You can remotely monitor and control other Security Desks that are part of your system, by settings up a virtual video wall, using the Remote task. For example, you can add Security Desks from multiple sites onto your virtual video wall, and control them using the Monitoring and Alarm monitoring tasks. If you have physical video wall set up on your site, you can control all the monitors on that wall from your local Security Desk. For more information, see Monitoring remote Security Desks in the Security Desk User Guide. Threat levels. If a critical event happens while you are monitoring your system (for example, a fire or shooting), you can change the state of the entire Security Center system, or specific areas, using threat levels. The effects of activating a threat level are configured in Config Tool. For more information see, Managing threat levels in the Security Center Administrator Guide, and Set threat levels in the Security Desk User Guide. Alarm monitoring enhancements. You can now configure alarms to trigger from a source condition (for example, door held open too long). When an alarm is triggered that has a source condition, you can investigate the alarm while source condition has not been cleared (door is still open). This lets other users on the system know that someone has seen the alarm, even though the source condition is still active. If you are an administrator, you can also force all active alarms to be acknowledged. For more information, see Managing alarms in the Security Center Administrator Guide, and Responding to alarms in the Security Desk User Guide. Home page enhancements. You can display cameras locally, or on a remote Security Desk workstation, using keyboard shortcuts. Using your keyboard, you select which monitor and canvas tile you want to display the camera in, and then select the camera. This is helpful for controlling monitors on a video wall, when there is no mouse available. This feature is similar to using a CCTV keyboard. For more information, see Displaying cameras using your keyboard in the Security Desk User Guide. Video trickling enhancements. If you have a larger system, you can now organize the cameras that are set to use trickling into groups. The camera groups are helpful to logically group your cameras. You can also specify how many cameras can trickle at the same time per camera group, which is helpful for systems that have a limited network. For more information about trickling, see Trickling in the Security Center Administrator Guide. PTZ enhancements. When a PTZ motor becomes idle, you can now configure the PTZ to move to a preset position, start a PTZ pattern, or remain idle until a user starts controlling it again. For more information about the Idle command option, see Idle command in the Security Center Administrator Guide. Synchronizing video. There is an advanced video synchronization option now available in Security Desk. When this option is enabled and you synchronize the video in the canvas, the date and time of the video streams are synchronized. However, if one of the video streams starts buffering, there will be a slight drift in the synchronization. When this option is disabled, if one of the video streams starts to buffer, all the streams pause until the other stream is ready. For more information, see Configuring advanced video settings in the Security Desk User Guide. Camera sequence synchronization. If you add additional camera sequences to the canvas, the camera rotation is synchronized. The sequences switch to the next camera, based on the dwell time of the first camera sequence that was displayed in the canvas. For more information about viewing camera sequences in Security Desk, see Viewing a camera sequence in the Security Desk User Guide. Joystick dead zone. You can now set a dead zone value for joysticks from the Options dialog box. The Joystick dead zone slider sets the threshold for registered movement in relation to the home position, or idle zone. 14 What s new in Security Center 5.2 GA Auto Tracking. Security Center now supports Panasonic Auto Tracking for PTZ units that support it. For more information about Auto Tracking, see your Panasonic documentation. For information on how to configure this option for use with Security Center, see the Security Center Video Unit Configuration Guide. Unit motion detection. Security Center now supports unit motion detection in H.264, MPEG-4, and MJPEG for Panasonic units. The following features are supported: Motion on and Motion off events Full screen motion zones Up to four rectangular motion zones (for fixed cameras only) Sensitivity Motion on threshold Edge recording and trickling. Security Center now supports edge recording and trickling for WV-SW155 cameras that have the latest firmware installed. AutoVu LPR enhancements Sharp Plate Reader Server decoupled. For ease of deployment, the Sharp Plate Reader Server has been decoupled from Security Center, and is renamed to Plate Reader. Plate Reader is now at versions 9.0 and 10.0, and can connect to Security Center and Patroller versions 4.0, 5.0, 5.1, and 5.2. Plate Reader 9.0. Use for Sharp units with 512 MB or RAM (Sharp 1.5 models and some Sharp 2.0 models). Plate Reader Use for all other Sharp models. You can use newer