1 BULLETIN: TSB-Ehubo DATE: November 17, 2017 SUBJECT: OBD-II BLUETOOTH PAIRING (DONGLE) DURING INSTALLATION PRODUCT / SYSTEM: EHUBO2 (North America only) BACKGROUND: Using the On-board Diagnostics (OBD-II) Bluetooth connection on the Ehubo allows light vehicles to use the EROAD Electronic Logging Device (ELD) technology. A dongle provides the connection to the Engine Control Module (ECM) and plugs into the OBD-II port. It communicates with the Ehubo over Bluetooth. The OBD-II dongle receives power and ground from the OBD-II connection in the vehicle. Ignition installation is accomplished using the three-wire installation procedure. The OBD-II dongle receives speed and engine state from the vehicle ECM. The spiral cable is the main power cable attached to the Ehubo. Odometer and engine hours are populated on the Ehubo via other sources, as allowed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). INSTALLING THE EHUBO WIRELESS OBD-II ADAPTER: Follow these instructions if you are installing the Ehubo into a lighter class vehicle (class 1-6) with an OBD-II diagnostic connector shown below Notes: The engine must be turned off prior to installing the Ehubo. The power supply must not be taken from any anti-lock braking system (ABS) or electronic braking system (EBS). 01 EROAD TSB-Ehubo eroad.com

2 1. Connect the 10-way connector (Q) on the extendable cable (N) to the corresponding connector on the Ehubo wiring harness (E). Secure with the cable clamp (J) included in your cable kit. Note: See the diagram on the next page. 2. Connect the black wire on the Ehubo wiring harness (E) to an appropriate grounding location that is fit for that purpose. 3. Connect the red wire on the wiring harness to the in-line 2A fuse (D) (included), and then to a permanent power source. 4. Connect the yellow wire to an in-line fuse (D), and then to the engine or ignition switched power source. Do not connect it to an accessory wire. Note: Refer to the Install Guide if additional inputs are required. 5. Store all unused wires neatly, insulated, and secured using cable ties. Reinstall any dashboard pieces or panels removed during installation. Remove the screen protection film from the Ehubo display screen. 6. Insert the EROAD OBD-II wireless adapter into to the OBD-II port of the vehicle (X), ensuring that it is fully seated in position. 7. Finalize the installation by following the on-screen instructions, as described in the next section. After the checks are successfully completed, the Pending Assignment, or the Ehubo home screen is displayed (if the unit is assigned to a vehicle). Ensure that the driver-required manual and visor cards are in the vehicle. When the vehicle is off, the Ehubo shuts down to a lower power mode and draws a very small current from the vehicle supply. Remove the Ehubo permanent power fuse if the vehicle is in storage or parked for more than a month to avoid discharging the vehicle battery. 02 EROAD TSB-Ehubo eroad.com

4 USING THE INSTALLATION WIZARD The following instructions apply to using the EROAD OBD-II Installation Wizard. Note: You must re-run the installation wizard by following the instructions in the appendix of this document only if the Ehubo was previously installed without the OBD-II device. 1. Follow the on-screen prompts, and select an ECM connected installation when prompted. 2. Tap Yes, when prompted about using an EROAD OBD-II wireless device. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions shown below. 4. Tap the Next button. 04 EROAD TSB-Ehubo eroad.com

5 The installation wizard searches for the adapter. Please wait while the wizard finishes this step. You can tap the Cancel button during this step if you want to stop the installation. The Success screen displays when the EROAD OBD-II adapter is successfully paired. 5. Tap the Continue button and follow the instructions to finish the installation. 05 EROAD TSB-Ehubo eroad.com

6 TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS AND PIN-OUT DIAGRAM: The OBD-II installation might fail if the OBD-II adapter is not inserted properly into the OBD-II port before tapping the Pairing button. Tap the Try Again button if this occurs. and repeat steps 1-4 above. The following error message occurs if there are more than one OBD-II adapter detected while the installation wizard is running. Press and hold the EROAD logo on the top left corner of the Home screen for seven seconds to access the Diagnostics Mode screen. Alternatively, press and hold Login if no one has logged into the Ehubo. 2. Tap Install Wizard once the Diagnostics Mode screen appears. 07 EROAD TSB-Ehubo eroad.com

8 ELD INSTALL TROUBLESHOOTING (US) OBD-II Connection Issue or Symptom Cause Resolution No power, no Green LED on Ehubo Green LED lit, but screen remains blank No lights showing on OBD-II device OBD-II device does not pair successfully Incorrect or incomplete power connection Missing ignition connection Installation wizard not run yet Faulty or non-standard OBD-II port Problem with the installation sequence Check that Permanent Power has been connected correctly and there is 12-24V when the key is in the OFF, ON and RUN positions Check that the fuse inline is connected per the installation instructions and the 2A fuse is inserted Ensure that you have a good ground connection connected to the black wire Check that Switched Power has been connected correctly and there is 12-24V when the key is in the ON and RUN positions. Ensure that there are 0V when the key is in the OFF position Check that the fuse inline is connected per the installation instructions and the 2A fuse is inserted You may need to tap on the screen to wake up the unit if the installation wizard has not yet been run Ensure that there is 12V on the OBD-II connector between pins 16 and 4.
