4 1. Introduction 1.1. General Landis & Staefa Division 3 This document is a guide to the cabling connections; software installation and commissioning of the USS Protocol data link between the Siemens Invertor units and the Landis & Staefa PRV2 building process station. 5 4 2. Hardware 2.1. Micromaster Invertors - Siemens Invertors A maximum of 31 Invertors may be connected 2.2. Hardware Settings The only hardware settings required in the system configuration shown in section 2.1. above is the NARC RS232 to RS485 signal converter. Located in the middle of the main PCB board inside the NARC is a bank of 4 DIP switches which set the timing element for the TX and RX changeover. For correct operation of the NARC in this application, the switch bank has to be set as detailed below:- Sw 1 - Set OPEN Sw 2 - Set CLOSED Sw 3 - Set OPEN Sw 4 - Set OPEN 2.3. Power Connections BPS The BPS is powered from a local transformer with 24 Volt AC supply connected to terminals G (System live) and G0 (System neutral).

6 5 Landis & Staefa Division NARC The NARC is powered from a local transformer with 24 Volt AC supply, which can be the same supply as the BPS Data Communication Connections BPS to NARC Communication Ports BPS - TY1 or TY2 (Selectable) - Female 25 Pin D connector. Screw Terminals Term. 3 2 Signal RS2 (+ve) RS1 (- ve) Invertor 1 1 RSG 4 Screen Invertor Hardware Connection The MicroMaster has a two-wire RS485 interface with two terminals, A & B. Terminal A is the positive level of the RS485 and B the negative level. If the master unit has a four wire connection, connect the positive receive and the positive transmit together, and the negative receive and negative transmit together.

7 Then connect the positive wire to terminal A on each drive and the negative wire to terminal B on each drive Data Transmission Parameters The transmission speed of the data link is 9600 baud; with 8 bit binary format; one stop bit and even parity Drive Parameter Configuration Before communication can take place, the following parameters must be configured for each of the Micromaster ECO drives on the network, P3 = 3 All parameters can be read and written. (Micromaster ECO Only) P700[0] = 5 Enable remote on/off switching, if not required set to 0 P1000[0] = 5 P2009[0] = 0 P2010[0] = 6 Enables remote setpoint changing, if not required set as needed USS Normalisation is disabled Drive baud rate for USS. The baud rate must be the same for all drives P2011[0] = 1-31 This is the drives slave address for USS. Each drive on the bus must have a different address, otherwise bus communication will fail on the USS bus.

TSK254 : -- Power Return Task Automatic Restart of Tasks after power failure 3.2 TTYx Configuration on the PRV2.0 The application task (TSK149) contains the information, which TTY interface on the PRV2.00 is used for the connection to the NARC. The default value is TTY1. In case there is a modem on TTY1, which uses the hardware handshaking change this value to 2 and connect the NARC to TTY2. 10 9 3.4 Running The Software To start the software run TASK 150 this will automatically start all tasks that are required to run. This will automatically generate all points that are required for this interface. 3.5 Diagnostics Note: Running the diagnostics will slow down the communications significantly For Task diagnostics set the value of [151]DG = to the number of the diagnostic you require: - 0 = No diagnostics 1 = Technical Diagnostics (For Experts Only) 2 = Read Diagnostics To turn diagnostics off set [151]DG=0 For Technical Diagnostics set [151]DG=1 For read set [151]DG= Explanation of read diagnostics a) Requesting Information (DI Points) Drive=1 par=13 val=5000 a b c Key a = Invertor address b = Parameter read c = Raw data read Invertor Report To view a report on an individual invertor s values set the value of G in the following statement = to 80 + the number of the invertor you want to see the values of i.e. SYR /G=81 will provide a report of Invertor no.1 i.e. SYR /G=85 will provide a report of Invertor no Notes on characteristics of Siemens Invertor interface software There is a point which will tell you whether the PRV2 is communicating with the invertor. If comm. s fails to a drive then it is only checked to see if it is available again when the rpm is read from the invertor. The comm. s is slowed down by approximately 2 seconds a drive for each drive that is not communicating If the drive is stopped locally it must be turned off and then back on again via the comm. s link before the drive will start again.

11 3.7 Text Customisation Landis & Staefa Division 10 The texts that are assigned are based on the UK market area texts.
