3 1. Purpose of the addendum The present addendum has been submitted to the BIPT in order to update the technical specifications of the reference offers WBA-VDSL2 and BROBA. 2. Scope of this addendum This addendum is applicable to the WBA VDSL2 services with shared and dedicated VLAN and to the BROBA over Ethernet ADSL (covering the technologies ADSL, and ADSL2+) services (with Shared and dedicated VLAN) delivered from ROP, as described in the Wholesale Broadband Access VDSL2 reference offer and in the Reference Offer for Bitstream Access. 3. Operational Impact Testing with the ISAM firmware which is planned to be deployed from March 2015 onwards (see Flash 5146) has revealed some behaviours already present in the current firmware that are slightly different from the behaviour as described in the different reference offers. Downstream (from OAL to CPE): Small volumes of control frames which are received from the OAL with a priority different from p0 or p1, are not discarded but retagged to p0. Upstream (from CPE to OAL) :. DHCP-control frames with the p-bit set to p1 by the CPE pass transparently in shared VLAN for WBA VDSL x control frames are not blocked but pass transparently in dedicated VLAN model for WBA VDSL2 and BROBA over Ethernet on ISAM. 4. Ordering and provisioning Process These differences in transparency do not have any impact on the ordering process, neither the communication flows during ordering and provisioning of OLO Access lines and shared VLANs. These differences in transparency do not have any impact on the ordering process, neither the communication flows during ordering and provisioning of new WBA VDSL2 and BROBA lines: no new XML, no new action type, and no new fields in the XML-messages. 5. E-Tools These differences in transparency do not have any impact on the XDSL availability tool. Fault reporting and repair process These differences in transparency do not have any impact on the fault reporting and repair process, neither the communication flows during reporting and repair process of OLO Access lines or shared VLANs, and of WBA VDSL2 and BROBA lines. 7. Pricing These differences in transparency do not have any impact on the current pricing conditions as defined i n the Wholesale Broadband Access VDSL2 reference offer and in the Reference Offer for Bitstream Access. 8. Adaptation on WBA documents The sections of the WBA offer documents which are impacted by this Addendum are indicated in the subsequent paragraphs. Those adaptations refer to the consolidated version of the WBA offer (WBA VDSL2 reference offer (version 11), published on Proximus website, at which includes the integration of the Addendum to the WBA VDSL2 and BROBA ADSL offers p0 & p1- tagged Ethernet frames in P0 VLAN service authorized by BIPT on 16/09/2014 (cf Flash n 5136). WBA Annex 2 technical specifications In section 3.1 End-to-End view, the whole text after graph 1 end to end overview (shared VLANs) must be replaced by (changes are shaded with turquoise): This Wholesale Broadband Access VDSL2 (in short: WBA VDSL2) service is offering an Ethernet connectivity between the OLO Access Line and the VDSL2 lines. Eight VLAN services are defined on the Ethernet Network, differentiated by a priority level, two VLAN services for each priority: Best effort (P0 & P0bis) Low priority (P1 & P1bis) Medium priority (P3 & P3bis) Highest priority (P5 & P5bis) and better performance for jitter and delay sensitive traffic. 5 -discard in downstream Ethernet frames, tagged otherwise than p0 & p1, except small volumes 1 of control frames which are received from the OAL with a priority different from p0 or p1, These control frames are not discarded but retagged to p0. -retag in upstream all Ethernet Frames to p0 except DHCP control frames with the p-bit set to p1 by the CPE which pass transparently. The P1 & P1bis, P3 & P3bis and P5 & P5bis VLAN services transport Ethernet frames tagged respectively with p1, p3 & p5 priority values. Ethernet frames not tagged respectively with the corresponding priority values p1, p3 or p5 are retagged to respectively p1, p3 & p5. Each VDSL2 line can offer to the End-user one or none of the two