Was also the editor of (and a contributor to) a significant NSIF Approved Document: NSIF , Requirements for the TCP/IP Protocol Suite on the SONET Access DCN that addresses how TL1 messages are transmitted over a TCP/IP network such as a telephone central office LAN. OIF (Optical Internetworking Forum) from 1999 to 2001; TMF (TeleManagement Forum) from 1999 to 2000; ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union Telecommunications Standardization Sector) SG 4 (Lead Study Group on TMN), 12 (Lead Study Group on Quality of Service and performance) and 15 (Lead Study Group on Access Network Transport and on Optical Technology) from ; MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) Forum; and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.3ae Project Group. Has attended and participated in a number of industry conferences, including SuperComm, National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference ( NFOEC ), Global OSS Summit, IEEE Network Operations and Management Symposium ( NOMS ), SMTA (Surface Mount Technology Association) and NanoTx. At NFOEC 1999, Steve Oliva, from Sprint, and I jointly presented a paper and a presentation titled, Bandwidth Management Requirements and Capabilities Today. With respect to Global OSS Summit, was a Session Chairman in 2002 and gave a presentation on New Metro Technologies: New OSS Challenges.

Became the authoritative source within Rockwell and Alcatel, and was presented to customers as such, with respect to the network management features of the above products. In that role, gained in-depth knowledge as to the switching, transport, and multiplexing functions of the above products and how those functions were deployed in a wide variety of the networks. Directly responsible for the introduction of new TMN (telecommunications management network) standard, CORBA-based management interfaces, management functions, and particular ANSI, ITU-T, and NMF compliant network management features in all Alcatel/Rockwell communications standards-oriented products including cross connect products, SONET fiber optic transmission products, network management systems and craft devices. Championed all TMN issues at Alcatel. Coordinated the advancement and rollout of network management capabilities in the entire portfolio of communications products to 1995 Senior Product Manager for the 1320 NM network management system and a Product Planner Manager for future network management products, was directly responsible for product definition for network management products including: Aspects of the user interface including data hierarchy and containment presentation and user interaction; Aspects of the network interface including physical, electrical and protocol considerations; Aspects of data retrieval from and synchronization with the network, data maintenance and management, and the database management system;

During this time, was responsible to oversee all aspects of financing, development, marketing and sales of the 1320 NM and responsible for these same areas to a lesser degree for other network management products in Alcatel's product portfolio. Responsible for SONET telecommunications network management products. Successfully initiated product definition and development, defined life cycle, migration and enhancement plans. Fine-tuned product direction for a family of ANSI standard SONET OAM&P products including element managers, small network management systems and craft interface devices. Established development priorities for network management requirements throughout the entire Alcatel/Rockwell transmission products portfolio. Was responsible for inclusion of consistent seven-layer data communication network interfaces, appropriate layered network management architecture features and standard network element information models in all transmission products. Served as pre-sale and post-sale key customer contact for network management products and issues. Actively participated and contributed to ANSI T1M1 and T1X1 standards committees. Successfully established Alcatel/Rockwell as a qualified and competent OAM&P supplier in the telecommunications industry with customers such as Telecom Canada, Southern Bell and Southwestern Bell to 1988 Systems Engineer Responsible for customer interview, proposal, design and implementation of telecommunication networks for a number of diverse customers. A significant focus in these projects was the integration of new equipment into existing networks and existing network management systems to 1984 Project Engineer assigned to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the Saudi Arabian Intra-Kingdom Microwave Project, a $90 million microwave telecommunications project to 1982 Assignments included circuit design and other engineering positions in the microwave transmission products development laboratory.
