5 General Instructions and Manufacturer Display Resources This Bluescape installation guide applies to the specific single touch display models listed below by each manufacturer. Any touch display model not listed should be verified by Bluescape to ensure its compatibility. Optika Business Collaboration Series - 55 / 65 / 85 UHD 3M Multi-Touch Display - 55 (C5567PW) MultiTaction - 55 Cell (MT555UTB) Planar UltraRes Series - UR8450 / UR8451 / UR9851 Sharp AQUOS BOARD Interactive Display System 80 (PN-L803C) IMPORTANT: Read all instructions first, and then begin your work. If at any time you are unsure of the step/function required, stop and call Bluescape Technical Support. Do not attempt to troubleshoot a problem without Bluescape guidance. Guidelines Regarding Power, Network and Cable Lengths POWER: Dedicated 15/20 AMP Circuit. 20 AMP preferred *** Bluescape controllers should remain powered on to receive periodic software updates. These software updates typically occur at 2:00 AM local time. Therefore, Bluescape requires the controller to be plugged into a power source that is active 24/7. For the purposes of energy conservation, the monitors can be and should be cycled off when not being used for periods exceeding 1 hour *** NETWORK: 5 15 Mbps network bandwidth for initial loading of workspace content. Reference Network Connectivity section below for additional network requirements. CABLE LENGTHS: The maximum cable length certified by Bluescape is 10 ft. The Bluescape controller should be positioned to accommodate this restriction. Alternatives for longer cable reaches are possible and should be discussed with Bluescape on a case-by-case basis. USB CONNECTIONS: USB cables for touch, INOGENI, sound, etc. can be connected to any USB slot on the Bluescape controller. However, it is recommended that you use the USB 3.0 slots (blue color) where possible as they provide better performance. USB 3.0 is required for the INOGENI DVI/HDMI to USB Converter. 5

7 Connecting Display to the Bluescape Controller Bluescape provides two 10 ft. DisplayPort cables with the controller. These are applicable for most display manufacturers. MultiTaction and 3M use a DVI cable for display. That cable is provided with the monitor packaging. The Table and Figure below summarize the proper connection for each display to the NVIDIA K5200 graphics card on the Bluescape controller. Input 2 DisplayPort corresponds to NVIDIA Slot 3. Input 4 DisplayPort corresponds to NVIDIA Slot 4. Connecting Touch to the Bluescape Controller All touch displays, except for a MultiTaction cell, pass touch events (finger and stylus recognition) from the display to the Bluescape controller via a standard USB 2.0 USB-A to USB-B cable. MultiTaction uses a different protocol called TUIO that passes touch events to the Bluescape controller via Ethernet cable. Bluescape provides a 10 ft. USB cable for touch. The Ethernet cable for MultiTaction is provided with the monitor packaging. MultiTaction Cell Connect the network cable from the display to the Belkin USB to Ethernet Adapter provided with the Bluescape controller. Connect the USB-A end of the Belkin adapter to any USB slot on the Bluescape controller. Bluescape recommends a USB slot on the top side of the controller. All Other Touch Displays Connect the USB-A end (rectangular) to one of the Bluescape controllers USB ports and connect the USB-B end (square) to the monitor touch port (usually labeled USB Touch ). 7

8 Connecting Audio to the Bluescape Controller Each Bluescape controller has a CHIPSET IDENTIFIER tag on the back of the controller just below the NVIDIA graphics card. This identifies the Motherboard Chipset. Follow the directions for your controller chipset to appropriately connect audio. Z170 Chipset A Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is provided with the controller. The Scarlett 2i2 connects to the Bluescape controller via a USB 2.0 USB-A to USB-B cable provided with the Scarlett 2i2. Connect the USB-A end to any USB slot on the controller and connect the USB-B to the back of the Scarlett 2i2. A ¼ male to 3.5mm female audio adapter is also provided. Plug the audio adapter into the headphone jack located on the front right corner. Connect the 3.5mm connector from the speakers to the audio adapter. Just above the headphone jack is the volume adjustment knob for sound output that may need to be adjusted accordingly. Z77 / Z87 / Z97 Chipset No Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is required and you may simply connect the 3.5mm connector from the speakers to the Line Out jack (Green) on the Bluescape controller. Additional Audio Notes In the case where a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is provided with a Z77 / Z87 / Z97 chipset, you may follow the instructions for the Z170 chipset. Connection to a custom AV integration from an outside contractor may require additional configuration and Bluescape should be included in that discussion. Connecting INOGENI DVIUSB to the Bluescape Controller The INOGENI HDMI/DVI-D to USB 3.0 Converter provides a connection for various in-room sharing solutions. These include plug-and-play from a laptop, Apple TV, Haworth Workware Wireless, etc. Bluescape provides a 3 ft. USB 3.0 USB-A to USB-B cable and INOGENI Converter. Connect the USB 3.0 USB-A end to one of the USB 3.0 slots (blue color) on the Bluescape controller. Connect the USB-B end to the INOGENI device. The 15 ft. HDMI cable provided connects to the INOGENI device and allows for flexibility to connect the in-room sharing solution away from the controller. Connecting Logitech C920 Camera to the Bluescape Controller The Logitech C920 camera is an optional item that can be purchased to provide the full benefit of Bluescape s MEET capability. Connect the USB-A end from the camera to any of the USB slots on the Bluescape controller. Once a MEET session is established you will have Microphone input and Video capability via the Logitech C920 camera. 8

9 Connecting Belkin USB to Ethernet Adapter to the Bluescape Controller Although the Belkin USB to Ethernet Adapter was discussed earlier, this section provides context for its use within the Bluescape ecosystem. When connected to a MultiTaction Cell, it allows touch events to be passed to the Bluescape controller. The Belkin USB Adapter also provides a connection point to the controller for troubleshooting and remote access support. The Belkin USB to Ethernet Adapter should be connected to the Bluescape controller at all times. Bluescape recommends using a USB slot on the top side of the Bluescape controller. Failure to connect the adapter will result in an extremely long boot-up time and in some cases not allow Bluescape Technical Support to properly and fully support our customers with troubleshooting.