P0 services, one or none of the two P1 services, one or none of the two P3 services and one or none of the two P5 services. The P5 and P5bis VLAN services have the highest priority in the network, and are also designed to offer better performance for jitter and delay sensitive traffic (e.g. voice and real-time traffic). This performance is obtained with a reduced size of the buffers compared to other service qualities. The traffic sent on VLANs P5 and P5bis should take into account that this service is less tolerant to bursts of data. It is advised to send traffic with an appropriate shaping to avoid packet losses. An appropriate shaping can be implemented as follows: for traffic with priority value p5 the shaper shall be configured slightly below the ordered P5 (resp. P5bis) transport bandwidth and the traffic shall be sent with a constant bitrate to avoid packet loss. For p5-tagged traffic on a shared P5 (resp. P5bis) VLAN the sum of the shaped bandwidths shall stay slightly below the ordered P5 (resp. P5bis) transport bandwidth. The VLAN-id scheme on all VDSL2 lines is common for all OLO s. E.g.: VLAN-id 10 = Best Effort (P0 or P0bis). (note that the Ethernet frames can be p0 and p1 tagged) The IP-DSLAM is working as a VLAN Ethernet bridge performing translation between the VLAN-id on the VDSL line, to a VLAN, dedicated for 1 service and 1 OLO. This bridge is shared amongst all end-users of the same service of the same OLO. E.g.: All traffic of OLO1 end-users conveyed in P0 VLAN service is bridged to VLAN 2200 on the IP-DSLAM NT. All traffic of OLO1 end-users conveyed in P0bis VLAN service is bridged to VLAN 2202 on the IP-DSLAM NT. Per service, the VLANs of the end-user lines of an Operator will be aggregated on LEX level in the Access Node of the Ethernet Aggregation Network and transported in 1 VLAN to the Service PoP, where the OLO Access Line is connected. There are 2 Service PoPs, located in 2 different buildings, per Aggregation Network, and 5 Aggregation Networks for whole Belgium. Each of the 5 Aggregation Networks is covering 1 geographical Area. The VLAN ends in 1 VLAN on 1 OLO Access Line. Per service and per LEX where the Operator wants to be active, he will need to order 1 separate VLAN between the LEX and one of the 2 Service PoPs of the Aggregation Network to whom the LEX belongs. In this LEX, all end-users of the Operator with the same service (e.g.: P0bis) will share this same VLAN separated from the VLAN (e.g.: P0) of the same OLO or any other OLO The OLO will connect the Service PoP to his OLO Access line. 1 For security reasons, parameters will not be publicly shared. 6 In section 3.4 VLAN characteristics, the whole text before table 1 must be replaced by (changes are shaded with turquoise): o The P1 & P1bis, P3 & P3bis and P5 & P5bis shared VLANs transport only one sort of tagged Ethernet frames: each Pi 2 or Pi bisvlan transports only pi 3 -tagged Ethernet frames o The P0 & P0bis VLAN services : o transport in downstream p0 & p1 tagged Ethernet frames, both in Best Effort QoS and hand them over to the ISAM, tagged with the original p-bit, received from the OAL. o discard in downstream Ethernet frames, tagged otherwise than p0 & p1, except small volumes 3 of control frames which are received from the OAL with a priority different from p0 or p1, These control frames are not discarded but retagged to p0. o retag in upstream all Ethernet Frames to p0 except DHCP control frames with the p-bit set to p1 by the CPE which pass transparently. o o The offered VLANs allow very little amount of Multicast & Broadcast Ethernet frames => No Multicast service is possible! The following table summarizes the VLAN Bandwidths available in function of the service chosen by the OLO: In section Shared VLAN, the whole section must be replaced by (changes are shaded with turquoise): On UNI it is possible to provision up to 4 VLAN IDs. Proximus will use VLAN 20 for management and upgrade of the CPE. 7 Upstream: in VLAN 10, the ISAM retags all Ethernet Frames to p0 except DHCP control frames with the p-bit set to p1 by the CPE which pass transparently.. This VLAN id scheme is identical for all OLOs. No