The CENTEST BTS provides a full test suite for OC-3c and c services and constituent DS1 and DS3 services delivered via an optical carrier. 3 Activation, Assurance, The Service Optimization Strategy To deliver strong process automation solutions, TTC has adopted a framework that defines the interactions between TTC products in a service provider s environment, as well as the interaction between TTC products and third-party systems currently deployed in the network. In developing this framework, TTC referenced the business processes of service fulfillment and service assurance, as defined by the TeleManagement Forum s (TMF) Telecommunications Operations Model (TOM). TTC s complete solution, known as the Service Optimization Framework (SOF), enables automated flow-through service fulfillment and service assurance. The CENTEST BTS is an integral part of the SOF. Working in concert with NetAnalyst, TTC's Test Management Software, the CENTEST BTS allows the user to quickly and efficiently provision and troubleshoot SONET networks. 2 TTC s Service Optimization Framework a modular suite of systems and software products that enable you to remotely activate, assure, and test voice and data neworks.

A centralized testing staff, along with a complement of CENTEST units in remote offices, enables service providers to test the entire network without leaving the network operation center (NOC). 5 Product Description Chassis Together, the CENTEST BTS chassis and backplane provide the foundation for a highly flexible system. Allowing up to 13 separate remote test units in one chassis, the CENTEST BTS provides comprehensive OC-3,, and tributary testing from a single test access point. Port Optimization provides flexible configuration options, allowing many tests from any number of test access points. Optimize test access port utilization with multiple tests from a single access point Broadband Test Card The Broadband Test Card is a standalone card that supports a single DS1, DS3, OC-3c, or OC- 12c test. The card may be used alone in small applications requiring a single test, or as a separate card for c testing in large applications. Broadband Test Group The Broadband Test Group consists of three types of cards working together to provide up to 12 simultaneous tests from one test access point. Each card in the group will support a distinct test without affecting the other tests on any of other cards in the group. The Broadband Test Group may be as small as 2 cards supporting 2 tests, or as large as 12 cards supporting 12 tests. The Broadband Test Group provides port optimization capabilities, as well as an economical way to provide the testing required in today s optical networks. Dual E1 Card The CENTEST BTS supports the Dual E1 card for international gateway sites, offering full E1 and fractional E1 (FE1) test capabilities for non-intrusive monitoring and intrusive testing via a narrowband or wideband digital cross-connect system (DCS) or TTC s TA1000 test access switch. As circuits are provisioned through the narrowband or wideband DCS, the system verifies performance by testing from the DCS to the customer premise. This solution yields faster E1 and FE1 circuit turn-up and accelerated revenue flow for these services. 4

7 Optical Test Access for DS1 and DS3 Services Ensure DS1 and DS3 quality of service with DS1 and DS3 testing from an OC-3 or access point. Verify DS3 services to a customer s M13 multiplexer or network-demarcation equipment with a FEAC loop or DS3 BER test patterns. Non-intrusive monitoring provides access to the error-checking capabilities in the overhead of the C-bit frame. Non-intrusively monitor the C-bit framing overhead and FEAC codes to locate troubles before they become service affecting. Monitor D4 and ESF framing to ensure that DS1 services meet customer expectations. Quickly troubleshoot and isolate troubles with DS1 loopcodes and BERT patterns. The CENTEST BTS provides the loop codes and test patterns needed to find any DS1 network problem.
