2 Introduction This guide describes the important features and options you need to know before using your tracking device. Tracking devices covered in this document are the T7 and T9 units. You may notice that some features are not activated on your login account this may depend on your administration level and/or the specific situations you are using the device. If in doubt, please ask your sales agent for assistance and to check your setup options. Getting the setup correct is essential to ensure you have the best experience with this device. Activating your device When you receive your tracking device, you need to make sure it has been activated. To activate your device, place a strong magnet over the Activate symbol for a few seconds until the green LED starts flashing. The setup process can take up to 30 minutes, and during that time, the device should be placed with a clear view to the sky (so the first GPS position can be acquired). Coverage Communication This device uses GSM or 3G to communicate information back to the online system. The built-in SIM card (similar to what is in a cell phone) will work almost anywhere in the world where there is cell phone coverage. The maximum distance from a cell tower is approximately 30km which means it will not be possible to receive data from the device when on open sea or otherwise isolated areas. In New Zealand, Vodafone (pre-set connection provider used by your device) has cellular coverage on all major roads allowing real-time tracking of your resources or hives while on the move. The device can also log positions when it does not have access to cellular coverage, and will automatically upload the position history when next in cellular coverage (up to 100 positions can be stored). GPS The global positioning system (GPS) will work in most places around the world. Connection is achieved when the device can see multiple satellites in the sky. If a GPS fix cannot be acquired for some reason (then the device is indoors or valleys with steep hills), the device will use cell tower

3 triangulation as a fall-back system to estimate its position. This allows a position to be logged without GPS, however it won t have the same accuracy as a position attained by GPS. Positioning your device The device can be fastened with adhesive foam tape or with two screws to almost any surface. When placing the device you should consider the following: If placed indoors under a metal roof, a GPS fix may not be possible If placed inside a metal box, the GSM signal will degrade significantly and no GPS fix will be possible Place the device so is unlikely to be hit by obstacles If installing in a hive, we recommend the following placement: Under the bottom board. Fixed to a frame in the board box (preferably one of the outer frames) Fixed to the bottom of the top feeder under the lid (GPS and GSM will still work in most scenarios) Logging in First you ll receive an from server@trusted.dk with the subject Welcome to Trusted.dk. In this you are given your username and a temporary password. The also includes instructions to go to were you can change your password.

4 The Map Online software suite When logged in, you will see a map. The map shows you the last reported position of all of your devices in one easy view. Click on any of the device markers to be show a summary of the selected device. As show below. To see the tracked path of a device, click the show trail (last 10 positions) to see the last 10 reported positions on any device.

5 Device setup Under the heading units in the software suite, select the device you would like to edit setting. By default, you will be taken to the device Edit page. Under the device edit page, you can also give the device a name, here we have selected the device we named MyApiary Tracker Demo. What should the wakeup interval be? The default wakeup interval (report schedule) is set to 24 hours. This means the device will report its location once per day. This can be set higher and lower. Before lowering the interval, you should consider that battery-operated devices have a limited reporting lifetime and this will decrease significantly when you increase the reporting period. For hive tracking we recommend the interval be set to 48 hours or fortnightly. This will give the longest device battery life time of at least 5 years (assuming the device is stationary most of the year). When to use the motion interval You tracking device has a built-in motion sensor that can be used to decrease the wake up interval while in motion. This makes good sense if you require short interval reporting when the devices is in motion, but most often your device stationary. An example is an asset or a hive that is placed in a location and is occasionally moved to another location or - or moves when stolen. When in motion, the device will send you an alert, if the corresponding alarm is turned on. Keeping in mind battery life we recommend that that assets that move regularly (more than once or twice a day) do not have the motion interval sensor activated. When to use LOG When enabled, the device can hold up to 100 position reports. The LOG can be used to store acquired GPS positions when the device is out of cellular coverage areas and where historic data is important. An example could be a device that is placed on-board a vessel that is in the open ocean out of cell phone coverage, and where the sailed route is important to document. The LOG feature can also be used to fill in gaps in the tacking trail when the device passes in and out of remote areas. The LOG features is disabled by default and can be enabled at the bottom of the device setting page. Enabling LOG has a small impact on battery life.

6 Alarms Setting For each enabled alarm, (above we have enabled the motion alarm) you will receive an notifying you that the enabled alarm has been triggered. Below is an example of an alert for a motion alarm. The will contain the lasted reported position for the device. Alarms for devices that move often For tracking an asset that moves often or for long periods of time, like a forklift in a yard or a boat on a mooring or trailer, consider using the Geo Lock or New Position alarms. This will stop you from receiving an every time the asset moves and will help extend battery life. Geo Lock Using the Geo Lock feature, you can set an electronic perimeter for your assets. When enabling the Geo Lock alarm, you will be presented with a map. Place the pin on your specific location. If the asset moves more than 10km from the pin position you will be alerted my .

7 Device History Under device setup, you can also see the device history. Along the top of the page there will be the tabs, Map Edit Data Events Audit Map Edit Data Events Audit Position of the selected unit only. Device setting page. Selecting the Data tab; Under Positions, you can select up to 100 position reports or select all, and display the device motion trail on the map.

8 Recommended Settings The below settings are recommended based on a device usage scenario for optimal battery life and the best utilisation for your specific application. Hive Recommended settings for a hive that is placed in a remote location. Forklift / Trailer Boat Recommended settings for a forklift operating in a yard or boat parked in a yard. Trailer Recommended setting for a trailer that is mobile often.
