3 The Security Center s Key Components The key elements that power the Security Center platform are Omnicast IP video, Synergis IP access control, and AutoVu IP LPR systems: Omnicast, the IP video surveillance system of the Security Center, provides seamless management of digital video. Omnicast allows for multiple vendors of IP video units (cameras, encoders, DVR) to be used within the same installation, providing the maximum flexibility when selecting the appropriate hardware for each application. Synergis, the IP access control system of the Security Center, is designed to offer endto-end IP connectivity, from access control reader to client workstation. Synergis seamlessly integrates a variety of access control capabilities including, but not limited to, badge design, visitor management, elevator control, zone monitoring and more. AutoVu is the IP license plate recognition (LPR) system of the Security Center that accurately reads license plates from virtually any part of the world in both fixed and mobile installations. In addition to being seamless unified with Omnicast and Synergis, AutoVu can be installed as a standalone LPR system for fixed and mobile applications. The Security Center s Key Components The Security Center s flexible architecture supports a wide array of configuration options ranging from standalone and multi-system applications. As such, it can be installed as a standalone access control, or video, or LPR system, or any combination of systems. That being said, the true power of the Security Center comes to life in a unified access control, LPR, and video application. Benefits such as improved operator efficiency and productivity naturally result from the Security Center s ability to consolidate system configuration, live or historical event and video monitoring, reporting, and alarm management for all systems. genetec.com Security Center 5.1 Product Description 5

4 Security Center User Applications The Security Center supports two powerful user applications. The Config Tool is used for configuration management of the Omnicast video surveillance, Synergis access control and AutoVu LPR systems. The Security Desk, on the other hand, is used for live monitoring and reporting for all of Genetec s security and safety applications. Each user application consolidates activities for several systems, thereby reducing the count of client applications an operator or administrator will have to master. 4.1 The Security Desk The Security Desk is the unified security interface for the Security Center platform that was developed using the latest in user interface (UI) design technology. Quite simply, it represents the most cutting edge user interface in the security industry today. Through innovative concepts such as a dynamically adaptive interface, various widgets, and a task-oriented approach to operations, the Security Desk empowers operators through its simplicity. Operators can now make decisions based on time critical and consolidated access control and video information, resulting in increased productivity and a higher level of efficiency. Similarly, LPR users can view license plate reads and hits augmented with pictures and video data. Access control, LPR, and video activities which are unified under the Security Desk include live monitoring of events, live video, video playback and instant replay, report generation, LPR route playback, alarm management, and visitor management. A direct benefit of this unification is that operators are no longer required to use separate user interfaces for access, LPR, and video; they have been seamlessly unified within the Security Desk. The Security Desk also merges the Omnicast 4 Live Viewer and Archive Player functionalities into a single client application; these include running archive/motion/bookmark reports, video playback, synchronizing playback on multiple cameras, adding bookmarks, video alarms, video event viewing, executing video actions and macros, and much more. Additionally, consolidated reporting of both fixed and mobile LPR applications is now possible through this powerful unified client. The Security Desk unified interface genetec.com Security Center 5.1 Product Description 6

The basic operating principle behind the Security Desk is to simplify the operator s job. To achieve this, the Security Desk brings a variety of cutting edge concepts. They are the following: Tasks A task is a new security interface concept whose main goal is to simplify the user interface by grouping related functionality from different systems such as video and access in the same window. Examples of tasks include live monitoring, alarm management, individual reports, and more. Through privileges, operators are only given access to tasks they require for their daily activities while tasks outside their scope of work are hidden, further simplifying the interface. By having access to and learning only the features needed to accomplish a given task, the number of concepts a casual user needs to learn are reduced, leading to a perception of simplicity. The Genetec Taskbar Users can quickly access all of the Security Center functionality and tasks through the Genetec taskbar. The Genetec start menu groups similar functionality for easy access by operators. Intuitive by nature, the taskbar allows operators to navigate through a high-end and feature rich interface with ease. Dashboard Widgets Widgets are mini-applications or mini-groupings in the Security Desk dashboard that let you perform common tasks and provide you with fast access to