PLEASE BE SAFE IN THE SIGN. ALTHOUGH THE SIGN COMPONENTS ARE 24 VOLT DC. THE VOLTAGE TO THE LIGHTING AROUND THE COMPONENTS ARE 110 VAC VOLTS UP TO 220 VAC VOLTS
FALL PROTECTION PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR HARNESS AND LAYNARD WHEN YOU HAVE TO GO UP IN A LIFT OR BUCKET. MAKE SURE YOUR SAFETY CONES ARE CORRECTLY SET UP AROUND YOUR TRUCK. ALSO PLEASE WEAR YOUR SAFETY VEST WHEN WALKING FROM SIGN TO STORE. SOMETIMES WHEN REPAIRING SIGNS, SEVERAL TRIPS HAVE TO MADE BETWEEN SIGN AND CONTROLS INSIDE OF STORE
IF A PRICE IS ON SIGN THEN CHECK TO SEE IF SAME PRICE IS ON PUMPS. CHECK POWER IF SIGN IS OFF. FIND THESE COMPONENTS ON THE INSIDE OF THE STORE. HANDHELD PART# COIL CORD FOR HAND CONSOLE PART # 18412
LEFT: PROTOCOL CONVERTER PART# RETALIX/NEXGEN LED SIGNS ONLY (INCLUDES RJ45 PATCH CABLE AND RJ45- DB9 CONNECTOR) CONVERTER PART # SAPPHIRE LED SIGNS ONLY (INCLUDES RJ45 PATCH CABLE AND RJ45- DB9 CONNECTOR) MIDDLE: HAND CONSOLE INTERFACE PART # RIGHT: WIRELESS RADIO PART # SET OF TWO ONE INSIDE STORE AND ONE INSIDE SIGN MATCHED SET. IF TWO SIGNS THEN IT WILL BE A SET OF THREE WHICH IS A DIFFERENT PART NUMBER SPECIAL ORDER FORM SKYLINE
OUR FIRST OBJECTIVE IS TO GET CORRECT PRICE ON SIGN. IF PRICE IS TO LOW THEN CUSTOMERS WILL WANT MONEY BACK FOR PRICE ON PUMPS BEING HIGHER. IF PRICE IS TO HIGH ON SIGN, IT COULD HAVE POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS GO ELSEWHERE. ATTEMPT TO CHANGE PRICES USING HANDHELD CONNECTED TO PROTOCOL CONVERTER ON THE INSIDE OF THE STORE. IF HANDHELD READS OFF LINE. THEN PRESS MODE, MODE, 0. THE HAND HELD WILL CYCLE TO RADIO THEN READ POLL. IN 30 SECONDS THE PRICE SHOULD DISPLAY PRESS 888 ENTER AND CHECK SIGN. IF PRICE CHANGES YOU ARE COMMUNICATING WITH SIGN. IF SIGN DOES NOT CHANGE THEN WALK OUT TO PRICE SIGN(S). LOOK FOR GREY BOX BELOW SIGN ON POLE AND ATTEMPT TO CHANGE PRICES AGAIN.
YOU SHOULD SEE SAME PRICE AS SIGN. EXAMPLE : IF SIGN HAS DIESEL PRICE TOO PRESS SELECT TO CHANGE TO ITEM 2. EXAMPLE: NOTE: ON LED SIGNS ONLY, THE HAND CONSOLE GETS ITS POWER THROUGH THE INTERFACE BOX (NOT A BATTERY). ANYTIME THE HANDHELD IS PLUGGED INTO PROTOCOL CONVERTER THE SYSTEM HAS TO BE RESET.
