Single Sign-On (SSO) A user s ability to log on (sign-on) to a network resource (such as a Microsoft Windows OS) and then access a privileged network resources and/or application (including the Site Management Portal UI) without providing user name and password credentials again. 24

Site A continuously connected network of devices configured as a system for building control and user access. Site Object A type of object in the navigation tree that represents the physical network of connected devices on the site. The device where the Site object resides is considered the Site Director. One important function of the Site object is to maintain time-of-day synchronization for a site. Site Director SMTP SNMP SNTP A uniform point of entry to the system, allowing you to view all network components including the information defined in the Site object. For each site, a single engine or Metasys server is designated as the Site Director. A network engine may be designated as the Site Director on small networks consisting of single or multiple network engines. On larger networks with single or multiple ADSs/ADXs, an ADS/ADX must be designated as Site Director. The Site Director supports functions such as user logon, user administration, time synchronization, and data-traffic management. The Site Director is the device that holds the Site object. Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. SMTP is a protocol for sending messages between servers. Simple Network Management Protocol. SNMP is the primary protocol governing Internet Protocol (IP) network management and the monitoring of IP network devices and their functions. Simple Network Time Protocol. SNTP is a simplified version of Network Time Protocol. These protocols allow computers to synchronize current time across a TCP/IP network. SNTP may be used to synchronize the Site Director time with a third-party SNTP time server either publicly (on the Internet) or privately (customer-owned on the LAN/WAN). Software Activation Manager Space A software application that is part of the Metasys software suite that you use to register licensed products. A physical location or area that is served by a piece of equipment. The Metasys UI product uses the term space. Space Dashboard A tabular representation that provides a cohesive summary of the selected space, including the equipment that serves the space and potential problem areas in the space. SQL Server A database application from Microsoft in use by several Metasys software products. 25

SSL certificate Secure Sockets Layer certificate. Used in computer networking, an SSL certificate provides a secure, encrypted communications between a website and an internet browser. Star topology A type of network topology in which all nodes are individually connected to a central point, like a hub or switch. Because each node is connected by individual cable segments, the benefit of a star network is if one cable fails, only one node is brought down. Symbols Pictorial elements on a graphic that represent building equipment, such as fans, coils, valves, and ductwork. 26

T Tailored summary TCP/IP A summary that allows you to view, command, and modify large quantities of similar data in a tabular format. Tailored Summaries are essentially summary views of Metasys system items where the rows and columns of the summary are tailored to contain information of interest. Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. A protocol for communication between computers, used as a standard for transmitting data over networks and as the basis for standard Internet protocols. Trend extension An option in the Site Management Portal UI that allows you to monitor and record the changes in the behavior of an individual attribute over time, thereby assisting you with diagnosing various system-wide behavioral characteristics. Trend log A graphical or tabular representation of one or more data points as they transition through time. Trend study An option in the Site Management Portal UI that allows you to obtain historical data from both the Metasys server and the network engine. A trend study captures data from a point or object during a specific period of time or interval. Before a point or object can be in a Trend Study, it must have a trend extension. Trend Viewer An option in the Site Management Portal UI that you use to display graphically how a monitored point or object changes over time. Three different views are available: Trend Viewer Chart View, Trend Viewer Table View, and Trend Viewer Definition View. 27