information and actions. With a single click on an entity (e.g. door or camera) the specific widgets associated to each entity appear and disappear dynamically and bring you a world of information such as door status, door unlock actions, camera stream information, camera PTZ controls, and more. Dynamically Adaptive UI Dynamically adapting the UI for the operator activities at a specific time de-clutters the UI and makes it more intuitive. Given that the interface is adapted to the tasks that are pertinent to an operator at a particular moment in time, users quickly become familiar with the system s functionalities through self-learning, thus allowing for increased autonomy and confidence within security team. Consistent Workflows A workflow can be seen as a sequence of operations an operator or administrator must execute to complete an activity. The flow relates to a clearly defined timeline or sequence for executing the activity. The Security Desk and ultimately the Security Center is characterized by consistent workflows for all Security Center systems, such as Omnicast, AutoVu, and Synergis. Generating or printing a report, setting up or acknowledging an alarm, or creating an incident report will follow the same process (workflow) whether the operator is working with video, or access, or both. 9 5 Omnicast IP Video Surveillance Omnicast, the IP video surveillance system of the Security Center, provides seamless management of digital video. Its unique design enables the management of cameras, monitors, recorders and peripherals through any existing IP network. In contrast to a DVR or matrix system, the Omnicast system is massively distributed over the network ensuring layout flexibility and high fault tolerance. Manipulating video in digital formats offers tremendous flexibility in all aspects of video management, including but not limited to, available video quality, multi-streaming, and archive management. Its unique design offers you the freedom to design a system that truly matches your security needs. Omnicast supports a very wide range of IP units and CCTV equipment. Thanks to the Security Center s flexible architecture, the list of Omnicast-supported hardware vendors and models is always increasing. Some of the standard and/or optional features available with Omnicast include: Hardware Independence. A very wide range of IP units (IP cameras and encoders) and CCTV equipment (analog PTZ cameras, CCTV keyboards and joysticks) is supported. More than just supporting a great diversity of equipment, Omnicast allows for multiple vendors and CODEC (coder/decoder) to be used within the same installation, providing the maximum flexibility when selecting the appropriate hardware for each application. Video Quality. Omnicast offers real time video up to 60 frames per second (fps) per camera, regardless the number of cameras managed by the system. The frame per second is a per camera setting and can be configured from 1 fps to 60 fps. Omnicast uses the standardized CIF (Common Intermediate Format) video formats, from QCIF to 4CIF, for viewing live and stored video from video encoders. Omnicast also supports non-cif resolutions used by progressive and high-definition and megapixel IP cameras. Video Compression. Omnicast supports H.264, MPEG-4, MJPEG, Wavelet and JPEG2000 video encoders and IP cameras. Multiple Streaming. Multiple video streams from a single video encoder or IP camera are natively supported. This allows the user to configure different video settings for different video usage, such as live viewing, remote live viewing (with restricted bandwidth), recording, or other specific usage. This capability provides maximum flexibility to storage and bandwidth optimization without the need to compromise either one. Automatic Stream Selection. Displaying many high resolution video streams requires a lot of CPU. In order to increase the number of live video streams shown simultaneously in the Security Desk, we need to optimize the use of CPU. To this end, the Security Desk can be configured to decide on its own which video stream to display based on the size of the viewing tile. The Security Desk will use a higher resolution stream only if it would make a visual difference to the user. When Automatic Stream Selection mode is selected in the Security Desk, the higher resolution stream will always be used when a tile is maximized or when the digital zoom is in use. Multicasting. Omnicast has the option to use multicast transmission protocol for superior bandwidth management. This technology allows a video feed to be viewed by multiple users at multiple locations simultaneously, using the bandwidth of each network segment only once. In the following example, two client applications are viewing Camera 1. Using Multicast, the video feed (the red line) is transmitted only once on each shared network segment. Users wanting to view cameras don t connect to the video source (IP encoder or IP camera), they connect to the network (a multicast group) and gain instantaneous access to all cameras for which they have proper privileges. Innovative Solutions

