5.0 Return Path Installation requirements Where a Return Path is required to be provided on any iqhd or Standard iq installations, service moves or upgrades, the IP Return Path will be installed as the primary option providing the customer has broadband internet with an available Ethernet port. Notes: The Patch Lead and Powerline Adaptors require a connection to an Ethernet port, the only STU s that have an IP Return Path installed are the iqhd Pace 850/851 & Standard iq Pace 480. When completing a service move or upgrade, re-install the customer s existing Digipath (Metro only). Foxtel will continue to offer replacement Digipaths via fulfillment for faulty units. The priority order of Return Path connectivity is as follow: 1. IP Return Path via Patch Lead connection (subject to broadband internet, available Modem/Router port and proximity to STU ie. within 3 metres) 2. IP Return Path via Powerline Adapter (PLA) connection (subject to broadband internet, available Modem/Router port and proximity to STU ie. greater than 3 metres or in different rooms) If the Technician cannot establish an IP connection (eg. Powerline Adaptor unable to pair through the household electrical wiring) at installation, record this on the Foxtel Work Order. In addition to the above IP Return Path connectivity options, where required an IP 5 Port Switch may need to be installed or where specifically specified by the customer an IP Wiring (hard wire) option utilised. If the broadband Cable, NBN or ADSL connection is not present at the time the Technician attends the premises, the Technician must: 1. Connect the supplied Patch lead into the Powerline Adapter and the other end into the Ethernet port of the Foxtel STU. Then connect the Powerline Adapter into a power point 2. Connect the other Powerline Adapter into a power point in the vicinity of the proposed Modem/Router location and 3. Connect the supplied Patch lead into the Powerline Adapter and advise the customer they need to connect the other end into the Modem/Router s Ethernet port once broadband internet has been connected. Note where required, supply and fit a longer Cat6 Patch Lead. If the above situation occurs, record the relevant details on the Foxtel Work Order, including the room(s) the Powerline Adapters are installed and that they were tested to be on the same electrical circuit. 8 5.1 Return Path connectivity options The following sections within this chapter outline the installation instructions for completing the required Return Path option as listed above. HANDY TIP: The IP Return Path will not work with WIFI Wireless Dongles eg. USB Dongle Modem Express Card Modem Patch Lead Only If the customer s Modem/Router and Foxtel STU is within 3m of each other, it can be connected directly by a Patch Lead. Note the maximum Path Lead length that can be connected is 5m. Access to IP content requires a connection between the Ethernet port at the rear of the STU and the customer s Modem/Router connected to their internet service Powerline Adapter (PLA) A powerline device is a set of adaptors that allows the creation of an internet connection point within the customer s premises using the existing home electrical wiring. A powerline device can be used to connect a customer s Modem/Router to the STU. This connection enables dial back functionality as well as the ability to download content from Foxtel On Demand. Powerline networking uses the existing electrical wiring of a home to connect computers and Foxtel to the Network Router. The technology behind it allows for multiple signals to communicate without interruption. Issue /03/2015 Controlled Document No Unauthorised Copying Page 8 of 28

(Model NP204) (Model NP505F) (Model NP511F) The devices work on the same electrical circuit with the same circuit breaker. When they are on different circuit breakers they may not work PLA connection (NP204 & NP505F) A powerline device has two adaptors, they are both the same and there is no base or extender unit. The adaptors come already PAIRED in the box. STEP 1 Connect the supplied Patch lead into one adaptor and the other end into the Ethernet port of the Modem/Router. Then connect the adaptor into a power point. Where required, supply and fit a longer Cat6 Patch Lead. Issue /03/2015 Controlled Document No Unauthorised Copying Page 9 of 28

5.1.3 IP 5 Port Switch Due to an increasing number of customers who have a Modem/Router with only one available Ethernet Port, an IP Return Path cannot be completed. With the availability of an IP 5 Port Switch, this consumable device will provide the additional Ethernet Ports required to complete the IP Return Path solution in situations where: 1. Only one Ethernet Port is available on the Modem/Router or 2. All of the Modem/Router Ethernet Ports are used up IP 5 Port Switch connection The IP 5 Port Switch is a standalone consumable device with its own 240V power pack. It has 5 available Ethernet ports to increase connectivity options. STEP 1 - Confirm the operation of the customer s Modem/Router (pre-installation check). STEP 2 - Disconnect patch lead from customer s Modem/Router. STEP 3 - Plug the 240V power pack into a power point and connect the other end of the lead into the Switch s DC 9V socket. STEP 4 - Reconnect customer s Patch Lead to an available Ethernet port on the 5 port Switch. STEP 5 - Connect the Patch Lead provided with the Switch, between the customer s Modem/Router and an available Ethernet Port on the Switch. Issue /03/2015 Controlled Document No Unauthorised Copying Page 17 of 28

STEP 6 - Connect a new Patch Lead between the Switch s spare Ethernet Port and the STU s Ethernet Port (either via a direct Patch Lead or through a Powerline Adaptor) STEP 7 - Reconfirm the operation of the customer s Modem/Router (post- Installation check). STEP 8 - Confirm On Demand catalogue is available STU Connection scenarios Below are typical scenarios that may be encountered during an installation or upgrade. Scenario 1 - Single port Modem connected to customer s home computer Scenario 1 Solution - Single port Modem connected via a 5 Port Switch to the STU. Customers computer is now connected via the 5 port Switch, confirm the computer has connectivity during post installation check. Issue /03/2015 Controlled Document No Unauthorised Copying Page 18 of 28

