3 System Overview The video projection system has been designed to allow computer and video sources to project high quality, widescreen images. The default resolution for projected images is 1920 x 1080p. The dedicated PC and TV tuner installed in this system have been set for this resolution. Any device connecting to the wired VGA or HDMI inputs will also default to this resolution. The touchscreen graphics have been designed to streamline system functions, making control of the entire system seamless and easy to use. Many features of the system such as screen controls, projector power, input switching have been automated to single button presses in order to eliminate confusion while controlling the system. These rooms offer videoconferencing through Blue Jeans and Skype. Recordings will be offered through Panopto. To request a recording in these rooms, please capture@nursing.upenn.edu. 4 Source Page Controls The following are descriptions of the permanently docked functions of the touch panel that will be available on any page for selection. This screen will be referred to as the Source Page These are the program source selection buttons. The selected source will project onto the screen and the source s audio will be heard through the ceiling speakers. The currently selected source button will turn grey for visual feedback as the active source. When pressing the System Off button, a page will pop up to ask for confirmation that you want to power down the system. If you elect to turn the system off, the screen and will retract into the ceiling, and the projector will power down. Mic Levels adjust the volume for wireless, podium, and crowd mics. To be discussed in greater detail on p.5 Camera adjusts the zoom feature on the camera situated in the back of the room. To be discussed in greater detail on p.6 Video Mute is for blanking the projected image. When enabled, the button will turn red. If another source is selected, the video mute will be automatically disabled to avoid confusion. Audio Mute is for silencing program audio. When enabled, the button will turn red. 5 Sources There are three available sources: PC, Blu-ray, and Laptop. When selecting PC, the projector will automatically turn on and the screen will descend. If for any reason, the screen does not descend, or if you wish to manually raise it, it can be done using the Screen Control button on the Source Page or using the manual switch to the left of the screen. To plug in a USB device or thumb drive, use the ports located on the front of the PC. The PC is located inside the podium cabinet. There is one additional USB connector cord, on the right side of the connection plate. To use a laptop, first select the Laptop input. The VGA connection is located on the left side of the plate. Use this connection for older laptops that only support a VGA output. The HDMI connection is located in the middle of the plate. Use this connection for laptops that support an HDMI, DVI or DisplayPort output. Fagin Hall 203 & 213 A/V Manual: Version 1.0 Page 4

6 Microphones Each room is equipped with 5 microphones: 2 wireless, 1 podium, and 2 crowd mics. While the wireless and podium mics may be used for enhancing voice projection to the class, the crowd mics are primarily used for video conferencing. Adjust the volume of each mic by pressing up and down accordingly. The button below the volume levels is a mute feature, and it will appear red when that particular mic has been muted. Selecting Normalize All Mic Levels will unmute the two wireless and podium mics. Fagin Hall 203 & 213 A/V Manual: Version 1.0 Page 5

7 Camera To adjust the zoom on the camera, open the preferred video conferencing software and select Zoom In and Zoom Out. The following presets will adjust the camera as follows: Preset 1: wide angle shot of presenter and screen Preset 2: zoomed in on screen and podium (presenter close to screen or podium) Preset 3: close-up of podium (presenter at podium) You can still manually adjust the camera, even if you have selected a preset. 8 Extended Desktop Mode (for Powerpoint Presenter Mode) Powerpoint Presenter Mode is possible in 203 and 213 by selecting PC, followed by Extended Desktop. When enabled, the button will turn blue. You will see your notes on the main podium screen, while the audience will only see the presentation. Fagin Hall 203 & 213 A/V Manual: Version 1.0 Page 7

9 As a courtesy to your fellow instructors, please disable extended desktop by deselecting the button when you have finished. Alternatively, you can shut the system down (see next section). Fagin Hall 203 & 213 A/V Manual: Version 1.0 Page 8

10 System Shutdown Shutting down the system will prompt the user with a confirmation page, shown below. By pressing this button, the system will turn off the presentation system, projector, devices, etc. and raise the screen. Please remember to shut down completely after each session.