Example of multicasting with Omnicast Bandwidth Control. Omnicast offers the option to limit the total amount of bandwidth that each video encoder or IP camera transmits, thus allowing network administrators to limit the maximum amount of bandwidth allocated to the security system. Video Caching. Video caching helps reduce the bandwidth required when playing back recorded video. All the cameras being viewed are saved (cached) locally on the workstation. When a user requests for instant replay or do playback in a loop, the video is retrieved from the local cache instead of being streamed from the Archiver so the network is not impacted at all. In addition to bandwidth saving, video is also accessed faster. This is especially true if the operator is connected over a high latency network. Video Down-Sampling. Another benefit of digital video is down-sampling. This functionality is especially useful when using video units that do not support multiple streaming. For example, users can set live video streams at 30 fps and reduce the frame rate to 5 fps for recording. This feature can reduce storage requirements dramatically without sacrificing live video stream quality. Redundant Archiving. Redundant archiving is the exact replication of the video archives created by the primary Archivers in the system. All recorded video, audio and associated data (events and bookmarks) are replicated in separate disks and databases up to any number of copies, on a camera by camera basis. Auxiliary Archiving. Users can setup Auxiliary Archivers to create extra copies of video archives on selected cameras. Unlike the redundant archives, the auxiliary archives can be setup with a different recording schedule and with a different video quality and image size than the ones used for primary and redundant archives. This option adds flexibility to archive availability as it can be deployed in a remote location for off-site protection. Edge Recording. Some video encoders have the capability of recording video locally. Omnicast supports retrieval of recorded video on such edge devices. This can be useful for many different applications. For example, it can be used to secure a copy of the recorded video for redundancy or in case of a network failure. Also, edge recording can be used to avoid streaming video all across the network to save on bandwidth. Video Trickling. Video trickling leverages the recording capabilities of the edge devices (IP cameras and encoders) by providing the ability to transfer, on demand, the video from the edge and store it in Omnicast for genetec.com Security Center 5.1 Product Description 10

long-term archiving. The video transfer is based on specific rules created by the administrator who also has full control over when and which video is being transferred. The edge recording can be transferred to Omnicast based on three different modes: on schedule, on event or manually. In addition to the transfer mode, the administrator can filter the amount of video to be transferred. The administrator has the choice over many filters such as: time range, playback requests, events (motion, analytics, dry contact), alarms, bookmarked video and interval when a unit is offline. Edge-based Video Analytics. Omnicast provides the ability to leverage video analytic capabilities offered by some IP video edge devices, by managing the events and alerts detected. Using the event-to-action mechanism, the operator can create sophisticated rules to manage incidents received in Omnicast, such as generating alarms and sending notifications. All events and alerts are also stored in the Omnicast system to facilitate video archive searches. Camera Sequences. Camera sequences are controlled and executed within the Security Desk. Users can create sequences with an unlimited number of cameras and display them on their workstation monitors. Once configured, the same camera sequence can be viewed by any number of people at any number of locations. CCTV Keyboards. CCTV keyboards or joysticks can be used to control the video content of the Security Desk. Switching cameras and controlling PTZ can therefore be done using these controllers instead of the PC keyboard and mouse. Command Encryption. To counter the threat of video being intercepted, Omnicast encrypts all communications between video encoders (when encryption is supported by the encoder) and Omnicast servers. Omnicast supports 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption technology and HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) to secure communication with edge devices. By encrypting commands, an attacker that gains access to the network and intercepts data will be unable to recognize the commands. Digital Signature. Another critical concern shared by security managers is the admissibility of video in court. To counter this problem, Genetec has implemented the latest digital signature technologies to protect the integrity of stored video and audio. Once video is stored on a server into video files, a digital signature is applied. In essence, this technology analyzes and uniquely identifies each video frame while also linking each frame to the previous one through a complex algorithm. This prevents attackers from deleting, modifying or adding a video frame to archived video. For instance, if a single pixel is changed, the digital signature will no longer match which allows an operator to detect that there may have been tampering. Password Protected Video Export. Omnicast provides the ability to secure exported video files by encrypting them with a password, protecting its content and making it inaccessible in case it falls in the wrong hands. The user can add a 128-bit password encryption to the exported video files so only the recipient of the exported video can decrypt and freely access the video files. Camera Blocking. To prevent the viewing of unsuitable or sensitive video content, camera blocking can be used to block access to live or recorded video for specific timeframes or indefinitely. Blocking is based on user security levels; users with lower access rights will not be allowed to view live, recorded, and exported video. Password Protected Video Export. Omnicast provides the ability to secure exported video files by encrypting them with a password, protecting its content and making it inaccessible in case it falls in the wrong hands. The user can add a 128-bit password encryption to the exported video files so only the recipient of the exported video can decrypt and freely access the video files. genetec.com Security Center 5.1 Product Description 11

