1 Thermal Printer Configuration (EPSON) STEP A : IDENTIFY THE THERMAL PRINTER MODEL Check for your EPSON printer model by finding the label on the printer. Figure 1.1 For the example above (Figure 1.1), the model is TM- T88 V. Result Of Step A - You now should be able to determine your EPSON thermal printer model.

2 STEP B : CONFIGURE THERMAL PRINTER ( ONLY REQUIRED FOR MODEL TM- T88 V) NOTE *: For model TM- T88 IV And Below this step can be skipped. Can directly jump to Step C. Figure Reset your Epson printer. Before starting, the printer needs to be reset to factory defaults. Turn your printer off. Hold down the power-on button and press and hold down the push button in the small pinhole near the ethernet plug for 5 seconds(figure 2.1). The reset will be confirmed with a small print out. 2. Enable DHCP If you have a network administrator, please consult with them before completing this step. 1) Plug your computer into the EPSON printer using an ethernet cable. (Figure 2.2)

3 Figure 2.2 2) To access the printer set-up screen, you will need to change your computer's IP address temporarily. It is important to note down your current settings before changing anything; you will need to change this back at the end of the set-up process. You will be changing the settings to: Connection method: Manual/Static IP IP Address: xxx - the last 3 digits can be any number between 1-254, except 168. Subnet Mask: Router/Default Gateway: Follow the steps in the link below for your operating system For Mac OS 1) Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Network. 2) Select the network port configuration for your account (such as Ethernet) in the list at the left. 3) Choose Manually or Using DHCP from the Configure pop-up menu. If you choose Manually, enter the address in the IP Address field. Your ISP most likely gave you other addresses as well, such as the subnet mask, router, and Domain Name System (DNS) server address. Enter those addresses in the appropriate fields.

4 For Window OS 1) Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type adapter, and then, under Network and Sharing Center, click View network connections. 2) Right-click the connection that you want to change, and then click Properties. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 3) Click the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click either Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), and then click Properties. 4) To specify IPv4 IP address settings, do one of the following: To get IP settings automatically using DHCP, click Obtain an IP address automatically, and then click OK. To specify an IP address, click Use the following IP address, and then, in the IP address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway boxes, type the IP address settings. 5) To specify DNS server address settings, do one of the following: To get a DNS server address automatically using DHCP, click Obtain DNS server address automatically, and then click OK. To specify a DNS server address, click Use the following DNS server addresses, and then, in the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server boxes, type the addresses of the primary and secondary DNS servers.

5 3) In your Internet browser, navigate to This will open the printer setup. Figure 2.3

6 4) Under the configuration menu, select TCP/IP 5) Change the 'Get IP Address' setting to 'Auto', and click 'Submit'. You will see a message on your screen confirming your changes, and the printer will reboot. 6) Reset your computer's IP address back to its original settings. To do this, follow step 2 again, but use the settings you noted down. This will enable your computer to connect to the your network again. Result For Step B - Your thermal printer now should be configured.

7 STEP C : CONNECT THE THERMAL PRINTER TO ROUTER 1) Connect the thermal printer to router by plugging in the ethernet cable to both thermal printer port and router port. (Notes for the red circle position) 2) Make sure the ethernet is correctly plugged in and the light is on for the port respectively. Result For Step C - Your thermal printer should be connected to router now.

8 STEP D : GET THE THERMAL PRINTER IP ADDRESS 1) Make sure your printer is turned on. 2) Hold down the push button for 3 seconds (the same one you used to reset the default settings). Your printer will print out the current network settings. 3) Check the number in the 'IP Address' field. If this shows (NONE) or anything starting with xxx.xxx, check your printer is connected to the network. After a few seconds, try Step 1 again. If it still displays the this, try setting it up again.if this shows anything else, your printer has been successfully set up. You will get a printed receipt as below. Result For Step D - You should be getting the printed receipt.

9 STEP E: SET UP IN IPAD SETTINGS 1) Make sure the ipad is connected to same wifi network with the thermal printer. (Note: It is important as it is required for the wifi to detect the thermal printer) 2) Click Settings and click Setup Thermal Printer

10 3) Select ip address based on the receipt printed previously.

11 3) Select Printer Type

12 4) Select Printer Language

13 5) You are now able to print order with thermal printer. Result For Step E - You should be getting the receipt as below.
