2 TruLink TRULINK A/V CONTROLLER The battery backup in the TruLink A/V Controller allows the user to set timed events that will occur without a button press. This allows the user to automatically turn off equipment at the end of the day, which prolongs equipment life. The Admin Pack for the TruLink A/V Controller includes the accessories that are required for programming. The Admin Pack is a free accessory that is included with a controller purchase. There are no special cable or accessory requirements for installation of the TruLink A/V Controller A separate serial cable would be required to pass serial control signals A separate Cat5e cable is required for installation Cable connections for installation use standard connectors rather than screw terminals. This can save time during the installation process. The IR learning feature does not require a connection to the computer and does not require that the controller be removed from the wall. This can save time during the initial installation and if the controller ever needs to be updated. The USB On-The-Go (OTG) feature provides an easy way to upload or download configuration information without a connection to computer. This can save time during the initial installation and if the controller ever needs to be updated. This port can also be used to update the firmware on the controller. The dip switches on the MCIA allow the pinout of the DB9 port to be switched between modem and null modem Updates and changes must be made at the controller. There is no IP option available for this product. The GUI software is intuitive and builds the command string for the installer

There are no special cable or accessory requirements for installation of the Calypso product A separate Cat5e cable is required for installation Most of the connections must be made with bare wire to screw terminals The quick start guide instructions do not fully explain the connections that must be made Initial IP setup must be done one controller at a time because all controllers share the same IP address from the manufacturer Once IP is set up, updates and changes may be made remotely IR learning requires that the wall plate be removed from the wall The command strings entered into the software must be built by the installer/programmer

However, this controller is equipped The Programming Wand is required to program the SP Controls PXE-DCM+ with RS232 commands. Without this wand the SP Controls device is only able to control devices with IR Communication. This kit includes a surface mount box, mud ring, plastic face plate, and a 50ft 3-conductor cable that is required for installation. A substitute 3-conductor cable may be used, but these pieces would be required for a complete installation. A separate serial connector is required to pass serial control signals The cable connections from the wall plate to the adapter are made with bare wire and screw terminals Updates to the programming the controller requires that the face plate cover be removed. The face plate included in the installation kit is plastic and breaks easily. To program the controller you must insert a paper clip into a hole and risk damaging the unit if the paper clip is not inserted correctly The programming wand does not have a reset button. If the wand locks up, then it must be disassembled and the battery must be pulled. No control command database is included with the product Button placement is limited by the controller design
