2 What Is the CK1 Multi-Dock? The multi-dock is an accessory for the CK1 Handheld Computer. You can use the multi-dock to: Power up to four CK1s. Charge the battery in up to four CK1s. Transfer data and applications through a USB connection to a PC. Installing the Multi-Dock You may need additional information when working with the multi-dock and CK1 in a data collection system. Download and install a BM-series driver from to your PC. Simply download the appropriate.zip file, and extract it to a folder on your PC. If you then check your Device Manager (Control Panel of Windows), after having connected your MultiDock to your PC, you should see the change immediately, as below: Place the multi-dock on a flat, stable, and clean surface that is within 1.5 m (5 ft) of an AC outlet. Connect the AC power supply to the power connector on the back of the multi-dock, and then connect the power supply to an AC power outlet.

3 The Multi-Dock and MCL-Link MultiCom MCL Link is the MCL Communications Server software that monitors a single serial Port MCL Link Multicom is the MCL Communications Server software that monitors a number of serial ports at the same time on the same PC. MCL Link Multicom is supplied with support for 4 Com Ports or 8 Com ports depending on the license you purchase. The installation package is the same; it is the license that determines the number of instances you may run. To install the software, download MCL Link from the relevant web page ( Using MCL Link in a Deployment It may be that you decide to have only one of the 4 docks suitable for uploading and downloading information, in which case only an MCL-Link single COM license is required. The other docks will simply function as charging and terminal storage docks. However, should you wish to use all docks of the cradle as concurrent bi-directional communication docks then you will need an MCL-Link Multicom license. To configure your follow Multicom installation, follow the 4 simple steps below: 1. Install MCL-Link on your machine and activate it using your MCL-Link MultiCom License you have purchased. 2. When installed, MCL-Link will place a shortcut on your desktop; copy and paste this shortcut as many times (up to 8!) as you have Terminals you wish to communicate simultaneously with. 3. In the properties of each of these shortcuts, modify the Target to add the instance argument ( - 1, -2 ), as follows: C:\MCL3\LINK\MCLLINK.EXE should become C:\MCL3\LINK\MCLLINK.EXE -1. For the first Instance of MCL-Link, you should thus add a space, then -1 after MCLLINK.EXE. For Instance 2, you should add a space, then -2, etc (see below).

4 4. Open each Instance and configure Link to communicate with the COM Port corresponding to the dock in the MultiDock Cradle in which the CK1 is placed. In other words, each dock in the Cradle can be assigned a particular instance of Link (see picture below). You will see that each open instance of Link ( ) has a different COM Port assigned to it, thus corresponding with the COM Port to which each dock in the MultiDock has been assigned. Once these 4 steps have been completed, you are ready to make full use of your CK1 MultiDock within MCL-Link, thereby communicating concurrently with up to 8 (2 MultiDocks) CK1s at a time. Light Color Description Light Color Description Communications Off The CK1 in the bay is not communicating. Make sure the USB cable is connected properly and the CK1 is configured properly. Flashing red The CK1 in the bay is communicating with the PC. Charge Red The multi-dock is charging the battery. Green The battery is fully charged.

5 Power Off The multi-dock is not receiving power. Make sure the AC power supply is connected properly. Green The multi-dock is connected to AC power and is ready to charge.
