11 Centralised Traffic Management and Control Subsystem (UTOPIA) UTOPIA PLATFORM (Urban Traffic Optimization by Integrated Automation) is a specific concept, designed to improve the urban travel conditions by applying the principles of fully automated control UTOPIA is a self-calibrating control system, using real-time dynamic optimization methods, based on mathematical models for estimation and prediction of traffic Based on a specific system architecture and certain control strategies, UTOPIA System was designed to provide an answer for two fundamental requirements of large areas traffic control systems, integrating both urban and extra-urban systems (highways and railways) Significant improvements of private vehicles mobility in all driving conditions Absolute or selective priority for public transport in the controlled intersections 11