6 Synergis IP Access Control Synergis is the access control system is embedded within Genetec s unified security platform, the Security Center. Designed with end-to-end IP connectivity from access control reader to client workstation, Synergis seamlessly integrates a variety of standard and high end access functionalities such as cardholder management, badge design and printing, zone monitoring, people counting (mustering), and visitor management. Synergis supports the configuration and management of access control interface modules, system controllers, and other peripherals through any existing IP network. Designed as a true IP solution, Synergis is optimized for a networking environment and does not rely on network adapters and software patches to communicate over IP. Additionally, Synergis can be used to either replace or upgrade from an existing access control system. Simply replace the existing door controllers with compatible IP-enabled controllers, all the while leveraging your existing access readers and wiring. Since Synergis is IP ready, you can leverage the existing corporate network when designing your access control network, thus reducing expenditures. Security Center components can be distributed over multiple networked machines allowing Synergis to manage systems of any size, from a single door installation to larger ones that span multiple geographic locations and consist of multiple clients and servers. Moreover, Synergis is designed to handle tens of thousands of access events per second, from all over an IP network. This drastically outpaces traditional access control solutions designed for serial communications that can only handle a few dozen events per minute. Upgrading a traditional system to IP by using network adapters does not improve their scalability. All controllers supported by Synergis are IP edge devices whose network settings can be configured and managed by IT departments. Systems can grow one door or cardholder at a time, thus incorporating the flexibility needed for a growing organization. Some of the standard and/or optional features available with Synergis include: True IP solution. As a truly IP solution, the Security Center architecture enables Synergis to monitor and log hundreds of events per second. Additionally, the system can naturally scale over an IP network to thousands of doors. Native IP Device Support. Synergis supports a variety of native IP intelligent doors controllers and input/output (IO) modules. In additional to one-reader and two-reader IP device support, traditional RS485- based controllers are also supported ensuring that users upgrading their system can reuse existing wiring and thereby reducing installation costs further. Synergis Master Controller. The Synergis Master Controller is an intelligent controller designed to meet all of your IP access control needs. Equipped with native IP capabilities and adapted for highly-secured communications over your network, the Synergis Master Controller is the foundation for your access control infrastructure, whether it is for a single door or for thousands of doors. Through the Synergis Master Controller, Synergis allows you to connect to industry-standard modules from Mercury and HID, be it within an existing installation or a new one. By avoiding proprietary solutions, you can invest today knowing your access control investment will be protected for years to come. Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Device Support. Support for multiple IP edge devices with PoE capabilities is available. Installation is greatly facilitated as organizations now have the option to install an IP edge device at the door, wire everything locally, and have the controller powered by a PoE-enabled network switch. Integrated Badge Designer. The integrated badge designer module allows administrators to create multiple badge templates for cardholders. Badge templates can then be used to print either single-sided or dual-sided badges. Batch printing, custom card sizes, as well as the import and export of badge templates are fully supported. genetec.com Security Center 5.1 Product Description 12