multicast Ethernet packets are allowed! Upstream Marking: p-bit setting on vlan on bridge port Policing: No policing in upstream in the IP-Dslam. Downstream Scheduling: Hierarchical scheduler: p0: best effort. p1: low priority. p3: medium priority. p5: highest priority. The highest two priorities (highest priority and medium priority) are served by a Strict Priority (SP) mechanism, assuring that these mostly real-time applications do not suffer from too large delays. best effort and low priority Ethernet frames compete for bandwidth in a fair manner. The weight of the low priority queue = 66%. Adaptation on BROBA documents The sections of the BROBA offer documents which are impacted by this Addendum are indicated in the subsequent paragraphs. Those adaptations refer to the consolidated version of the BROBA offer (BROBA ADSL SDSL offer approved by the BIPT on 03/03/2015), published on Proximus website, at which includes the integration of the Addendum to the WBA VDSL2 and BROBA ADSL offers p0 & p1- tagged Ethernet frames in P0 VLAN service authorized by BIPT on 16/09/2014 (cf. Flash n 5136). Annex 2B: Technical Specifications of BROBA over Ethernet (with Shared VLAN or Dedicated VLAN) delivered from ROP In section Architecture, after graph 1, the text must be replaced by (changes are shaded with turquoise): This BROBA over Ethernet ADSL(2+) from ROP service is offering an Ethernet connectivity between the OLO Access Line and the ADSL2+ lines. Within Building Outphasing (BO) networks, the ADSL(2+) lines are terminated on the Multi-DSL line card located in the Remote Optical Platform (ROP). 10 Multi-DSL line-card provides multi-mode services (VDSL2, ADSL, ADSL2+) over POTS. On the ATM based ADSL(2+) line, traffic segregation is performed via support of multiple PVC. Each PVC is translated to a VLAN per service per OLO at IP DSLAM and vice versa. As described in the WBA-VDSL2 reference offer 6, eight VLAN services are defined in the Ethernet Aggregation Network, differentiated by a priority level, two VLANs for each priority: Best Effort (P0 & P0bis) Low priority (P1 & P1bis) Medium priority (P3 & P3bis) Highest priority (P5 & P5bis) and better performance for delay and jitter sensitive traffic. 11 Network, and 5 Aggregation Networks for whole Belgium. Each of the 5 Aggregation Networks is covering 1 geographical Area. The VLAN ends in 1 VLAN on 1 OLO Access Line. Per service and per LEX where the Beneficiary wants to be active, he will need to order 1 separate VLAN between the LEX and one of the 2 Service PoPs of the Aggregation Network to whom the LEX belongs. In this LEX, all end-users of the Beneficiary with the same service (e.g.: P0bis) will share this same VLAN separated from another VLAN (e.g.: P0) of the same OLO or any other OLO. The OLO will interconnect to the Service PoP via the OLO Access line. This service allows a Beneficiary to group ATM DSL traffic BROBA over Ethernet together with WBA VDSL2 traffic in shared VLANs, maximum two per OLO and per LEX and per priority level. The wording shared has here a double meaning: shared amongst different users and shared amongst ATM DSL & WBA VDSL2 users. The BROBA over ETHERNET ADSL (2+) from ROP shared VLAN service shares the aggregation network defined in the documents WBA VDSL2 Annex 2 Technical specifications, sections Aggregation Network structure, Aggregation Areas and VLAN characteristics 8. In section 3.3 Aggregation Network, the paragraph VLANs at Ethernet side must be replaced by (changes are shaded with turquoise): The BROBA over ETHERNET service shares the aggregation network defined in the documents WBA VDSL2 Annex 2 Technical specifications, sections Aggregation Network structure, Aggregation Areas and VLAN characteristics 9. Most important characteristics: Max 8 bridges (P0, P1, P3, P5, P0bis, P1bis, P3bis, P5bis) in the Ethernet node in the LEX, for both WBA and for BROBA over Ethernet. Proximus connects the bridges in the access nodes to corresponding bridges in the IP DSLAMs VLAN connectivity per bridge, up to an OAL, ordered by the OLO. P1, P1bis, P3, P3bis, P5, P5bis: Each VLAN transports 1 service (=p-bit) to 1 Access node (1 per LEX).
