5 Time-based Instant Bandwidth: Enabling Flexible Network Architectures Infinera has extended the Instant Bandwidth capability to introduce a new Time-based Instant Bandwidth feature that allows customers to deploy network capacity for a defined duration. It enables customers to activate pre-deployed bandwidth in 25 Gb/s, 37.5 Gb/s, 50 Gb/s or 100 Gb/s increments on the same day via the Infinera DNA management system for a short period of time, with the deactivation of the line-side bandwidth at the end of the time period. It offers flexible control of network capacity and its duration, enabling high levels of flexibility to manage strategic as well as event driven short-term high capacity bandwidth needs. In addition, Time-based Instant Bandwidth can be used as an effective tool to temporarily activate bandwidth over an alternate route to enhance network survivability. With Time-based Instant Bandwidth customers can now rent network capacity to manipulate the bandwidth characteristics to closely match traffic patterns, service demands, and network disruptions.
