1 1. Hardware: Installation of the PCMeasure Movement Sensor (30114) Connect the sensor to a serial or parallel port of the PC using one of the PCMeasure adaptors, or directly to the PCMeasure Ethernet Box. The RJ45 connector allows the sensor to be patched into other rooms. The RJ45 cable can be any length. The power supply to the sensor can be via the connecting cable from the PC (using the USB connector of the serial or parallel adaptor) or from the Ethernet Box. The sensor is ready for operation approx. 30 seconds after it is switched on. During these 30 seconds, the red LED is lit. 2. Software Configuration: Windows Open the menu item "Setup", "Hardware" to configure the software for the Movement Sensor. Select the applicable port: COM1 to COM4 or LPT1 to LPT3. As sensor type, select "potential-free contact switch contact". 3. Software Configuration: Linux Open the configuration file (pcmeasure4linux.cfg) to configure the software for the Movement Sensor. The settings depend on the port that the sensor is connected to. For example, if the COM1 port is used and the sensor is connected to port 2 of the adaptor: com1.2=04 Close and restart the software to activate the changes to the configuration file. 4. Ethernet Box Configuration Select the menu item "Setup", "Sensors" and configure the sensor as a "switch contact". 5. Testing the Sensor The displays on the sensor have the following meanings: Red light permanently lit, or with short interruptions: moving object detected. Red light - flashes regularly: no object, waiting time of 15 seconds is running down. Green light flashes: no object, normal condition. If an object is detected, the display in the PCMeasure software shows "100". If there is no object, the display shows "0". The sensor works passively, using infra-red. It has a range of 6-8 meters. 6. Sending Alerts The PCMeasure System can pass on alarms via s, SNMP traps, Syslog messages or SMS. Refer to the software instructions for details of how to configure the software to send these alerts. The function of the sensor is equivalent to that of a potential-free contact. 7. Maintenance The movement Sensor needs no maintenance. To remove dust, use a method that does not involve moisture, e.g. a dry cloth or vacuum cleaner.
2 PCMeasure Environment Sensor 1 (30106) 1. Install hardware: First step: Connect sensor direct to serial port (COM1-COM4) of your personal computer. Second step: Connect USB connector to a free USB Slot of your PC. This connection is only used to power the sensor, it also works with systems which not support USB Port, like Windows NT4. An option: you can use RJ45 connectors to extend distance between sensor and PC (up to 100 meters) 2. Configuration PCMeasure Software for Windows First click on menu entry Setup Hardware. Choose interface COM1, 2, 3 or 4. (The interface on which is sensor connected.) Make this entrys: Port 1: Sensor: Temperatur - Temperature Port 2: Sensor: Feuchte Humidity Port 3: Sensor: kein Sensor not in use Port 4: Sensor: kein Sensor not in use Please check that entrys for sensorcode are empty! 2. Ethernet Box Configuration Select the menu item "Setup", "Sensors" and configure the sensor as a "smoke sensor". 5. Testing and Operation of the Smoke Sensor During normal operation, the red LED in the test button of the Smoke Sensor flashes at approx. 50 second intervals. The display in the PCMeasure software or on the Ethernet Box shows "0". If the sensor detects smoke, or test gas, an acoustic warning sounds and the white LED on the sensor begins to light up. After approx. 15 seconds, the Display in the PCMeasure software or on the Ethernet Box shows "100". After the cause of the alarm has been removed, the red LED in the test button continues to flash for approx. 10 minutes. You can test the Smoke Sensor with a test gas or cigarette smoke. There is also a test button on the Smoke Sensor. Press the button (firmly!) down to the pressure point and hold it there for approx. 2 seconds: the Smoke Sensor sounds its acoustic warning and the red LED in the test button flashes 10 times at brief intervals. If the button is not pressed correctly down to its pressure point, an alarm may be triggered after a few seconds. The Smoke Sensor is highly sensitive, and movement of dust in the air may also trigger an alarm. 6. Sending Alerts The PCMeasure System can pass on alarms via s, SNMP traps, Syslog messages or SMS. Refer to the software instructions for details of how to configure the software to send these alerts. The function of the Smoke Sensor is equivalent to that of a potential-free contact. 6. As sensor type, select "potential-free contact switch contact". 3. Software Configuration: Linux Open the configuration file (pcmeasure4linux.cfg) to configure the software for the Water Sensor. The settings depend on the port that the sensor is connected to. For example, if the COM1 port is used and the sensor is connected to port 2 of the adaptor: com1.2=04 Close and restart the software to activate the changes to the configuration file. 4. Ethernet Box Configuration Select the menu item "Setup", "Sensors" and configure the sensor as a "switch contact. 5. Testing the Sensor When the water probe is dry, the green LED on the sensor casing will light. The display on the PC will show "0". When both the sensor's contacts are in water, the green LED should go off. The display on the PC should show "100". 6. Sending Alerts The PCMeasure System can pass on alarms via s, SNMP traps, Syslog messages or SMS. Refer to the software instructions for details of how to configure the software to send these alerts. The function of the sensor is equivalent to that of a potential-free contact. 7. Maintenance The Sensor needs no maintenance.
