request in A2LA periodical reports as Form# Equipment manuals are controlled via LMS007 & (see references section).