Sharp units with any previous version of Security Center or Patroller by simply selecting the Security Center version in the Sharp Portal. For more information, see the AutoVu Handbook. Improved LPR-based access control. The following new features improve AutoVu as an access control solution, where Sharps are installed at site entry points to grant or deny access: Assign hotlists to specific Sharps. Hotlists are no longer tied to their parent LPR Managers. You can now associate hotlists to specific Sharp units. This allows you to configure an access control scenario using multiple Sharps, each being responsible for different entry points. Hotlist No match events. You can now use hotlists as whitelists to store users that should be granted certain privileges. If a user is not on the list, and you want Security Center to trigger an action, you can use the no match event. This allows the hotlist to behave like a permit list in parking enforcement. By assigning hotlists to specific Sharps, and then configuring event-to-actions based on both match and no match events, you can deploy access control solutions that fit almost any real-world scenario. For more information, contact your Genetec representative. gtap.genetec.com Security Center Release Notes 5.2 GA 9

What s new in Security Center 5.2 GA View which Sharp unit generated a hit. You can view hotlist hits ( License plate matched event) by monitoring the Sharp unit rather than the hotlist. If you have more than one fixed Sharp unit on your system, you can now see which one generated a hit. This makes it easier to configure event-to-actions that trigger when a specific Sharp unit generates a hit. For more information, see the AutoVu Handbook. Assign hotlists and permit lists to specific Patroller entities. You can now assign a hotlist or permit list to individual Patrollers on your system. Previously, hotlists and permit lists were tied to their parent LPR Manager roles. For example, you have a Security Center system with multiple LPR Manager roles, and you have one particular Patroller vehicle responsible for a specific hotlist. By assigning the hotlist to the Patroller entity rather than to one of the LPR Managers, you can later easily move the Patroller entity to any LPR Manager on your system and the hotlist will follow. You won't need to re-create the same hotlist on the new LPR Manager. For more information, see the AutoVu Handbook. Patroller MLPI: Hotlist support. Patroller MLPI now supports using hotlists to raise hits when reading license plates that are on lists of wanted vehicles. All standard hotlist features are supported, such as periodic transfer, covert and wildcard hotlists, New wanted management, SimpleMatcher, and so on. For more information, see the AutoVu Handbook. Patroller alerts you if MLPI row capacity is exceeded. You can now specify a Space count value to indicate how many spaces are available in a row. This value is set in the Parking facility rule, and Patroller will trigger an alarm (sound or warning message) if the reads collected during your sweep of a row exceed the number of spaces specified in the Space count for that row. This reminds the Patroller operator to select a new row before continuing. For more information, see the AutoVu Handbook. Delete, or edit MLPI plate reads in Patroller. In Patroller, you can now delete or edit reads that have been collected during your sweep, allowing you to filter out misreads before creating your inventory. In order to do this, the Enable read deletion and Enable read modification options must be enabled in Patroller Config Tool. For more information, see the Patroller MLPI User Guide. Create a partial MLPI inventory in Security Desk. You can now choose to create a partial inventory of a parking facility in Security Desk. A partial inventory is used to do a spot check of the inventory at a specific time, and is not reconciled with the previous inventory. This feature is useful when the Patroller is unable to perform a complete sweep of a parking facility. For example, if there is a heavy snowfall and the operator can only sweep half the parking lot because the other half has not been plowed, the operator can create a partial inventory, skip reconciliation, and still record the reads. Previously, the reads would be reconciled, and cars parked in the skipped section of the lot were considered as having left. For more information, see Inventory management in the Security Desk User Guide. Matched plate display. The Hotlist Hits panel in Patroller now displays whether the captured plate is an exact or approximate match to the plate on the hotlist that generated the hit. This allows you to verify exact matching against the hotlist. For example, the matched plate may contain OCR equivalent characters, or a different number of characters than the actual LPR image. For more information, see the Patroller User Guides. gtap.genetec.com Security Center Release Notes 5.2 GA 10

