4 Manual TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION The series are digital pressure transmitters to measure gauge, absolute (vacuum) or overpressure. Available are measuring full scale ranges from 100 mbar up to 1000 bar. Their robust and compact design qualifies them for the usage under adverse conditions. Beneath the manifold of different pressure connections there are the interfaces RS-232C and RS-485 chooseable. View: soldering side MOUNTING Safety Instructions Mounting and demounting by competent personnel only! Before starting work make sure that the measurement point is not under pressure. Make sure that no dangerous gases (poisonous, suffocative or inflammable) can discharge from the measurement point. Make sure that pressure range and supply voltage of the sensor are appropriate for your application. Required Tools Open-end wrench 27 mm Mounting Place Avoid mounting near interference sources (motors, pumps, valves, transmitters etc.) and heat sources - excessive vibrations or pressure peaks can corrupt the measuring signal or damage the sensor. Mount pressure sensors with measuring range < 1 bar with the process connector pointing downwards because they are calibrated in this orientation. Mounting the Pressure Sensor Clean the mounting hole. Remove the yellow protective cap from the sensor. Tighten the pressure sensor with approx. 37 Nm. 6 Manual COMMUNICATION WITH THE DIGITAL TRANSMITTER RS232 Interface Communication with the (digital transmitter) is accomplished via a RS232 interface at 4800 or 9600 Baud, 8 bit, no parity, 1 stop bit. Only signal lines RxD, TxD and GND are used without software handshake. Commands to the are transmitted as ASCII strings and are terminated with a carriage return (<cr>, ASCII13). All control characters (< ASCII32) are ignored with the exception of <cr>. acknowledgements are also terminated with a <cr>. Each command to the results in an acknowledgement. Commands which do not result in a return parameter are confirmed by a * and <cr>. Commands which can not be interpreted by the are acknowledged by a # and <cr>. Consecutive commands are separated by delimiters. Legal delimiters are: colon, comma, period, blank. Only the first four characters of a command are significant and no differentiation is made between upper case and lower case characters. The following commands are thus identical: PRES:ZERO:1234<cr> pressure zero 1234<cr> pres,zero,1234<cr> In the description of the commands which follows (section 2), the significant characters are represented in capital letters. Communication with the connected to a RS232 interface can be established via any PC with the assistance of a terminal program. As an example, settings are described for the Hyper Terminal program (a Windows 95/98 option in the Accessories folder). HyperTerminal settings for Windows 95/98 1. 7 Manual RS485 Interface The is controlled by a bus capable RS485 interface. It is possible to link up to 31 (absolute- and gauge pressure sensors with different measuring ranges) together at the same time. The interface uses a differential two-wire signal (signal lines +RS485 and RS485) for data transmission at 4800 or 9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit. The commands for the are embedded into ASCII strings being terminated by a carriage return (<cr>, ASCII 13). All control characters (ASCII value less than 32) except <cr> are ignored. For every command sent to the an acknowledgement also terminated by <cr> is sent back. Composite commands have a separator. Allowed separators are colon, comma, point and space. Only the first four characters of a command are significant. Upper or lower case makes no difference, but the following description of the commands presents the significant characters in upper case. Considering also an address because of bus capable RS485 interface and a check sum to improve safety, the real commands are embedded into additional control characters (the quotes are not to be entered): Command to > AA Command : CC <cr> with the following key: Start character: > Address: AA Hexadecimal value of range 00 to FF (0 to 255). Is used to identify the sensor and is adjustable. Command: string from the list of commands Check sum: CC Hexadecimal value of range 00 to FF. The ASCII values of all characters between the start character and the check sum are summed up. Then the last two digits of the hexadecimal representation of this value are transmitted as check sum. Reply of Acknowledgement ( Data ) * AA * ( : CC) <cr> with the following key: Confirmation character Acknowledgement If the command could be interpreted a * is sent, if not a # is sent. Data: ( Data ) Only if the command could be interpreted data is sent back. Address: AA Confer Command to Check sum: ( : CC) The check sum is only calculated from the data and thus only exists if data is sent back. A separator is sent before the check sum. Reads the engineering unit of the pressure (e.g. mbar, mws) Read out the current pressure Read out the current temperature Integration mode For the pressure measurement one of three integration types can be selected: Simple average: Each pressure value returned is the average of N current INMO:PRES:1:<N> measurements (N=1 to 32000). Moving average: A pressure value returned is the average of 2(N-1) measurements (N=1 INMO_PRES:2:<N> to 7). The next value returned is calculated by removing the first value of these measurements and considering the value of the next (new) Weighted average: INMO:PRES:3:<N> Integration mode: INMO:PRES? measurement instead of it. Works like moving average, but before calculating the average the value of every pressure measurement is multiplied by a weighting factor of 1/2(N-1) (N=1 to 7). 9 Manual Zero pressure Zero pressure can be adjusted independently from the actual calibration. Enter zero pressure: PRES:ZERO <-32, ,000> Query zero pressure: PRES:ZERO? Note: The entered value is subtracted from the actual pressure measurement. Zero pressure is entered without a decimal point. Example: PRES? Read the pressure 11.5 measures 11.5 mbar PRES:ZERO 115 is calibrated to zero for 11.5 mbar PRES? Read the pressure 0.0 measures 0 mbar Miscellaneous IDN? Read out an identification string.