Scenario 2 No available Ethernet ports on the Modem/Router There would be a number of different devices connected via the Ethernet ports of the Modem/Router Scenario 2 Solution Install a 5 Port Switch between the Modem/Router & the STU In this scenario whichever Ethernet lead was removed from the Modem/Router to connect the Switch, needs to be re-connected via the Switch to allow connectivity for that device. Confirm connectivity to this device during post installation check IP Wiring Installation This section details the process for installing an I.P connection (hard wire) to a residential customer for the purposes of enabling On Demand I.P. services. All cabling and termination work conducted for the purposes of installing an I.P service must comply with the following standards and installed by an ACMA registered cabler with Structured Cabling endorsement. AS/NZS 3080:2003 (incorporating Amendment No. 1) Telecommunications installations Generic cabling for commercial premises (ISO/IEC 11801:2002, MOD) AS/ACIF S008 - Requirements for authorised cabling products AS/ACIF S009 - Installation requirements for customer cabling (Wiring Rules) EIA/TIA 568A Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling/Wiring Standards Issue /03/2015 Controlled Document No Unauthorised Copying Page 19 of 28

General installation requirements Wiring to the Ethernet outlet must follow the regulations set out in AS/ACIF S008/S009 & AS/NZS 3080:2003 and must be completed by an ACMA registered cabler with Structured Cabling endorsement. In addition to the technical standards noted above, the following criteria must be applied to all cabling and termination work: Cable Type Ensure the cable complies with the requirements of AS/ACIF S008 and the Installer Product List i.e. use 4-pair, unshielded, category 6, 100Ω cable with 0.51 mm (24 AWG) solid conductors. Do not use any cable with stranded conductors Cable Length The channel link or total length of cable between the Ethernet outlet and the Modem/Router outlet including the Ethernet Patch Leads, should not exceed 100 metres (cable runs this long are unlikely in most dwellings) Cable Installation Note: Refer to Chapter 2 Common Installation Requirements for additional items. When installing category 6 cables: Make each run of cable as short and direct as possible (i.e. always run the cable directly from the Ethernet outlet back to the Modem/Router outlet). Run the cable within 2 metres of both the Foxtel Coaxial Outlet location and the Modem location (Wallplate or Skirting). Locate both the Ethernet & Modem/Router outlets at the same height as either the electrical plates or Foxtel Coaxial Outlet (Wallplate or Skirting). Where required both category 6 cable & coaxial cable can be run within the same conduit. Issue /03/2015 Controlled Document No Unauthorised Copying Page 20 of 28

Ethernet & Modem/Router outlet installation All components used must comply with the requirements of AS/ACIF S008 and the Installer Product List Ensure the RJ45 sockets are mounted with the contacts uppermost to minimise dust problems. Strip back sufficient cable sheath to terminate the conductors onto the RJ45 socket. Carefully separate the 4 wire pairs from the centre spline and cut the centre spline at an angle flush with the cable sheath. Ensure the cable sheath is positioned within 5mm of the RJ45 socket s housing. Terminate each socket in accordance with the 8P8C (RJ45) modular socket contact numbering and pair allocations figure and standard 4-pair cable colour codes and socket connections table shown below. Ensure the conductor pairs remain twisted right up to the termination, however, the pairs should not be untwisted for more than 10 mm. NOTE add an extra ½ twist if required to present the correct wires to the correct IDC slot. When attaching both the Ethernet & Modem/Router outlets, avoid kinking, trapping or straining of the cable. NOTE: The Ethernet outlet can be installed as a standalone outlet or by swapping out the existing Foxtel Coaxial outlet. Issue /03/2015 Controlled Document No Unauthorised Copying Page 21 of 28

Ethernet & Modem/Router outlet testing It is critical once the the new Ethernet & Modem/Router outlets have been installed to perform a wire map (continuity) test on the cable including the Ethernet Patch Leads between the customer s Modem and STU. A suitable network cable tester must be used to verify correct cable connections. i.e. open circuits, short circuits and mis-wiring including split pairs and reversals. NOTE: If the property is smartwired, the Customer Service Technician must confirm the RJ45 sockets are patched correctly to the Control Hub and test the wiring including the Ethernet Patch Leads using a suitable network cable tester as indicated above. A typical network cable tester and test set up are shown below. Issue /03/2015 Controlled Document No Unauthorised Copying Page 23 of 28

Interconnection requirements Once the Ethernet & Modem/Router outlets have been installed and tested to be correctly wired, the following steps must be taken to ensure correct interconnection to the STU and Modem (see also below set up diagram): STEP 1 - Connecting the STU Connect the Ethernet Patch Lead from the Ethernet outlet to the STU s RJ45 Ethernet port. STEP 2 - Connecting the Modem Connect the Ethernet Patch Lead from the Modem/Router outlet to the Modem s RJ45 Ethernet port. Important Note: Do NOT use CAT 5 Ethernet Patch Leads as doing so will drop the channel s performance Foxtel iqhd Issue /03/2015 Controlled Document No Unauthorised Copying Page 24 of 28