What s new in Security Center 5.2 GA Improved LPR tiles in Security Desk. The LPR tiles in Security Desk have been redesigned to display more information at a glance, with additional information on a single click. You can see the Context image of the vehicle, LPR image, Patroller or Sharp unit, Plate read, and Event timestamp, directly in the tile. Additional information such as the action taken (accepted or rejected hit), Accept or Reject reason, or the Plate state is displayed in the information pop-up window with a single click. For more information, see Monitoring LPR events in the Security Desk User Guide. View plate read metadata in Security Desk. You can view and query for the plate read metadata fields Relative Motion and Vehicle Type in Security Desk reports. This feature works for Patrollers and Fixed Sharp cameras. Relative Motion tells you whether the vehicle is approaching the Sharp or moving away, and Vehicle Type detects what type of vehicle the plate belongs to (private, military, and so on). Vehicle Type is currently supported for Saudi Arabia contexts only. For more information, see the AutoVu Handbook. SharpX available with 590nm and 740nm illumination. The SharpX is now available with 590nm and 740nm illumination in XGA and VGA for 12 mm and 16 mm lenses. Improved notification for hotlist hits. Security Center now sends out a more detailed when a hotlist hit occurs, and you can quickly add or remove information from the directly from Security Center Config Tool. You also have more options for customizing the . For example, you can send the as HTML or plain text, add your own text in the subject line or message body, add formatting (bold, italics, different fonts, color, and so on), restore the default message at any time, and more. For more information, see the AutoVu Handbook. Create mandatory hotlist and permit list attributes. When adding a new attribute to a hotlist or permit list, you can make the attribute mandatory. This means that you cannot leave that attribute s column blank when you add a new entry to the list using the Hotlist and permit editor. For example, if you add the attribute Color to a hotlist and make it mandatory, the Hotlist and permit editor won t let you add a new plate to the hotlist without entering text in its color field. For more information, see the AutoVu Handbook. Associate user custom fields with reads and hits. You can add user custom fields to LPR annotation fields in order to associate a user s metadata with individual reads and hits. This allows you to query and filter for the user custom fields in Security Desk Reads and Hits reports. For example, if your users are police officers, you can add their ID numbers as a custom field called Badge in their user profile. Then, you add the custom field Badge as an annotation field for reads and hits. By doing this, every read and hit will have the officer s badge number attached to it. For more information, see the AutoVu Handbook. Sharp enhancements. The new Sharp firmware features the following enhancements: DHCP automatic renewal. Resolves IP address conflicts for daisy-chained LPR Processing Units. Automatic log file transfer. Sharp log files are automatically transferred to a USB key when you connect the key to the LPR Processing Unit. Better health monitoring. Health monitoring available from the Sharp Portal. gtap.genetec.com Security Center Release Notes 5.2 GA 11

What s new in Security Center 5.2 GA AutoVu Simplehost supports New wanted management. The AutoVu Simplehost application supports New wanted hotlist entries, allowing you to search for plates that are not on any of the loaded hotlists. Plate filtering. Security Center verifies permit lists for non-alphanumeric characters, and filters them out before sending the list to Patroller. You can choose to remove the entire plate and related information from the list, or to only remove the invalid characters from the plate text string (for example, the plate ABC!#3 would be sent to Patroller as ABC3). For more information, see the AutoVu Handbook. Permit lists support delta transfer. Security Center now detects and sends only the changes in a permit list to Patroller, rather than resending the entire permit list. This saves bandwidth for all permit enforcement users, and also allows you to use new features such as Pay-by-plate, which requires a frequent periodic transfer of permit data. Previously, this feature was only supported for hotlists. For more information, see the AutoVu Handbook. New and enhanced contexts. License plate recognition is now available, or has been improved, for the following license plates: Bahrain Columbia Pennsylvania multi-state Plugin enhancements Micropoint plugin. Security Center now supports the Micropoint plugin, which integrates Southwest Microwave s Intrepid Micropoint Cable or Micropoint ll perimeter fence detection systems in Security Center. The Micropoint plugin allows you to do the following: Create visual zones to represent a protected fence line. Associate cameras to virtual zones for monitoring. Monitor, arm, and disarm virtual zones. Investigate zone-related activities. Panasonic DVR plugin. Security Center now supports the Panasonic DVR plugin, which integrates Panasonic DVRs in Security Center. New supported video units in Security Center 5.2 GA For a list of supported video units in Security Center 5.2 GA, see the GTAP Supported Devices page, at You ll need a username and password to log on to GTAP. gtap.genetec.com Security Center Release Notes 5.2 GA 12

