1 Company Profile Introduction Wire Technology is part of an established international group with a reputation for high quality insulated copper and aluminium products on very short lead times. We provide both standard and emergency manufacturing options to an ever-growing list of clients around the world. Our reputation in the market place reflects our commitment to quality, service and to building successful partnerships with our Customers in the OEM and repair markets. The Management Team has wide ranging expertise in insulation applications and high voltage coil manufacture in the electric motor and transformer industry. We encourage Customers to take full advantage of this experience in the development of new products and systems. Wire Technology operates and Quality Management System approved to BS EN ISO 9002:1994 (Registered Firm FM 41385). The information contained in this brochure, and our Technical Data s provide an overview of our range of products and services that make Wire Technology the market leader for emergency insulated copper and aluminium wire and strip. The Products Wire Technology have made significant investments in its UK manufacturing facility, continually increasing capacity to meet the growing market demand for its products. The manufacturing process for both copper and aluminium conductor starts with the Drawing and Rolling of the continuous cast rod to the specified dimension. The bare conductor is then inspected and vacuum annealed in accordance with BS EN 13599:2002. Once the annealing cycle is complete, various insulation coverings can be applied: for example, Nomex, Mica Paper, Kapton and Glass. All enamelled insulated products are annealed in-line during the coating process. To meet special performance requirements, the enamel can be covered with an additional insulation such as Glass Fibre, Mica Paper or Glass Braid. Throughout the manufacturing process, the product is continually tested in accordance with the relevant British Standards and the results recorded against the Customer s specific order. Final inspection is conducted by our Quality Department prior to despatch of the finished goods. Page 1 of 17

8 Mica paper Mica is found in two grades, muscovite and uncalcinated phologopite. By reconstituting the mica into mica paper, this can then be bonded to various backing materials such as glass fabric or polyester film. By impregnating these with different resins, a mica tape is produced suitable for a range of high voltage applications. To Customer s requirements. 9 Polyimide Film (Kapton ) Kapton provides excellent electrical, mechanical and physical properties over a wide range of applications and operating temperatures. 10 Dacron Glass Dacron Glass is a 50/50 mix of high-grade polyester fibre yarn and pure glass thermally treated to bond to the conductor. The Dacron glass can be further impregnated with various types of varnishes or resins to meet Customer s specific requirements.
