1 Xdensity 10GE SFP+ Load Modules The advancement of high-density, high-performance network switches, routers, aggregation devices, network appliances, and servers has steadily accelerated since the standardization of 10GE in Ixia has consistently led the test industry with innovative 10GE products, and kept pace with the testing demands of network equipment manufacturers (NEMs), service providers, enterprises, and government agencies by continually increasing port density and protocol scalability. Cloud computing and data center convergence continue to change the dynamics of business IT, while increasing consumer appetite for highbandwidth, media-rich services fuels service provider demand for nextgeneration, ultra-high port density 10GE switches and routers. These developments point to the need for ultra-high-density and low-cost 10GE test beds. In turn, NEM and service provider suppliers to the converged data center and cloud computing markets increasingly need high-density, low-cost traffic generators to fully stress their machines. Xdensity Overview Ixia s Xdensity family of load modules offers the industry s most cost-effective solution for validating the performance of 10GbE switches and router fabrics. Xdensity load modules use hardware-based, wire-speed latency measurements and require no other cards to be included in the test bed in order for high-accuracy latency tests to be conducted. Xdensity provides a practical solution for large 10GE test beds with a single XM12 or XG12 chassis; realizing a 48 percent power savings across four chassis full of NGY SFP+ while supporting the same 384-ports of 10GE. Xdensity is configured using Ixia s IxNetwork software, which is specifically designed for quick test creation and maximum ease-of-use.
