1 Relay Outputs The Exp-007 and Exp-008 are internal peripherals for use with the Ex3000 gas extinguishing system. The units are used to expand the number of outputs available on the system either local to the control panel or remotely (in Remote Status Indicator units). The Exp-007 unit connects directly to Remote Status Indicator units to provide 2 programmable 1-Amp rated, volt free, clean contact outputs. The Exp-008 unit connects directly to the EX3001 control panel to provide 8 programmable 1-Amp rated, volt free, clean contact outputs. The operation of each output can be individually assigned in the control panel commissioning process. This includes functions such as stage-1, stage-2, manual-only mode, released, on-hold etc. etc. In addition to this, each output can be inverted such that it is in the normally energised state. Features Expand the number of outputs on an EX3000 extinguishing system. Two outputs can be added to a Remote Status Indicator (using the Exp-007) and 8 outputs can be added to the EX3001 control panel (using the Exp-008). The unit is easily installed within the corresponding enclosure using dedicated fixing points. Connection to the controlling PCB is made through a simple push-fit connection. Each output can be independently programmed to any one of the available output functions including a further option to invert the output, leaving it normally energised.

3 Table of Contents Page 1 MOUNTING INTERNAL WIRING EXTERNAL WIRING Mounting Exp-007 Throughout the installation process, power should be removed from the Remote Status Indicator (disconnect the incoming 24V supply). The card mounts on four pillars located in the rear of the Remote Status Indicator Enclosure. Access is gained to the pillars by removing the fascia plate remove the two screws on either side and remove the plate. Use the four M3 screws supplied to securely affix the card to the mounting pillars. For further details on the location of the pillars, please refer to the Remote Status Indicator Manual. 2 Internal Wiring Exp-007 Use the supplied 4-way single in line ribbon cable to connect the relay card, via the latched header PL2, to the corresponding 4-way latched header on the Remote Status Indicator card (fixed to the fasciaplate, previously removed). Re-fit the fascia plate. Exp-008 Throughout the installation process, power should be removed from the Control Panel (disconnect both the mains supply and the batteries). The card mounts on four pillars located in the rear of the Control Panel Enclosure to the right of the power supply. Access is gained to the pillars by removing the fascia plate loosen the two screws on either side then lift and remove the plate (first detaching any connectors/ field wiring). Use the four M3 screws supplied to securely affix the card to the mounting pillars. For further details on the location of the pillars, please refer to the Control Panel Manual. Exp-008 Use the supplied 10-way single in line ribbon cable to connect the relay card, via the latched header PL1, to the 10-way latched header on the base card (fixed to the fascia-plate, previously removed). Re-fit the fascia plate. 3

4 3 External Wiring The picture below shows the terminal block positions for each relay output. Relay positions 1 and 2 provide NO / NC changeover contacts. Relay positions 3 8 provide NO contacts only (Exp-008 Only). Install cables suitable for the application and degree of fire protection required. These circuits are SELV type. To maintain electrical integrity of the SELV wiring on the output lines all SELV wiring should be segregated from the LV mains wiring and be wired using cable with insulation suitable for the application. To minimise the effects of EMC interference all data wiring circuits should be wired with a twisted pair of conductors with a cross sectional area suitable for the loading conditions. RELAY RELAY 1 2 COM NC NO COM NC NO RELAY RELAY RELAY RELAY RELAY RELAY COM NO COM NO COM NO COM NO COM NO COM NO In areas where cabling may come into contact with high frequency interference, such as portable radio transceivers etc. the output wiring cable should be of a twisted pair construction within an overall screen. The screen should be terminated to one of the dedicated earth terminals / studs available in the panel (refer to panel manual for positions). NB: Minimum / Maximum cable size for all connections is limited to 0.35mm² / 2.5mm² (22-14AWG). All electrical wiring installation work should be carried out in accordance with the code of practice applicable in the country of installation. 4