U UI User Interface. The UI is a means through which users interact with the Metasys system. Three UIs are available with the Metasys system: UL864 UL916 Site Management Portal UI: Traditional UI with complete administration and configurations capabilities; comes installed with any Metasys server (ADS, ADS-Lite, ADX, and ODS). Metasys UI: an HTML5-compliant web interface that provides device-agnostic access to Metasys from smartphones, tablets, and computers. The Metasys UI is an intuitive interface that provides a seamless user experience no matter what type of client device is used to access the system. The Metasys UI is installed with any Metasys server: ADS, ADX (unified and split), ADS-Lite, and ODS. Ready Access Portal UI: a legacy, task-based UI that supports a subset of the Site Management Portal UI capabilities and requires Ready Access Portal software. From Underwriters Laboratories, UL 864 is a worldwide standard for fire protection and smoke control that follows rules and regulations set by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). From Underwriters Laboratories, UL 916 is a worldwide standard for energy management equipment. Universal Principle Name (UPN) In the Active Directory service, the name of a system user in an address format. The user name is followed by sign, followed by the name of the Internet domain with which the user is associated. The Internet domain may be at the forest level of the Active Directory service tree (for example, username@jci.com) or at the domain level (for example, username@engineering.jci.com), or at another level defined by Active Directory service configuration. The UPN format is based on Internet Request For Comments (RFC) 822. Usage Analytics An optional web analytics service in the Metasys UI that tracks the use of the Metasys software either at the site level or the user level. Johnson Controls can improve the Metasys software by gaining insights into your use of our software. User Graphics Tool (UGT) Software for viewing, creating, and editing graphics to provide a visual representation of monitored systems. The UGT allows you to quickly check the status of system symbols and recognize unusual system conditions. The UGT is available with a network engine, ADS/ADX, and SCT. Graphics can be configured in the Site Management Portal UI and viewed in both the Site Management Portal UI and Ready Access Portal UI. 28

V Validated Device VAV Box An ADX or network engine that has MVE features enabled. System changes implemented by the user on validated devices must have an electronic signature with required annotations. Variable air volume box. A type of equipment that provides for heating, ventilating, or air conditioning in a commercial building. A typical VAV system consists of a VAV box, ductwork, and four air terminals. VAV systems vary the airflow at a constant temperature. Virtual server VLAN A server that shares hardware and software resources with other operating systems instead of a dedicated server on one piece of hardware. Virtual servers are popular because they provide the same functionality of a dedicated hardware server, but at the reduced cost of just the software. Virtual Local Area Network. A group of devices on one or more LANs that are configured to communicate as if they were attached to the same wire, when in fact they are located on a number of different LAN segments. Because VLANs are based on logical instead of physical connections, they are extremely flexible. VMD Generator Express (VGE Tool) The software tool that allows you to view, create, and modify the vendor model definition (VMD) files required by third-party integrations on the NIEx9. Both the TCP/IP and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) formats are supported. 29

W WAN Wide Area Network. A telecommunications network or computer network that uses devices such as routers, hubs, leased lines, standard telephone lines, satellite dishes, and radio waves to span a larger geographic area than can be covered by a LAN. Warning banner Widget A window that appears when operators log in to the Site Management Portal UI that contains a terms-of-use message authored by a government agency. Starting at Release 10.0, operators can choose a warning banner for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), or the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). A container that groups related information together in the Metasys UI. Widgets are organized and presented on the dashboards and can be maximized to see a larger view of the information. Examples include the Graphics Widget, Trend Widget, and Schedule Widget. Wireless Commissioning Converter Wizard Converter with Bluetooth wireless technology. The Wireless Commissioning Converter provides a temporary connection between a laptop running CCT software and the controller to perform commissioning, synchronizing, and balancing operations in field controllers. A series of step-by-step dialog windows that leads the user through the installation process or configuration process for devices, objects, and features. WNC1800 Gateway Wireless Network Coordinator Gateway. A component of a wireless field bus system that provides a wireless platform for all FECs and select TEC3000 Family controllers using BACnet protocol over the 2.4 GHz wireless ISM band. The WNC is as a wireless, portable web server that enables you to commission, configure, and access building control equipment over a WiFi network. 30

Z ZFR Checkout Tool A tool that you use to validate the wireless connectivity and health of wireless devices within any ZFR or ZFR Pro Wireless Field Bus System. The tool helps you ensure that a reliable wireless mesh network is in place. ZFR Pro Coordinator ZFR Pro A radio component of the ZFR wireless system that connects to a WNC1800 Gateway to provide a wireless interface between Wireless Enabled Field Controllers (WEFCs) and a supervisory controller. WEFCs can be Metasys field controllers equipped with ZFR Pro Routers, or wireless TEC3000s. Each wireless mesh network requires one ZFR Pro Coordinator and one WNC1800 Gateway, which initiates the formation of the network. A system that provides a wireless platform for all Metasys Field Equipment Controller (FEC) and select TEC3000 Family controllers using BACnet protocol over the 2.4 GHz wireless ISM band. Components of the ZFR Pro system create a wireless mesh network that allows for data exchange between gateways, coordinators, sensors, and field controllers. 31