Resolved issues in Security Center 5.2 GA Resolved issues in Security Center 5.2 GA The following software issues were resolved in Security Center 5.2 GA. Generic issues are categorized by solution. Unit specific issues are categorized by manufacturer and/or model. NOTE SD stands for Security Desk, and CT stands for Config Tool. Solution/Unit Issue Description All CT: Deleting a unit does not remove the references to its devices in the configuration of other entities, such as zones. All CT: Deleting a role's database whose status is Not connected, may cause the role to go offline. To bring the role back online, you'll need to click Deactivate role and then Activate role. All SD/CT: Under Windows XP, the drop-down menu sometimes appears behind the window it belongs to. All SD/CT: Custom filter applied using the Search dialog box does not always display properly. All Information about query results greater than 500 appears as an error message ( error occurred while processing or Query failure ), leading the user to think an error occurred. This message should be displayed as an information message, not as an error message, since Security Center is letting the user know that the report is not displaying images in order to prevent timeout errors. All When upgrading a secondary Archiver server, the Archiver role does not automatically fail back to the primary Archiver server, resulting in the loss of video recordings during the upgrade period. All Zone: Config Tool does not prevent an input used for zone arming/disarming from being used as zone input, making it impossible for the zone to be armed on input change. All Server Admin: Illegal characters entered by mistake in the "Security Center Directory" field of an expansion server prevent the Genetec Server service from restarting. All Health monitoring: No way to filter the Health history report based on a particular Directory (as Source entity). All IPv6: After enabling IPv6 on your system, all network cards on the servers discovered prior to switching to IPv6 retain their names showing an IPv4 address, which could be misleading. All IPv6: Unable to connect to Server Admin with Config Tool (Network view > server entity) when IPv6 is enabled. All Time zone: The option to Display time based on each device s time zone is ignored by the Archives and Health history reports. This may cause you to miss certain expected events if your workstation and the devices being investigated are not in the same time zone. gtap.genetec.com Security Center Release Notes 5.2 GA 13

Resolved issues in Security Center 5.2 GA Solution/Unit Issue Description All SD/CT: report does not display the settings you configured in the Date and time options tab, instead it displays the date and time settings of the Genetec main server. All When a Directory database failover occurs, the Media Router role tries to connect to the primary server continuously, instead of reconnecting to the secondary server. All The Portable Archive Player cannot play back encrypted video. All Server Admin: Invalid database names are not detected at creation time, leading to an invalid database to be created, which cannot be deleted from Sever Admin. All CT: License usage count is not updated when units are added or removed from the system. All CT: Language tool does not work properly for Simplified Chinese. All SD: The Health statistics report cannot be generated unless a Time range has been specified using the Event timestamp filter. All SD: If the Listen button is activated while performing a monitoring task, and you switch to another task and then back to that monitoring task, the Listen button is still enabled but the audio stops working. All Supervised logoff does not work when the connection port is something other than All When you configure a scheduled task using the Send task action, the Save button is hidden. All In the Incidents task, you cannot type double characters in Japanese. All If your main Directory server fails and then reconnects, the database is restored, but backup operations are no longer available. All If you change the layout of a public task but do not have the Modify public tasks user privilege, you are still able to save your workspace, but your changes are not saved. All Custom events cannot be used to create event-to-actions in Security Center 5.2. All If there are two or more active alarms in the Alarm monitoring task, you might receive a Waiting for signal error in a tile when viewing the alarm video. All After upgrading your main server from 5.1 to 5.2, you cannot logon to Security Desk with version 5.1 if you have any analog monitors in the system. All If your Directory role is set up for load balancing and you log in and get redirected to one of the failover Directory servers, you cannot arm/disarm zones. All You must be an administrator to run the Copy configuration tool, even if you have the user privileges modify that entity. All It is hard to specify a type of entity when creating an Entity custom field type, because the entities are in a flat list. Access Cardholder Management: Cropping feature does not crop the area defined by the user. gtap.genetec.com Security Center Release Notes 5.2 GA 14