RESETTING POWER TO COMPONENTS: THE INSIDE COMPONENTS ARE ALL POWERED BY THE SAME 9VDC POWER SUPPLY, PLUGGED INTO THE HAND CONSOLE INTERFACE (MIDDLE BLACK BOX). 1: REMOVE HANDHELD FROM PROTOCOL CONVERTER. 2: UNPLUG THE POWER SUPPLY AND WAIT TEN SECONDS. RESTORE POWER, AS LONG AS THE OVERRIDE LIGHT ON THE PROTOCOL CONVERTER DOES NOT STAY LIT THEN CALL PANTRY HELP DESK (EXT.5423) (NOTE: AFTER ON HOLD PRESS #8 THAT LETS HELP DESK KNOW YOU ARE A TECHNICIAN ON SITE. ) AND HAVE THEM UPDATE PRICES FROM CORPORATE.
If prices do not update with handheld, go out to sign. You should see a Grey box on pole to sign. POLE BOX PART #18724 POLE BOX CARD PART# POLE BOX JUMPER PART # Plug in the hand console to the bottom port that says handheld to sign. If price Example: appears then there is a problem with communication from sign to inside store. Check the pole box card for corrosion or loose connections.
GO BACK INSIDE STORE. CONFIRMS YOUR WIRELESS SIGNAL STRENGTH. PLUG THE HAND CONSOLE INTO THE HAND CONSOLE INTERFACE PORT. AFTER 10 SECONDS, ENTER THE KEYSTROKES FOR HAND CONSOLE DIAGNOSTICS: PRESS MODE 2 TIMES, THEN , ENTER. b WILL DISPLAY SELECT 4 TIMES rad. 10 WILL DISPLAY PRESS ENTER r SS.1 WILL DISPLAY PRESS ENTER C.00 WILL DISPLAY PRESS ENTER WAIT TEN SECONDS. H XX WILL DISPLAY THE NUMBER XX WILL BE THE SIGNAL STRENGTH TO THAT SIGN AS REPORTED BACK BY THE RADIO. IF NO NUMBER APPEARS [ ], THEN THERE IS NOT A VALID RADIO CONNECTION. 36 TO 52 = ACCEPTABLE SIGNAL STRENGTH FOR NORMAL OPERATION. 35 AND BELOW = UNACCEPTABLE. REPOSITION OR RELOCATE ANTENNA SYSTEM
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A ACCEPTABLE SIGNAL STRENGTH, YOU CAN ATTEMPT RELOCATING RADIO AND HAND CONSOLE. REMOVE HAND CONSOLE INTERFACE AND WIRELESS RADIO FROM BACKROOM. TAKE TO OUTSIDE OR TO FRONT OF STORE AND PLUG INTO POWER. IF YOUR PRICE DISPLAYS ON YOUR HAND HELD THAN THE WIRELESS COMPONENTS ARE TOO FAR FROM SIGN. CHECK AGAIN FOR SIGNAL STRENGTH IF GOOD NOW, THEN THE ANTENNA NEEDS TO BE AT THIS NEW LOCATION. USE WIRE PANTRY PART # TO EXTEND DISTANCE FROM ANTENNA TO HAND CONSOLE INTERFACE.

THESE ARE THE PART NUMBERS FOR THE COMPONENTS INT THE MAIN CONTROL PANEL: MAIN BOARD PART # RS485 SURGE MODULE TRANSCEIVER 1X2 CARD SKYLINE PART # LED DIPSLAY DRIVER 8-18 PART # LED DISPLAY DRIVER PART # POWER SUPPLY 24VDC 10 AMP PART# POWER DISTRIBUTION BOARD PART # RADIO INTERFACE BOARD PART# 19170
IF ONE SIDE OF SIGN IS LIT AND THE OTHER IS NOT: THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION IS A MAIN CONTROL BOARD RECALIBRATION THE TWO BUTTON IN THE CENTER OF PHOTO. PRESS THE RIGHT BUTTON FOR ONE SECOND (RELEASE) AND THE HOLD THE LEFT ONE FOR SEVEN SECONDS AND RELEASE. THE SIGN WILL GO THROUGH ALL THE NUMBERS AND THEN GO BACK TO STORED PRICE.
