5 COMPREHENSIVE TESTING SOLUTION FOR MULTIPLE NETWORK APPLICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES Full-Featured SONETTesting for Analyzing Multi-Service Performance As service providers and equipment manufacturers address the need for multi-service networks at various transmission rates, it becomes imperative that they have a testing solution to qualify such a network. The TestPad 2000 supports multi-rate transmission testing from DS0 to OC-48 and also has extended support for testing additional services, such as ATM, GR-303, ISDN, signaling, and other switched services. With the TestPad 2000, technicians can verify endto-end performance of a circuit as well as simulate abnormal conditions on the network to ensure successful network performance. 10-Gig Network Testing for Rapid Provisioning and Easy Maintenance Backbone networks span the globe, and that means that the same test solution must test both SONET and SDH. The TestPad 2000 provides both OC-192 and STM-64 testing in one 9-pound (4.1 kg) package, letting the technician turn up 10-Gig networks around the world. By enabling faster, easier, and more reliable turn-up of STM-16/64 rings, the TestPad 2000 accelerates deployment and revenue generation, as well as reduces operational costs. And it tests and monitors networks in a number of performance areas, including timing and synchronization verification, automatic protection switching according to ITU-T recommendations, mux wrap testing, and identification of anomalies and defects. Wireless Field Service Testing for End-to-End Analysis The TestPad 2000 has strong BERT features such as advanced stress patterns, level, and frequency measurements that verify the physical layer of the T1 circuit. In addition, it can perform GSM analysis by monitoring, non-intrusively, GSM traffic from a T1 access point. The TestPad 2000 can be used between the base station and the switch without disrupting revenue-generating traffic and displays a real-time overview of traffic activity on all 24 DS0 channels and four sub-channels. In addition, in-operation measurements of the actual radio frequency (RF) signal level and quality can be performed at the cell site (base station and antenna). Furthermore, interferences in the cellular frequency band can be detected using the test module s own antenna. 7 E1/Data Field Service Testing for Trouble-Free Commissioning Today s global switched-voice networks contain a mix of technologies, and the TestPad 2000 provides options to meet the challenge of commissioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting multiple applications, including E1 digital leased-line services, ISDN, DASS2, CAS, frame relay, and datacom. The performance of the physical circuit can be fully evaluated prior to establishing and testing the particular service that the link is intended to support. And field technicians can solve protocol-based problems without having to carry or operate a protocol analyzer. The TestPad 2000 displays comprehensive call statistics for the aggregate E1 link and for each channel, and it provides a snapshot of the call status of all 30 channels in one expanded results display window. Complete DSL Service Testing in One Visit Commissioning DSL service means that customer connections from the lower transmission layer network protocols all the way up through the customer applications, including ISP/Internet connectivity, must be validated. To determine where they can make performance enhancements or to identify performance limitations, companies use the TestPad 2000 to verify the maximum possible rate for a connection and to evaluate the DSL signal strength over the loop.