Built-In Visitor Management. The Visitor Management feature enables security operators to enroll and manage visitors with maximum efficiency. Visitor check-in and check-out is accomplished through a dedicated task in Security Desk. Synergis also provides comprehensive visitor tracking and visitor reporting. People Counting and Area Presence Tracking. People Counting is a tracking feature which dynamically reports the number of people in an area, similar to mustering. Within the Security Desk, the security operator can select one or more areas to track. Security Desk will then report the people count in real-time and can also generate a separate area presence report. Custom Card Formats. Synergis is able to read and enroll virtually any unknown card format as it is able to record card numbers in raw format. Through the use of custom card formats, unknown formats can also be added to Synergis so that information embedded in the card can be parsed and made available to operators for viewing. Readerless Doors. In situations where you simply want to control a door without a reader - e.g. door lock, REX, and door contact - Synergis allows you to use standard access control IO hardware to control such doors. With readerless doors, equipment costs are reduced by avoiding the unnecessary use of costlier reader interface modules or programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Custom Fields. Custom Fields allow administrators to create hundreds of user-defined fields for cardholders, cardholder groups, credentials, and visitors. Standard custom field types include text, integers, decimal numbers, dates, graphics or pictures, and more. The definition of new custom field types with a predetermined list of values is also supported. The end-user is thus able to customize his access control database with company-specific information. Furthermore, custom fields are available in generated reports and badge templates. Import Tool. An integrated Import Tool efficiently imports existing cardholder and credential information into Synergis, reducing the configuration time required during the retrofit of existing access control installations. The Import Tool can also be used to quickly bring data into a new access control database. With this simple and easy-to-use tool, an administrator can populate the access control database with cardholder, cardholder group, card format and number, and other data. Elevator Control and Floor tracking. With Elevator Control, users can explicitly control access to specific floors in a building. This allows security personnel to increase the level of security for specific floors. You also have the flexibility to indicate the time periods during which the floors of a building are freely accessible and time periods when access is restricted. Floor tracking, the ability to determine which floor was selected, is also supported with elevator control. Area Interlock, Lockdown, and Override. In facilities or areas requiring heightened security, Synergis supports the Area Interlock feature. This feature allows the user to intuitively configure two or more doors within an area as an interlock, whereby only a single door can remain open at any point in time; once a door is open, all other doors that are part of the interlock are prevented from opening. Examples of uses include mantraps, controlled labs, and white rooms. The interlock feature can be enabled for doors with or without readers and includes other functions such as lockdown and override. A benefit of Synergis area interlock include the reduction in installation costs as standard access control IO modules are used to implement the feature, as opposed to programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Another benefit is that Synergis can track and report on door activity within the interlock just like a standard door. This is in contrast to traditional applications which use PLCs to implement the interlocks in a standalone setup which was not integrated with the access control system. genetec.com Security Center 5.1 Product Description 13

7 AutoVu License Plate Recognition AutoVu is the IP license plate recognition (LPR) system of the Security Center that accurately reads license plates from virtually any part of the world in both fixed and mobile installations. In addition to being seamlessly unified with Omnicast and Synergis inside the Security Center, AutoVu can be installed as a standalone LPR system for fixed and/or mobile applications. The system can be used for Law Enforcement, Parking enforcement, or Vehicle Inventory Management. The user-friendly in-vehicle software, AutoVu Patroller, displays license plate (LP) reads and alerts users of matches to the various loaded hotlists and infringements of parking restrictions. The Security Desk is used to retrieve hit data, create reports and receive real-time notification of hits. Some of the standard and/or optional features available with AutoVu include: AutoVu Sharp. This is an IP-based LPR device which delivers advanced digital video processing, superior plate reading performance, and industrial grade durability. This can be used in two different modes of operation, mobile and fixed. Fixed LPR. Fixed LPR systems have Sharp cameras connected via a network to the Security Center for configuration, monitoring, and reporting activities. For operators, unification means a single user interface to view both license plate reads from Sharp cameras and any associated video from various CCTV cameras. Fixed AutoVu Sharp cameras send each read to the Security Center in real-time, while still being able to buffer reads if the network is temporarily unavailable. Upon reception of the reads, the Security Center compares them to the applicable hotlists and triggers an alarm if a hit is detected, providing similar capabilities as the mobile environment. Mobile LPR. AutoVu Patroller units in the field can offload a vehicle inventory or LP reads and hits to the Security Center. The Security Desk can then display these LP reads and hits from patrolling units. Officers can choose to simultaneously monitor fixed Sharp cameras or Patroller units through a wireless connection for vehicles of interest such as wanted felons. AutoVu Patroller. This application serves as the in-vehicle control and monitoring user interface. Both intuitive and powerful, the