Nexiot AG is not liable for any damage to property or personal injury that result from unintended use. Warning Label Due to a specific plastic used in the product housing, it may be possible for an Electrostatic Discharge to occur if improper handling of the device is performed. The warning ( Electrostatic Discharge hazard ) informs the users to read the following Instructions before performing any installation or maintenance related task. Importantly - this warning is relevant only if Nexiot Globehopper Ex device is cleaned inside a Hazardous area. Installation Instructions It is not permitted to perform an installation of Nexiot device from inside a Hazardous area. 6 Mounting the Crossmodal Ex Globehopper 1. Take the equipment and sensors to the place of installation. 2. To avoid mistakes, the sensors need to be fixed to the wagons in a sequential order, which means it might be necessary for the assembly operator to climb over the wagons to reach the other side. 3. Determine the installation position for the sensor based on the mounting guidelines (see below) 4. Hold the Globehopper Crossmodal Ex to the asset and drill two holes (6.5 mm diameter). Use the mounting holes of the Globehopper as stencil. 5. Fix the sensor onto the asset with two 6.4 mm blind rivets using a riveting machine. The sensor always needs to be mounted so that the solar panel is on left when viewed from the front. 6. Carry out the pairing of the sensor (linking the Globehopper sensor with the wagon) as per instructions starting on page 9. Mounting guidelines Recommendations for mounting the Crossmodal Ex Globehopper sensor. EA - Wagen FAC - Wagen Nexiot AG +41 (0) Prime Tower, Hardstrasse Zürich info@nexiot.ch -6-

Ua - Wagen Za - Wagen General recommendations about sensor performance The installation location of the sensor is very important for achieving the best performance. The GPS signal is very sensitive with regards to steel obstructions, therefore the mounting position should be chosen so that the sensor is not affected by such obstructions. GPS satellites are circling the earth in an orbit of about 20'000km and their signal needs to be able to reach the sensor. Every obstacle will make it harder for the signal to reach the device. Signal red - GSM location = unfavourable location Signal green - GPS location = favourable location Nexiot AG Avoid overhanging steel structures above or below the sensor. The top plate of the sensor should have an unobstructed view of the sky. Avoid overhanging structures in general Choose a place with as much sunlight as possible with as little exposure to brake dust as possible. Poor Reception Therefore, these rules should be applied to find the optimal mounting location: +41 (0) Prime Tower, Hardstrasse Zürich info@nexiot.ch -8-
Examples of unfavourable installation locations Shady, almost impossible to receive direct sunlight Very low, therefore exposed to a lot of brake dust Vertical installation Surrounded by steel, metal or other obstructions Nexiot Pairing App The Pairing App for Android allows users to scan sensors using NFC (Near Field Communication) with a smartphone in order to read and modify information about sensors and assets. To understand the concepts of the app, the following terms need to be understood: Devices are the individual sensors (Crossmodel Globehopper) Assets are wagons which will be tracked by the sensors IDs are unique identifiers to identify sensors and assets General The Pairing App needs internet access for the whole duration it is in use, in order to verify the user and their permissions and to exchange asset and sensor data with our servers. Therefore the smartphone needs to be logged in to a wireless network or be equipped with a sim card which has mobile data enabled. Please be advised that the quality of the internet connection depends on the signal reception at the place of installation; the app cannot be used at a location without or with insufficient internet connection. If the app gives error messages like «Could not contact server» or «Upload failed» this means that there is insufficient internet connection at the location. Pairing procedure A central application of the app is the «Pairing» which means linking the device (sensor) with the asset (wagon). This allows us to correlate sensor data of the device to the physical asset (the wagon). Nexiot AG +41 (0) Prime Tower, Hardstrasse Zürich info@nexiot.ch -9-
1. Login The first step for pairing is to >Login< to the app using your username and password. The user account allows access and modification of the device and asset data. Depending on the permission level of the account, different access rights are available. In the top field (Symbol ) the username is inputted and in the lower field (Symbol ) the password is inputted. 2. NFC Scan After logging in, there is a prompt to perform an NFC scan. The user needs to place their smartphone on top of device at the location where the logo (shown in the app) is visible, and if necessary move the smartphone a few centimetres in each direction. As soon as the sensor is recognised, the app will confirm the scan via a signal tone and continue to the next screen. Note: The smartphone scans the Crossmodal Ex Globehopper using NFC radio communication which only has a range of a few centimetres. Therefore the smartphone needs to placed directly on the sensor. 3. Pairing Asset-Information (pared) After the scan, the app will show information about the asset (if it is already paired). If it is not currently paired >unpaired<, it can be paired using the «Pair» button which is shown at the bottom of the screen. This will initiate the pairing process (as described below) Nexiot AG +41 (0) Prime Tower, Hardstrasse Zürich info@nexiot.ch -10-
4. Picture of device mounting location The first step of pairing is to take a picture of the mounting location of the sensor on the wagon. To focus the cameras view (to allow a sharp and clear picture to be taken) touch the relevant part of the picture in the preview screen of the smartphone app. Take a photo by pressing the button with the camera symbol on the bottom right part of the screen. You can either confirm «OK» or retake another picture using the dialog option «Try Again» 5. Photo of the wagon number After taking the photo of the device location the next step is to take a photo of the wagon number. The process for taking the picture is the same as in the previous step. Please make sure the wagon number is clearly visible and readable, the picture should be taken while standing right in front of the wagon not from the side. If the wagon number is not readable, try to take another picture of it. 6. Enter wagon number After taking these two pictures, the wagon number needs to be entered manually into the smartphone app. The button «OK» to confirm the wagon number will only be available after all 12 characters of the wagon number have been entered and it confirms to the UIC checksum. Nexiot AG +41 (0) Prime Tower, Hardstrasse Zürich info@nexiot.ch -11-
7. Pairing confirmation After completing the three previous steps, the message «Pairing complete» will be shown. In case of an error, an error message will be shown to the user. Most errors are caused by missing or unstable internet connection. Using the button «Try again» the upload can be initiated again, the pairing process can be aborted using the «Cancel» button. 8. Asset information (paired devices) Either after successfully pairing a device or after scanning an already paired device, the app will show information about the asset. «Asset name» is the name of the asset (in this case the wagon number), «Asset/ Device ID» are unique identifiers for asset and device. Using the «Unpair» -button the device can be decoupled from the asset, for example if the device is removed from the wagon. After unpairing, the device can be paired again using the default procedure. The «Photo» button can be used to make another photo of the wagon. "Unpairing" needs to be confirmed by the user. The asset will continue to be available in our system, as long as it s unpaired it will have no position or sensor data available. As with the pairing, the unpairing of the device will be confirmed on the app. «Asset-Information (unpaired)» Nexiot AG +41 (0) Prime Tower, Hardstrasse Zürich info@nexiot.ch -12-
