3 Application manual - lighting controllers Sports halls High sports performance and undisturbed sporting pleasure need good light for players and spectators alike. Special luminaires for sports halls and gymnasiums achieve very high lighting performance even in large rooms. The introduction of LED technology - in the meantime high performance - is a considerable aid to the requirements for these lighting systems. Coupled with modern light management, the best possible conditions have been put in place to use them even more energy-efficiently. Depending on the operational requirements for sports halls, which are often used as multipurpose facilities, Regiolux provides both custom light management solutions as well as sophisticated pre-assembled systems. Example 1: 3-zone sports hall Requirements: Daylight-dependent control per hall zone with 3 selectable lighting setpoints. 4 System diagram The Regiolux sports halls controller is also available as an option for max. 128 DALI-ECG/ED per hall zone. 2 DALI lines per hall are available in each case for a maximum of 64 DALI devices. The sensors and DALI lines must be installed with a low-voltage cable (e.g. NYM) due to the operating voltages involved. The operating panels and position switches can be run by using an extra-low-voltage line (e. g. JY(St)Y). Lines for the voltage supply to the luminaires and the controller are not shown. Page4

5 Function and system description Regiolux sports hall controller for 3-zone sports halls (max. 192 ECG/ED) The lighting system is controlled by a central controller installed in the control cabinet. The luminaires are operated using 3 DALI lines. Up to 64 DALI-ECG/ED can be operated on each DALI line. As a result, the luminaires of a hall zone are permanently assigned to a group and do not have to be separately identified and grouped using the software as is typical for DALI. A daylight- and motion-dependent control is provided as usage-oriented energy-saving measure. A combination of light sensor and motion sensor is used for each hall zone. 3 adjustable setpoints are possible for daylight control, e. g. 600 lux, 400 lux and 200 lux. As the amount of daylight increases, the lighting is dimmed more and more and will switch off once there is a sufficient amount of daylight. If the level of light falls, the lighting system switches on again. In full-automatic mode, the motion sensor switches on the lighting when someone enters the hall. The light value is controlled depending on the preselected setpoint. As soon as no more motion is detected, the light switches off again after the configurable delay time has elapsed. In semi-automatic mode, the lighting must be switched on at the push buttons for setpoint preselection. Switch-off takes place automatically after no further motion is detected and after the set delay time has elapsed. The respective hall zones are controlled by calling the setpoints, via a control element (push button or switch) installed on-site. If no setpoint is invoked, the appropriate area of the system will remain blocked; even in full automatic mode. The position of the partition walls is interrogated using an on-site position switch. As soon as one of the partition walls is opened, the operating panel of the middle hall zone takes over the light control, the other one remains out of operation. When opening both partition walls, only the operator panel for the middle hall zone remains active and it controls the entire hall. In addition, a touch panel for operation of the three hall zones is installed in the control cabinet which enables manual operation and dimming of the hall zones. This panel is used to pre-select full- and semi-automatic mode and the entry of lighting setpoints, delays, etc. To signal the operating states of hall zones, acknowledgements are provided potential-free. Circuit and connection diagrams as well as overview and functional diagrams are supplied for installation of the system. The system is commissioned using the touch panel at the control cabinet. The only tool needed is a luxmeter. Page5

The luminaires are operated on two DALI lines. Up to 64 DALI-ECG/ED can be operated on each DALI line. As a result, the luminaires of a hall zone are permanently assigned to a group and do not have to be separately identified and grouped using the software as is typical for DALI. A daylight- and motion-dependent control is provided as usage-oriented energy-saving measure. A combination of light sensor and motion sensor is used for each hall zone. A setpoint can be set for each hall zone for daylight control. As the amount of daylight increases, the lighting is dimmed more and more and will be switched off when there is sufficient daylight. If the level of light falls, the lighting system switches on again. In automatic mode, the motion sensor switches the lighting on when a person enters the hall, the light value is controlled according to the stored setpoint. As soon as no more motion is detected, the light switches off again after the configurable delay time has elapsed. The respective hall zones are operated by calling up the lighting values (scenes) from the control elements (push buttons or switches) installed onsite. The lighting values (scenes) can be changed and saved individually using the respective button. The daylight-dependent control is started using the automatic mode button. The setpoint can also be changed and saved here at any time. A position switch installed on-site can be used to interrogate the position of the partition wall. As soon as the partition wall is opened, the control panel for the first zone takes over the control of the lighting, the other one remains nonfunctional. Circuit and connection diagrams as well as overview and functional diagrams are supplied for installation of the system. The system is commissioned in accordance with supplied instructions. The only tool needed is a luxmeter. 12 System diagram The Regiolux hall controller is also optionally available for multiple DALI lines. Additional controllers are provided for a max of 64 DALI devices in each case - the digital inputs are connected in parallel. The control voltage to the sensor and for the DALI line must be low-voltage type (e g. NYM) due to the operating voltages. The digital inputs such as the switch contact of the sensor and the operating panel, can be run with extra-lowvoltage line (e.g. JY(St)Y). Lines for the voltage supply to the luminaires and the controller are not shown. Page12

13 Function and system description Regiolux hall controller LSG for basic halls / multi-purpose halls (max. 64 ECG/ED) The lighting system is controlled by a central controller that is installed in the on-site sub-distribution box. The luminaires are operated on one DALI line with up to 64 DALI-ECG/ED. The individual functions and lighting values of the luminaires are assigned and configured using the controller. The necessary steps and measures are explained in detail and in an understandable manner in the provided operating manual. A motion-dependent control is provided as a usage-oriented energy-saving measure. The required lighting value (scene) is stored in the controller. Additional lighting values can be stored for up to 8 freely-definable luminaire groups. The call is made using the 8 freely-assignable digital inputs. As a result, up to 8 lighting levels (scenes) can be programmed and called for other operating conditions. The motion sensor switches on the lighting when entering the hall. The light value is controlled depending on the preselected light value. As soon as no more motion is detected, the light switches off again after the configurable delay time has elapsed. Switch-off takes place automatically after no further motion is detected and after the set delay time has elapsed. Daylight-dependent control is not possible with this controller. Manual operation is by means of calling the lighting values. In each case using control elements installed on-site (push buttons or switches). A central On/Off function can be used. Up to 8 non-floating acknowledgements can be configured for signalling the operating states. Circuit and connection diagrams as well as overview and functional diagrams are supplied for installation of the system. The system is configured and commissioned in accordance with supplied instructions. The only tool needed is a luxmeter. 15 Further information The examples shown above are a representative overview of common use cases. Changes to pre-assembled systems are possible within the scope of the technical specifications of the device on request. The systems described consist of several individual components that are not necessarily listed individually. Regiolux guarantees the compatibility and functionality of the systems according to the function descriptions. If an order is placed, detailed documentation will be provided for each system, e.g. performance data, installation diagrams and operating manuals. Further details on request. Attention! DALI is not SELV (safety extra-low voltage)! Voltages >50 V can occur in the DALI bus. For this reason, a low-voltage line with a minimum cross section of 1.5 mm² must be installed. We recommend that the DALI bus is installed in a line together with the mains power supply. Page15
