1 1. Introduction User information PLATINUM H web server PLATINUM H inverters are equipped with a built-in web server. It can be used for monitoring both the inverters and the entire system. Some settings can be changed via the web server as well. These instructions describe the conditions required for using this web server and the options it offers. 2. Connection between inverter and computer The remote enquiry option allows checking the system power at the computer. The connection between inverter and computer can be established directly or via a network Without network At least one CAT5 ethernet crossover cable is required for connecting the inverter to the computer in order to create a connection with the inverter. PC Note: If several inverters are connected by a CAN bus, only the master inverter has to be connected with a CAT5 cable. The IP addresses of computer and inverter must be in the same subnet range, i.e. if the inverter s IP address is X, the computer s IP address has to be Y, with X and Y being two different numbers between 1 and Inverter The inverters preset IP address is To change this address, go to Configuration- >Network configuration and enter the desired address.

2 Computer This chapter describes how to change the computer s IP address using the example of Windows 7* - the procedure may vary for other operating systems. *Windows is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation. The computer s IP address should be changed as follows: 1. Click Start to open the network menu. 2. Click on Control Panel> Network and Sharing Center. 3. Click on LAN Connection > Properties. 4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Properties. 5. Select Use the following IP address. Enter standard parameters: IP address , subnet mask Click on OK and OK To establish a connection to PLATINUM H, the inverter's IP address has to be entered in the address bar of the browser. 3 2.2. With network If a network is available, the configuration of the connection between inverter and computer depends on whether DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is used. With DCHP, a router or switch usually distributes the parameters required (IP address and subnet mask) to the devices in the network. Fig.2.2: Connection with network and world wide web 1. PC Connect inverter and PC to the router / switch using at least one CAT5 ethernet cable With DHCP On the inverter 1. Go to Configuration->Network setup. 2. Set the IP address to With this setting, the router / switch will automatically distribute the network parameters to the inverter. After changing the network settings and pressing OK, the GUI will restart Without DHCP On the inverter 1. Go to Configuration->Network setup. 2. Set the desired unique IP address on the inverter. The inverter's IP address has to be an IP address unused in the net. After changing the network settings and pressing OK, the GUI will restart.

4 2.3. Access via internet To be able to access the inverter(s) from the internet, additional parameters have to be set within the network settings. First, the inverter needs a static IP address in the local network. This can be done via the inverter, as described above, or configured via the network router / switch. Then 'port forwarding' has to be set in the local network router. This is usually done in the router s / switch s 'Advanced Settings', but the procedure may vary for different manufacturers. Port '80' of the router has to be forwarded to the static IP address of the HE-t. The external IP address of the local network can be found under Note: If your internet service provider (ISP) assigns a dynamic IP address to the local network, it is improbable for the external IP address to stay constant over a longer period of time. It is possible to have an account set up free of charge at no-ip or similar providers who offer a normal internet address which is connected to the IP address of the local network. For the no-ip service to work correctly, the user s router needs to forward its IP address to the no-ip service. For this purpose, the router has an area containing the information for the no-ip user account. If the user s router does not have this function, but a dynamic IP address, the no-ip settings have to be updated manually at regular intervals. Once this is done, the PLATINUM web server should be accessible when the external IP address of the local network or the web address (if using no-ip or similar) is entered in the web browser.

5 3. Built-in web server The inverter is equipped with a built-in web server which provides detailed information on operation and warning messages/alarms as well as on the power generation or the inverter or system. The website is displayed best with Firefox 6.0 or Internet Explorer 8.0 (or newer). Some settings of the inverter/system can be changed in Setup >Site Setup. To do this, enter the correct user name and the password. Enter the internal or external IP address or the web address (if using no-ip or similar) in the browser. The sign-in screen appears. Fig. 3. Sign-in screen The standard administrator account is: User name: admin, Password: admin. This can be changed by the user, which should be done in any case if the web server is connected to the internet.

6 3.1. Home The Home screen is the standard screen that appears when opening the web server. Fig.3.1. Home screen System status indicates status and operating mode of system or inverter. The current values for the DC and AC sides are shown on the right side. Production status indicates the yield for the current day, month and year. Detailed values can be enquired by moving the mouse over the graphs. System: If you move the mouse to "System" in the top right corner of the screen, a list of the inverters in your system appears. Select one to have its system and production status shown. You can return to the system s total status in the same way.

7 3.2. Statistics Statistics shows an overview of the energy yield of the current week and the past 12 months. 8 3.3. Configuration Configuration shows several settings and information on the system and the inverters. The first window shows some general system data as well as some data of the inverter that is connecting the system to the (internet) network. Fig.3.3. The stored data can be called up again using the circle symbol General settings General settings shows date, time of day, CO2 rate, earnings rate and earnings currency.

9 Fig General settings All data can be changed here Alarm setup Alarm setup allows entering and changing the configuration for automatic messages to 1 or 2 recipients. First, the data of the sender as well as of the recipients are entered. The second step is setting how often which recipient is to receive which information. 11 Fig Network All data can be changed here, but take care: Changing network data will change the configuration of the connection between inverter and (internet) network! Please only change data if you know exactly how to reconfigure the connection to the (internet) network yourself User Account User Account shows the user account configuration of the inverter directly connected to the (internet) network. The first screen shows the user with administrator access (level 3). Both the default user name and password are Admin. Fig User Account - 1

12 The password can be changed here. By clicking Edit Accounts, you get to the second screen, where up to 10 users with different access rights can be set up or changed. Event log Admin: can see and change all data Owner: can see and change all data; with the exception of user accounts and network setup Guest: can see all data, but has no access to the setup and therefore cannot change anything Event log shows the event list of the inverter directly connected to the (internet) network. The events displayed separately for every day. The events of the day selected are shown in chronological order. The information cannot be changed.

13 Fig.3.4: Event log The most recent events are shown. You can browse the list using the buttons in the bottom right corner. You can also select any day from the calendar as a starting point Status Status shows the active warnings and alarms of the entire system. The list includes all potential warnings and alarms. If a warning or an alarm is active for one of the inverters, they will be marked.

14 Fig Status-1 The word System appears twice in the first line of the table. Clicking on the left-hand System will show you which inverters are indicating faults. By clicking on the right-hand System, you can call up the statuses of individual inverters. Overview shows the technical profile of the inverter/system, the energy data of the DC and AC side, the energy and the peak power. The information cannot be changed. Fig Status- 2