Resolved issues in Security Center 5.2 GA Solution/Unit Issue Description Access CT: Not all required fields for Honeywell intrusion detection units are validated by the entity creation wizard. Access Global Cardholder Management: The first scheduled synchronization fails. Access CT: While creating a new cardholder with the wizard, once the cardholder entity name is initialized, going back to change the first or last name does not automatically update the entity name. LPR AutoVu LPR: Sharp units under Patrollers always appear as online in SD and CT, regardless of their real status, as long as the Patroller is connected to the LPR Manager external system. LPR If you have more than one LPR Manager role in your Directory when you create a new hotlist or permit list, they are assigned to all LPR Managers by default. LPR Fixed Sharp units do not support LPR Manager role failover. LPR If you configure more than one failover server in the LPR Manager role Resources tab, you may experience problems during failover if there are fixed Sharp units connected to the LPR Manager role. LPR SD: If you delete a duplicate license plate number in the Hotlist and permit editor task in Security Desk, the original plate number is also deleted. Plugins POS plugin: The POS dashboard results do not match the POS receipt amounts. Video When a server is configured as a proxy (with a public address) on a network, all stream requests are redirected through it, even when the request is issued from inside the network. Video SD: Viewing multiple video streams federated from Omnicast 4.x in synchronized playback mode does not always work. Video SD: When you move playback to the beginning of a sequence, audio may stop. To turn audio back on, click Listen twice. Video Auxiliary Archiver: when you deactivate and activate the role, a warning appears briefly on screen. This is a false-positive warning notification. Video SD: The playback timeline might not display correctly when switching between valid and invalid video sources. Video CT: PTZ calibration for the direct XYZ positioning feature is very difficult because the specific field of view parameters are not supplied by default for the specific camera model. Video Video feed may flicker when changing the resolution. Video Move unit: When moving an edge recording camera from one Archiver to another, the trickling parameters are not deleted from the first Archiver. Video IPv6: After an Archiver failover or failback on a full IPv6 network, the video stream connections are not restored. gtap.genetec.com Security Center Release Notes 5.2 GA 15

Resolved issues in Security Center 5.2 GA Solution/Unit Issue Description Video Media Router: When IPv6 is enabled, all IPv4 video streams are ignored. Media Router does not support dual stack. When you decide to enable IPv6 on one server in your system, you must enable it on all servers in your system. A Security Center system using IPv6 cannot receive the video from a federated system using IPv4. Video Migration tool: Steps that do not apply to certain scenarios are left empty by the Wizard instead of being skipped, such as the "Omnicast information" step when there is no Directory to migrate, which could be confusing to the user. Video SD: Audio volume cannot be changed on Security Desk when it comes from federated Omnicast cameras and decoded using out of process media components. Video CT: Changing the key frame interval on a H.264 camera from number of seconds per key frame to number of images per key frame may cause the video streaming to stop. Video CT: The key frame interval is not converted properly from number of images per key frame to number of seconds per key frame if the end result is less than a second. Video Some video stream statistics information overlayed on the video tile (CTRL+SHIFT+A) is not updated during playback. The Key frame interval is not updated at playback speed higher than 4x or -4x. The RTP packets lost/received are not updated during playback. The Network transport is not updated during playback. Video Motion detection: On high resolution cameras, Config Tool does not display as many motion blocks as the Archiver is capable of detecting. Video Export: Folders are not created automatically if they do not exist. Video CPU usage is not shown correctly in the notification tray when Security Desk is overloaded (16 camera streams). Video Export: The Export video from all tiles command (CTRL+SHIFT+E) only exports the tiles showing playback video. Video SD: When the timeline is displayed in a tile, it may take up to 5 seconds for the information to be refreshed. Video Auxiliary Archiver: Switching the order of the archive storage disks does not take effect until the role is restarted. Video SD: The Listen button in the camera widget remains enabled when the playback speed is higher than 4x or -4x, even though the audio is automatically disabled. Video Migration tool: The Maximum bit rate is not migrated correctly. Video Trickling: Video Trickling does not work correctly on Windows XP. Video You cannot play G64 video files in the Video file player task if the filename contains special characters (#, +, and so on). Video Auxiliary Archiver: Omnicast federated entities cannot be added to an Auxiliary Archiver even though they appear in the Select entities window. gtap.genetec.com Security Center Release Notes 5.2 GA 16
