A global, non-profit organization committed to: promoting a base of common knowledge for the continuity management industry certifying qualified individuals in the discipline promoting the credibility and professionalism of certified individuals The industry s premier, multilingual, global, education and certification program administrator located on four of the five continents (no plans for Antarctica yet). More individuals choose to maintain their certification through us than any other organization in our industry (Over 8,000 active DRI professionals as of 2010) 3 Why Is Certification Important? Personal Satisfaction Be all you can be Be a Professional rather than someone who simply knows something about BC/DR Give back to the industry Employer Benefit confirms for the employer, the employee has a high level of knowledge of standard industry practices and processes Financial Gain certification is correlated with higher wages (ref. Certified Professionals Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) Certified Functional Continuity Professional (CFCP) Certified Business Continuity it Professional (CBCP) Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP) Certified Vendors Certified Business Continuity Vendor (CBCV) Certified Auditors Certified Business Continuity Auditor (CBCA) Certified Business Continuity Lead Auditor (CBCLA) All require minimum base-level knowledge measured by passing applicable Qualifying Exam. All but ABCP require different time and area of experience requirements verified by application process. 5 6

The application is graded ONLY on what is submitted Be sure to mark all boxes that apply Do Let your reference know this is coming. Ensure use of a reference that is available and knowledgeable of your experience. Ensure you know the reference correct address. Do review all of your information prior to hitting the submit button. 12

7 Pitfalls to Avoid Don t assume the application process is a rubber stamp once you have passed the qualifying exam. It is a written interview. Don t use the certification designation (e.g. ABCP, CBCV, CFCP, CBCP, MBCP, CBCA, or CBCLA) before you have completed the application process and have been officially approved for the certification. 13 Paths to Certification For all professional certifications use the online application through your MyDRI login Determine the type or level of certification you want to obtain (ABCP, CBCP, CBCA, CBCLA, etc.) Complete the online application through your MyDRI Respond to any additional requests for information Process time varies depending upon certification depending di upon: Reference availability Completeness of application 14

8 What do I do now? Prepare for the Qualifying Exam through education (i.e. courses) or self-study Take and pass the Qualifying Exam (and/or Audit, Masters Exam as appropriate) For all professional certifications use the online application through your MyDRI login Determine the type of certification you want to obtain Complete the online application by logging g into your MyDRI Respond to any additional requests for information 15 How Do I Maintain Certification? CFCP, CBCP, MBCP, CBCA, and CBCLA certifications require: Continuing Education Activities Points (CEAP) submitted over a two calendar year period (guidelines and points schedules are available at Annual certification maintenance fee Payment Submission of both Annual dues and CEAPs is handled through your MyDRI login You may print a card showing you are a member in good standing from your profile page once your application is successfully completed. ABCP, CBCV and Retired certifications require: Annual certification maintenance fee payment Zero CEAPs required 16
