5 1 Overview The 3000-OEM Startup Guide provides the steps for connecting, configuring, and testing the 3000-OEM video processing board on the 3000-IO interface board. The IO board provides the standard connections for power and communication with the 3000-OEM processing board. Boards with SLE options enabled use the same startup procedure. Software references are for version 2.23.x. 1.1 Associated Documents EAN-Network Configuration: Describes how to assign a static IP address to the board, set telemetry destinations and ports, and provide configuration information for both the 3000-OEM and the OEM video processing boards. ICD-3000-OEM: Describes power requirements, thermal management, interface specifications, and connector pin-outs for the 3000-OEM, and the 3000-IO with associated camera interface boards. EAN-Managing the Parameter File: Outlines the differences between dynamic and non-dynamic parameter file settings and how to correctly save them to the board. 2 Network Configuration The 3000-OEM board can be connected directly to the host PC or through a network switch hub. Both connections require assigning a static IP address to the host PC. Note: If you require additional assistance with assigning a static IP address to the host PC, contact your network administrator or search online for procedures that corresponds with your current PC operating system. Once the 3000-OEM is connected, it defaults to its pre-defined IP address of OEM + Interface IO Board Default IP assigned to the 3000-OEM: Network Switch Hub or PC Direct Figure 1: Network Configuration Options Host PC User assigned static IP: IMPORTANT: - If a wireless adapter is active/present on the host PC it should be disabled. - The default IP address of the 3000-OEM (when no DHCP server is available) is the local-link address of Assign a static IP address to the host PC of X.X, where X is (do not use 181). Use a subnet mask of If the host PC is restarted with no connected network, it will default to this same local-link network and subnet mask (unless the host PC has already been assigned a static address). SightLine Applications, Inc. 1
6 3 Serial Communications If a network connection cannot be established, you can optionally use the 9-pin serial connection (coupled with the 5-pin power connector). See the Troubleshooting section for further information on using this method to connect to the 3000-OEM board. 4 Evaluation Kit This 3000-OEM Startup Guide refers to parts contained in the EVAL kit items listed in Table 1. Note: Parts listed below are included in EVAL-3000-OEM kit. If your application calls for other configurations and/or interface boards, please contact us. To review all the interface board options for the 3000-OEM, see the 3000-OEM Accessories page on the SightLine Applications website. 7 5 Software and Hardware Setup This section covers the software and hardware setup process. The first steps outline how to install the Panel Plus application. It provides a basic interface to the features and functions of the 3000-OEM (with the IO board). IMPORTANT: Follow the software and hardware steps in sequence for a successful setup. 5.1 Panel Plus Program For the most up to date features and bug fixes, use the latest version of software and firmware. This section 1. Go to the SightLine website and download the Panel Plus software application. Selecting the link will initiate the download process. Select the version of software that matches the firmware of the board IMPORTANT: The firmware version number and Panel Plus Software version number should match. If the board firmware version is initially unknown, reference the SightLine invoice that came with the board when it was purchased. 2. Click on installer file and follow the prompts. 3. The first time the Panel Plus application is launched, the Windows Security Alert prompt appears. Check the box to allow access. This will update the security settings to facilitate network communications. IMPORTANT: Do not cancel this prompt. Failure to allow access at this point will not allow the Panel Plus application to connect to the board. See section 7 Troubleshooting for more information. 15 6 Summary This completes the startup guide for the 3000-OEM board. If the board has been connected to a camera and encoding functions are part of the configuration, video will be displayed in the main window (Figure 10). On the Connect tab of Panel Plus, the purchased / enabled functions are checked. IMPORTANT: Not all 3000-OEM purchased configurations include encoded IP video, e.g., the Tracker-only configuration. For configurations that include encoding, video will be displayed in the Panel Plus main window (Figure 10). Tracker-only configurations will display processed video on the analog output only. An analog monitor is required for viewing this output. Live video feed from camera Features enabled on board Figure 10: Startup Process Complete See the Panel Plus User Guide (under the Help menu), and the Documentation page for guidance on configuring and utilizing the many SightLine video processing features. Upgrading the 3000-OEM to add additional features is quick and easy. Contact the SightLine Sales team to discuss an upgrade. 6.1 Demo Mode To enable all features for testing and evaluation purposes, click the Demo Mode button from the Connect tab. 16 7 Troubleshooting Issue: Unable to connect with the Panel Plus application to the 3000-OEM board over a standard network connection. Static IP Address Check the static IP address configuration. Improper or unknown static IP address setup is a common connection problem. See section 2 Network Configuration and the EAN-Network Configuration document for more information. Windows Firewall Failure to allow access in the Windows Security Alert prompt upon initial startup of the Panel Plus application can cause connection issues. 1. Close the Panel Plus software application and open the Window Firewall Security Manager on the host PC. 2. Go to Inbound Rules and delete the two slapanelplus rules (TCP and UDP). 3. Re-start the Panel Plus application and allow access in the Windows Security Alert prompt window. Delete inbound rules Serial Connection to the 3000-OEM Board Check all hardware connections. Make sure that all the boards are powered on. A serial COM connector is included in the EVAL kit and must be wired to the board power adapter as shown in Figure 11. The Panel Plus software will automatically recognize active serial ports and list them in the Connect dropdown menu as optional connections. Note: Connecting to the serial COM port on the 3000-IO board from a host PC requires a null modem adapter or null modem serial cable for proper communications. Figure 11: Serial COM Power Connection SightLine Applications, Inc. 12
17 1. Connect the 9-pin null modem serial cable to the serial COM port. 2. Connect the other end to an available Serial or USB port on the host PC. Note: The pinout for this cable can be found in the ICD-3000-OEM document. 3. From the Start menu, go to SightLine Applications» Panel Plus program. 4. The Panel Plus application will list available serial communication ports in the dropdown menu. Select the available serial COM port, and then click the (click to connect) button. Note: Once the serial connection is successful, the (click to connect) button changes to Connected. Use the dropdown to select a COM port Click to connect to the board 5. Verify the connection. When the Panel Plus has connected to the 3000-OEM board, the firmware version and the enabled features will be displayed. Firmware version, enabled/disabled features 6. Now that communications are established using the serial connection, networking settings can be corrected to allow proper network communications. From the main menu, go to Configure» Network Settings. If an unknown static IP address is assigned, remove it or update it to match your network s addressing scheme. Check network settings 7.1 Questions and Additional Support This concludes the troubleshooting section. If you are still having issues and require additional support, please contact Technical Support. Additional support, documentation and Engineering Application Notes (EANs) can be found on the Support pages of the SightLine Applications website. SightLine Applications, Inc. 13