AutoVu Patroller s touch-screen enabled interface is optimized to simplify the user s tasks. All reads and hits are stored for a configurable amount of time or until offloaded to the Security Center application for further analysis. Patroller feature highlights include: live monitoring, hotlist matching, in-vehicle data mining, in-vehicle mapping, silent operation, vehicle inventory collection and offloading. Consolidated Fixed and Mobile LPR Monitoring. The Security Center provides a single unified solution for monitoring both fixed and mobile LPR applications. Advanced Data Mining and Reporting. Through the Security Desk interface, users can generate a myriad of LPR-related reports that are easy to use and understand. Reports are powerful and provide users with a great deal of flexibility. For example, users can filter results based on date, time, patrolling unit, hotlist, type of hit or area, and much more. The reports that are available are as follows: hit and read reports, route playback reports, license plate read/hits per day reports, daily usage statistics and logons per day reports. GPS Correlation. For Patroller units in the field, a GPS location is marked for each LP read. Therefore, Security Desk users monitoring live incoming reads and hits have precise information on the location where the read or hit took place. Mapping Display. The Security Desk supports a map display within which symbols are used to show each read, hit and vehicle position. genetec.com Security Center 5.1 Product Description 14

8 Additional Features Overview 8.1 Distributed Client/Server Architecture The Security Center is based on a client/server architecture with a high level of configuration flexibility. You have the option of distributing services and client applications across several off-the-shelf servers or workstations, or running all of them on a single machine. Furthermore, the Security Center has been designed from inception with external system integration in mind. To meet this common market demand, the architecture supports the integration of external third party systems such as Microsoft s Active Directory, intrusion panels, asset management systems, and much more. 8.2 High System Availability The Security Center s distributed architecture in combination with supported high-availability solutions provides unparalleled reliability. When critical systems require high availability, you have the option among several off-theshelf industry standards supported by the Security Center. Native failover (hot and cold standby) capabilities for various components ensure your system is up and running. In addition to supporting off the shelf failover options, the Security Center supports a Failover Directory option to ensure the heart. Failover Archiver feature is also supported within Omnicast. This ensures your video system is protected should your primary Archiver lose connectivity or is powered down for maintenance purposes. 8.3 Federation The ability to supervise and monitor large enterprise systems spanning multiple sites from a single location is often paramount. Genetec provides security and IT departments with the Security Center Federation feature to achieve this goal. With Federation, multiple independent Security Center systems (Synergis and Omnicast) can be unified under a single virtual system. With its ability to scale over IP and federate hundreds or thousands of remote systems, the Security Center is an ideal fit for city-wide surveillance and managed central monitoring services where multiple independent customers can be monitored centrally, while supporting the independence of local security operations. 8.4 Global Cardholder Management Global Cardholder Management is an enterprise class feature that enables organizations to centrally manage and configure cardholders, cardholder groups, credentials, badge templates, and more. New cardholders and credentials will be synchronized to all participating sites, no matter their location. Moreover, new or existing cardholders and credentials can be added or modified remotely, which will then be synchronized to the central site and all other participating sites. Changes in one geographic location can therefore be propagated to all other locations. The end result is a truly global system where you only need to enter cardholders and their information once in the system. Once synchronized to other remote systems, cardholders will automatically inherit access to these other locations. genetec.com Security Center 5.1 Product Description 15

Global Cardholder Management also allows you to work with a single credential or card that can be used anywhere in the world. 8.5 Microsoft Active Directory Active Directory user accounts can be automatically linked to Security Center user and cardholder accounts, allowing for automated synchronization and real-time updates of account information. Adding or disabling a Windows user account automatically does the same in the Security Center. The benefits of Active Directory integration include improved efficiency through centralized management of Security Center users and cardholders, reduced deployment and maintenance costs by facilitating the addition of new security users and cardholders through automated processes, and a higher level of logical and physical security through automatic deactivation of Security Center user and cardholder accounts. Integration of multiple Active Directory servers and Active Directory attributes mapped to Security Center custom fields are other supported functionalities. Users can also synchronize credentials and cardholder pictures. Security Center also supports a secured connection with the Active Directory server (eg. LDAP over SSL or LDAPS). 