IF SIGN IS TOO HIGH AND YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO BUCKET TRUCK. A SOFT RESET SHOULD BE ATTEMPTED. USING THE HANDHELD EITHER INSIDE THE STORE OR AT SIGN. IF TWO SIGNS COMPLETE THIS OPERATION AT POLE BOX ONLY. PRESS MODE TYPE IN 7694 <ENTER> (NOT ALL THE NUMERALS WILL SHOW UP ON THE SCREEN WHEN DOING THIS STEP) PRESS SELECT BUTTON TWICE HAND CONSOLE WILL SHOW A <ENTER> THE HAND CONSOLE WILL SHOW A C.00 SELECT TO THE CONTROLLER YOU WISH TO RESCALE < ENTER> (YOU MAY HAVE MORE THEN ONE) HAND CONSOLE WILL SHOW A.00 <ENTER> 255 WILL APPEAR ON THE DISPLAY TYPE IN 15 AND <ENTER> <ENTER> THE HAND CONSOLE WILL SHOW SEND. WAIT UNTIL A.00 COMES BACK.
SIGN WILL SCROLL THRU ALL THE NUMBERS AND SET THE PRICE AGAIN. DISCONNECT, RECONNECT HAND CONSOLE AND SET PRICES. WHEN ENTERING A NEW PRICE YOU MAY GET ERROR 25, 28, 19 THE FIRST TIME. IF YOU DO PRESS <ENTER> TO GET PAST THEM. YOU MAY HAVE TO RESET POWER TO SIGN IF ERRORS RETURN IF HAND CONSOLE UNRESPONSIVE TO PRICE CHANGE ATTEMPT: I) THE CONSOLE MAY INADVERTENTLY BE IN VIEW-ONLY MODE (MODE 1). PRESS MODE, THEN #2, ENTER THIS WILL CHANGE IT TO PRICE- CHANGING MODE 2. II) THE CONSOLE/KEYPAD MAY HAVE LOCKED UP. SIMPLY UNPLUG THEN RE-PLUG IN THE HAND CONSOLE TO THE COIL CABLE. IF THIS DOES NOT CLEAR THE ISSUE, THE HAND CONSOLE MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED.
HAND CONSOLE DISPLAY SEGMENTS ARE BLINKING: HAND CONSOLE DISPLAY SEGMENT(S) BLINK WHEN A PROBLEM IS DETECTED WITH THE SIGN DISPLAY. THE BLINKING SEGMENT WILL CORRESPOND TO AN ACTUAL SIGN DISPLAY. I) OBSERVE THE SIGN DISPLAY COMMODITIES FOR ANY OBVIOUS PROBLEMS. IF A PARTICULAR NUMBER SEGMENT IS COMPLETELY OUT, THE SIGN IS DESIGNED TO BLANK OUT THE ENTIRE COMMODITY PRICE AS A PRECAUTION. II) IF THE ITEM NUMBER OR DECIMAL POINT IS BLINKING, THAT INDICATES A PROBLEM WITH THE SIGN CABINET S 9/10THS DISPLAY PANEL OR THE DECIMAL POINT BOARD.
BELOW ARE THE ADAPTERS FROM PROTOCOL CONVETERS TO THE POS. THIS DIFFERENT COLORED CONNECTOR AND A DIP SWITCH IN THE PROTOCOL CONVERTER ARE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM. SAPPHIRE / VERIFONE NEXGEN / RETALIX
CHANGING A NEXGEN PROTOCOL CONVERTER TO OPERATE WITH A SAPPHIRE POS: MOVE DIP SWITCH #5 FROM ON TO OFF. REASSEMBLE AND REATTACH POWER. PLEASE MARK ON THE EXTERNAL LABEL THAT IT IS NOW VERIFONE TYPE. AS OF AUGUST 2013, PROTOCOL CONVERTERS SHIPPED WITH FIRMWARE VERSION AND ABOVE WILL AUTOMATICALLY HAVE THIS SETTING IN MEMORY. ONLY THE SWITCH NEEDS TO BE CHANGED.