8.6 Centralized Alarm Management Alarm management for video, LPR, and access control systems can now be unified under a single platform, the Security Center. Whether monitoring Synergis access control, AutoVu LPR, or Omnicast video surveillance systems, the same workflows for configuring, monitoring, and handling alarms are consistent throughout. Moreover, alarms now apply to the entire security platform, rather than the traditional approach of separate alarm monitoring for video surveillance and access control, thereby allowing operators to make better decisions in critical or emergency situations. 8.7 Plan Manager Plan Manager is an advanced map interface that allows you to create a graphical environment from which to monitor and control your security platform. Various sources can be used to create your dynamic maps, among them standard image files, CAD floor plan and geographic information systems (GIS). Each surveillance entity (eg. cameras or doors) is represented on the map by a dynamic icon with status information, through which operators can trigger specific actions, eg. lock a door, acknowledge an alarm, or triggering an output. genetec.com Security Center 5.1 Product Description 16

8.8 Threat Level Management With Security Center s Threat Level Management, users can quickly alter the behavior of their security system in response to changing security conditions and potential threats, with the ultimate goal of protecting staff and business assets. Whether users are changing behavior across the entire organization or for a specific area or building, they have the option to restrict entry through Synergis access-controlled doors or trigger a full lockdown, change Omnicast video camera operation including recording quality and frame rates, and limit which operators have access to your security software, and much more. This level of control offers users an additional tool to quickly respond to a variety of scenarios. 8.9 Remote Security Desk With Remote Security Desk, you can remotely control and monitor Security Desk clients that are part of your Security Center system. In addition to controlling a single remote workstation at a time, this functionality allows security departments or operations centers to set up a video wall consisting of multiple workstations running the Security Desk interface. Through a dedicated Remote Security Desk task, you can control remote monitoring and alarm monitoring tasks. You can view and control doors, cameras, and zones. Additional security settings define which users can remote control remote workstations, supervisor logons, and more Security Desk Digital Video Recorder (DVR) Plugin The Security Desk DVR Plugin extends your platform s unification capabilities, giving users the ability to connect to their existing DVRs that are compatible with Security Center. This allows users to view both live and archived video from third party DVRs. Through a direct connection between the Security Desk and the DVR, you can also control PTZ cameras connected to the DVR, as well as monitoring health events. One essential benefit of this functionality is that you can now migrate to a single interface, the Security Desk, to monitor you IP cameras as well as your existing DVRs Intrusion Panel Integration The Security Center supports native intrusion integration capabilities. When integrated, intrusion panel events and arming status are displayed in real-time within the Security Desk. Operators have the ability to arm and disarm an intrusion panel or specific partitions, while operators can schedule the arming of intrusion units or automatically disarm them following a Security Center event (e.g. following a motion detected or a cardholder access granted event). Video can be tagged to intrusion events and becomes available either during live monitoring or when running reports after the fact. The clear benefit here is that any intrusion event will be automatically correlated with video, allowing operators and security departments to visually confirm whether an intrusion event arose because of a security concern as opposed to an unintentional error. As a result, security departments can prevent the unwanted dispatch of authorities and help reduce any consequent penalties typically associated with false alarms Asset Management Integration The Security Center is able to connect to an asset management and tracking and synchronize assets, alerts, and other data over any IP network. Operators can not only generate reports related to asset location and movements within Genetec s unified security platform, but they can also view video attached to asset-related activity when undertaking their live monitoring and reporting responsibilities. genetec.com Security Center 5.1 Product Description 17

8.13 Integration and Development Toolkits As corporations demand that business, security, and IT processes become increasingly integrated and that information be shared among a variety of systems and applications, new tools are required to facilitate the sharing of data. Towards this end, Genetec offers its Software Development Kits (SDK) as the tools of choice for integrating corporate business systems with the Security Center, allowing companies to improve efficiency by consolidated information from various systems within the Security Center. genetec.com Security Center 5.1 Product Description 18
